Funny... I just did a google search trying to figure out how to do this exact same thing.

Guess there is no solution besides the responses that fail at being humorous. :)

Ok, so i read the first page of this, and i THINK I FOUND A SOLUTION! SOmeone TRY this:

Step 1) Add a new contact "Yo" to your contact list
Step 2) Type a SMS with Yo in it!
Step 3) I'm the MAN!
Step 4) Does it work???

its a crummy solution. i cant believe im goolging this same problem "yo" "w/" "thurs" etc.. and there is still no alternative to filling up my addy book w/ bogus dictionary entries...

this app tries to teach words to the dictionary:

...in my test thus far it seems to work. only thing it doesnt do is adjust AutoCorrect -- the annoying way ios turns Des into DES or gras into GRAS ("des moines", "mardi gras").
