You are absolutely correct.
The wear and tear on the iPhone 5 is going to be a HUGE issue, much bigger problem than the original antenna gate was. The iPhone 4/4S is FAR more resistant to wear and tear. Sure if dropped just right the 4/4S back will shatter, but it's replaceable, the iPhone 5 will dent and scratch and it is NOT replaceable. Not good.

Whoa didn't expect that to happen. I mean it's seriously a downgrade over durability to replace a stainless steel band with anodized Aluminum unibody. I don't see the miracle of it being lighter then. It's simply replaced by Aluminum, which is lighter but not as strong as stainless steel.

OMGit'ssolightandmagical ..

Well I'm pretty sure it's not Duralumin or something fancy, just pure cheap billet being machined and anodized.

Oh so much for Apple talking about [improved durability] on iPhone 5

This is why I didn't upgrade from the 4 to the 4S.

Best bang for the buck is a two year upgrade cycle. Not only do you get to upgrade using full subsidy, but that's where the performance improvements show the most.

Though in my opinion, 4S -> 5 seems to be a much bigger improvement than 4 -> 4S

Boo, nobody ever twisted your arm to buy the phone. the IP5 was clearly aimed for the IP4, IP3GS and non-iphone owners. I think usually changing the phone next model year is a waste of money. Although if you sell and then buy you probably don't have to lose money, however your contract is extended.

I mean coming from a 4s, I feel like I have the same old phone. In fact, I feel like I have less of a phone because I gave up my 5.1.1 jailbreak. Thinking maybe I should have done the S3 just to get a new device feeling.

I honestly don't know how anyone can't hold the 5 in their hand and not feel like its a new device. That being said, just return your 5 and go back to a jailbreakable 4S until you feel the next iPhone is worth it.

FWIW Android doesn't feel any different to me. Its still just icons on the home page, and since I've jailbroken since it was a 40 step process in Terminal not even Widgets and themes feel new to me. If I truely wanted something that felt new and different I'd get one of those iPod Nano looking Luminas and hang with Windows Phone for a while.

I did the whole Android business cuz I was "bored" of iOS. I got a GS2 for work, used it for 6 months and switched it to a 4S when another employee left the company.

Then, I gave my 4S to my GF, got my iPhone 4 back. Sold it, bought a GS3 to try and see if I liked it while I waited for the iPhone 5. I loved the GS3 for 2 weeks, then, its novelty wore off, and I started to hate it. I love the Apple ecosystem and I have invested in it. When I got my iPhone 5 finally, it felt wonderful putting away the GS3 and returning it a few days later.

I enjoyed that it was different for a short time, but then it started to annoy me. So I am a happy iPhone 5 owner :D

It's super fast, it's significantly lighter and I had the 2g, 3G, 3GS, 4, and 4s and it's the best one out of all of them by far!!

I would be seriously concerned if the latest iPhone wasn't the best iPhone ever made. Not sure why people keep saying that as if its a huge compliment.

Yup exactly, I was a ip4 user and I upgrade every other for this same reason.

I am also in this boat... I switch between the GF's upgrade and my own to get Subsidy on each and make money in the process.

Looking back, it is kind of ridiculous how many iPhone's I have had.
