It's great on my M3 Pro too.Not sure why Tahoe “sucks”. I think it’s rather good on my new Neo.

Hmm I am not happy with a lot of iOS 26 issues but I am still of the view that it is more prudent to be cautious and install hack and malware fixes.Maybe I’m cynical but I always get suspicious when I see one of these stories suddenly appear in the media.

Apple warns iPhone users to update software after mass hacking campaigns
Russian intelligence, Chinese cybercriminals and others are hacking phones that haven't installed September's update, researchers say.www.nbcnews.com
Agreed. The earlier 18.7.x updates were about fixes for targeted attacks. Now it is any malicious website. All these flaws come from Webkit vulnerabilities, so even a 3rd party web browser or using no web browser could still be exploited, because everything uses Webkit in some way. I think Liquid Glass is trash and the OS is slower, more power hungry, and more bug-ridden than ever before, but staying out-of-date on principle is not a great move.Hmm I am not happy with a lot of iOS 26 issues but I am still of the view that it is more prudent to be cautious and install hack and malware fixes.
It’s a plus and minus having all browsers use WebKit. Probably more pluses than minuses.Agreed. The earlier 18.7.x updates were about fixes for targeted attacks. Now it is any malicious website. Agreed and I'd also say the average person is somewhat indifferent to these kind of changes. Liquid glass wasn't that big of a change in the grand scheme - the biggest issue I've seen with it is just the sheer inconsistency in how it was designed and implemented with insufficient thought given to readability and usability (I think this goes without saying but it introduced way more visual issues than existed before due to the translucent effect) but the average person isn't going to care enough to let's say switch phones. Having said that there is no shortage of people searching and discussing how to turn off liquid glass or reduce its effects, so I'd wager its certainly not been a popular change.my personal opinion is the average person (IRL) is less bullish on iOS 26 but also doesn't really care and is locked in. We'll get new software in the fall, software versions have become relatively disposable and transient like fashion.
Have you read this thread? It pretty much describes exactly why tahoe sucks. Not sure why Tahoe “sucks”. I think it’s rather good on my new Neo.
And yes, I don’t get it and/or agree with it. Tahoe still looks good to me after three days on my newish Neo.Have you read this thread? It pretty much describes exactly why tahoe sucks.
That’s actually ugly. But back then it was what it was.I'm staying on 18. I wish they did the og "liquid glass" design from ios 5. Now THATS a design.

Ugly? iOS 26 is so much worse. That’s actually ugly. But back then it was what it was.
To each our own, I suppose. It looks visually unappealing.Ugly? iOS 26 is so much worse.
And they insist on releasing the new OS with the new phone, so new phone buyers are always getting the worse possible experience. It always feels a little rushed and a little half-baked and needs a half year until it is back to good enough. If they insist on putting out new phones every fall, the least they could do is move the OS release schedule to January or so. Give it time to Cook, Tim!Anyone else getting the feeling that 26.4 is probably closer to what iOS 26 was meant to be out the gate. This seems to happen every year nowadays that you have to wait for x number of versions before you get one that’s half usable. I swear it’s down to this bonkers annual schedule of iOS updates to the latest version that Apple feels they have to keep even if it means the initial version each time is a pile of rubbish.
Plus they make design changes not because they improve things for the user but because they feel they have to be seen to be doing something each year.
In your opinion only. For example Tahoe I like. Some don’t. Same with iOS 26 and iPadOS 26.And they insist on releasing the new OS with the new phone, so new phone buyers are always getting the worse possible experience.
I agree. Seems like that’s the way Apple releases its operating system going back for a long time. We’ve gotten used to it.It always feels a little rushed and a little half-baked and needs a half year until it is back to good enough.
They ain’t doing that. It “Cooks” from June to Deptember. If they insist on putting out new phones every fall, the least they could do is move the OS release schedule to January or so. Give it time to Cook, Tim!
Needless to say, the simple solution is to hold off from buying a new phone until that year’s IOS is mature. No one is forcing you to purchase a new phone at launch. And they insist on releasing the new OS with the new phone, so new phone buyers are always getting the worse possible experience. Nothing opinion here and it’s not about “liking” software here. It’s indisputable that a x.0 release will ALWAYS be the worse version. Otherwise there would never be bug fixes, right? Releasing new devices with an OS that has had the better part of a year of bug fixes is always going to be a better experience than new hardware with a new OS. 2-2.5 months of summer betas is just not enough. The game industry is learning just how bad this crunch culture is long term. Bad for employees, bad for customers, bad for quality. Hopefully Apple will learn it soon too.In your opinion only. For example Tahoe I like.
Sorry I disagree. I have never thought the Apple experience on day one with a new phone was bad. That doesn’t mean improvements can’t be had.Nothing opinion here and it’s not about “liking” software here. It’s indisputable that a x.0 release will ALWAYS be the worse version. That's not exactly true. They design the new iOS with the upcoming hardware in mind and it's more optimized for those models compared to the existing ones. And add in the extra processing power and they just run the new iOS better. And they insist on releasing the new OS with the new phone, so new phone buyers are always getting the worse possible experience. They spent $10b on a car that never shipped. Sorry if I don’t feel sorry for the multi-trillion dollar megacorporation not having enough resources.supporting one extra iOS version for a model is not an effective use of resources.
It’s not that simple when Apple gatekeeps security updates unless you update to their newest half-baked OS. If they allowed downgrading to the prior OS and kept security updates for one year on the prior OS, there would be no complaints.Needless to say, the simple solution is to hold off from buying a new phone until that year’s IOS is mature. Oh no one’s feeling sorry for a corp like Apple. It’s just a business decision. They spent $10b on a car that never shipped. Sorry if I don’t feel sorry for the multi-trillion dollar megacorporation not having enough resources.
Posters have been saying for year to allow Downgrading. It hasn’t happened and probably never will. It’s not that simple when Apple gatekeeps security updates unless you update to their newest half-baked OS. An iPhone XS can get iOS 18 security updates, but an iPhone 16 Pro Max cannot.
If Apple is providing security updates to really old devices, it makes me think they could if they wanted. They really need an internal reset as to how they push, implement and schedule updates. The yearly cycle clearly isn't working in recent years. iOS 26 has been the buggiest and messiest rollout since iOS 13.Posters have been saying for year to allow Downgrading. Apple doesn’t care there are complaints. I don’t care they are complaints. Apple has been pushing forward their new releases for years. Apple it seems is tone deaf with respect to these complaints about downgrading.

I know we all have our opinions but to me the yearly release is working fine. When iOS 26 was release we updated every updatable device to iOS 26. Two iPhones and one iPad and it was just fine.If Apple is providing security updates to really old devices, it makes me think they could if they wanted. Nobody I know , except on MR has made any comments regarding, sloppiness or whatever. We Know there are bugs, they get fixed. There just weren’t a whole Lot of glitches in my sphere that anybody talked about. And I asked. My OH who everything bothers her has not said word 1 about iOS 26. And since then we bought an Apple TV, iPad Pro m5 and Mac Neo.Even with the massive redesign that was iOS 7 they had TONS AND TONS of bugs and visual glitches fixed by 7.1. Im not talking the look or decisiveness of liquid glass (which can be fixed by adding frosted to the current lineup of clear and tinted options) but rather the sheer amount of visual glitches on iPhones, iPad and Mac. Stuff that is just sloppy implementation. I actually don't mind liquid glass THE LOOK. But the glitches of it all are just insane. I think less people notice it on the phone due to the smaller screen but man on the iPad it's been a real mess.
