Thanks guys for all your responses. As some of you mention going back to app store and try again. I will try one more time going to Genius Bar. I hope they understand my situation. Have you guys seen this issue with camera about green cloud. That is the only problem i am having?

Fail.

1. There are no refurbished iphones yet.

2. Name another product you can return after having service done to it.

First off no one can actually say for certain that there are NO refurb units yet. It is unlikely but how the hell can anyone say without doubt? Second, he didn't have service done. He had his phone replaced.

My issue is this. I have been having problems with mine as well. I purchased through At&t. Rather then just ship me a new phone they want to turf me off to Apple. I imagine that every retailer "refers" you back to them. So if they tell you to go there and then you follow their advice I don't see what the problem is. People are just doing what they are told to do.

I do agree that you should just go back to apple and request your original phone back. Problem solved.

I'm having the same issue. I'm going today for that and dead pixels and some call problems.

On the camera issue. I have read everything on here from it's just how it is, a software update can fix it, to reading about people replacing theirs to find no more problems. It seems everyone has a different opinion. I will say that I emailed apple photo examples and they seemed to think it was an issue and not on every phone.

BS FAIL.

There are NO refurb iPhone 4 right now.
I'd not be so quick to assume that given the number of threads regarding people returning their iPhones. I suspect apple has a higher occurrence of returns with this baby.

Don't forget a refurb is just a returned phone that was either repaired, or re-certificated as working

Actually I have heard of refurb iPhone 4s in stock at Apple stores already. It may sound counter intuitive since they are still back ordered for retail sale but Apple always builds up a stock of refurb products quickly. I have a friend who got a replacement iPad from an Apple store just 1 week after they came out (they were still widely sold out).

For what it's worth, I believe OP. Sounds like something that would happen with the "Genius" bar. I would just demand to speak to a manager and don't leave until you're satisfied.

That was not the case with the 3Gs, apple was replacing defective 3Gs for a long period because there were little to no refurbs available.

I'd say a lot of people were/are returning their IP4 because of the antenna issue which is "seeding" the refurb inventory.

apple doesn't select a bunch of newly manufactured phones for refurbs, they use returned phones for that.

Please report back because I'm about to do the same thing with AT&T.

I went to the Apple store and had it swapped for reception issues - never was it mentioned that I'd have an issue returning it. To be honest, I didn't even think about it until this morning when I grabbed my bag and box to bring back.

For those that say go get your phone back from Apple, are you sure they keep them in the store? He boxed mine up, guy threw a label on it and I assumed was shipping it out to become a refurb. This was about a week ago.

You SHOULD NOT be getting a refurb phone as a replacement for a brand new device if its within the return window. PERIOD.

If you are having problems its much better to just return the device and get a full refund. Purhcase it again after a short while (days, weeks, etc) that way you get a brand new device, in original packaging, that you can return if you still have problems, and your 30 day window resets.

the green blob issue is because you are taking pictures under fluorescent lighting. go try it elsewhere, no issues.

Whenever you get service done at Apple Store, you are provided paper work. For returns of course you show the paperwork.

Note the OP did not mention anything about that at all. Move along. Nothing to see here except someone's imagination gone wild.

Weird. I assumed if your phone was replaced, they'd note the serial number of the replacement, so that too can be returned/refunded.

Exactly.

The "app" store is an entirely different entity than the "apple" store. Please spell out places names. ;)

If you returned a NEW iphone, why were you given a refurbished/used one?

This makes no sense.

You paid for a new phone. New phone doesnt work/defective. You should be given another new replacement, not a USED refurbished model.

Exactly.

They did gave me paper work when i got refurbish ip4. But it will do no good cause according to their policy they cannot return or refund service ip4. At least thats what i was told.

Thats what i am trying to explain genius bar guys. So far no luck:(

You might as well shout at the rain.

In reality, as soon as you open the box the iphone in your possession is a used iphone. Thus when you exchange it, you're exchanging a used iphone for a refurb iphone.

The only way your logic works is you've never opened the box and never used the iphone. Only then is it still "new" -- but since it's never been used there'd be no way to identify any defects. :)

Anyway, think what you want, argue/debate/whatever all you want, the simple reality is that this is how business is done by most gadget manufacturers. Something breaks during the warranty period, you trade it out for a refurb unit. Sometimes they'll just do a repair instead, but typically it's exchange. Those who do not like this have the option of not purchasing the gadget in the first place.

I have the same issue, just called AT&T and they said they need the original phone too. Called the Apple store and they said they ship the phones out and there is no way for me to get my phone back.

Never was this mentioned in the swap. I specifically asked the 'Genius' if I'd have any issues returning this phone if I had problems again and he said no.

This one is going up the ladder when I'm home and not at work.

NOT true. My replacement starts with 8

Yep, I just got my phone replaced and the serial numbers starts with an 8. It came out of one of those mystery black boxes and still had the wrapping on the phone. Seems new to me so I don't care. What I care about is NO dead pixels and that's what I got!
