I went in to the Apple Store in Costa Mesa, CA on Saturday, 9/15. They had loads of cables. I bought one with the self-checkout feature on the Apple Store app. Didn't have to talk to any of the blue shirts. In and out in <5 minutes.
 
Can we ban new accounts from being cry baby sissies? Every day a new account is crying like a four year old.
 
Seems to me that many here have yet to experience and/or have dealt with real everyday life issues. As such, little issues become major ordeals and disruptive.
 
I have been trying to buy two extra of the new stupid cable that Apple is using on the iPhone 5 and had no success in more than 5 stores in my area. The Apple site says it will ship in 2 weeks. This is ridiculous!!!! How can a company like Apple change a cable that will be used by millions of people and not foresee a huge demand on them? It looks like it is time to sell AAPL since the company is going downhill.

I ordered mine on pre order day and have had it for almost two weeks even with the estimated shipping date being mid Oct. Just order it, you may get lucky and have it next week.
 
I did the in-store pickup thing with only a minor hiccup in that the first store I ordered from had to cancel my order because the site mistakenly said that they had stock when they didn't. I just ordered from another store in town instead & picked it up the next day.

That said, I would like to get my hands on an adapter cable which apparently aren't available anywhere yet. It'd be nice to have an extra-long cable by the nightstand for charging overnight.

I always call ahead to verify availability of items.

I also need an extra cable, went to one of my local Apple stores (I have 3) last Thursday afternoon, arriving about an hour after the last USB cable was sold. The day before there had been a wall full. I went home empty-handed.

Saturday afternoon I called the same store, was told they were still sold out and that a different store had cables on Saturday morning. I called that store and they'd sold out that afternoon. No joy on Saturday, either.

The first Apple store is expecting a shipment of items tomorrow (Tuesday) and I plan on calling to see if cables are included in the shipment; they never know shipment's contents ahead of time. Maybe the third time will be the charm.

The point is that this particular item is in high demand EVERYWHERE and supplies are being distributed to all geographical areas in order to be fair. This temporary shortage exists because nobody can use their existing cables for the new iPhones & the situation, while annoying, will be corrected as demand decreases because users are eventually finding supplies.

Patience is required and that's the way it is. Get over it. You're not the only one. :)
