Disagree 100%, they are way better this year for these reasons:

-NFC w/ Magsafe (Cool animation)
-Closed bottom
-Tackiness is the same, it just takes time to wear into it
-Buttons click better
-Plastic bevelled rim around the camera looks more premium

I buy the white case every year and love it this year, but I do want another in leather

Glad to hear they do not cling to your pocket like before.

Do they still collect pocket lint as badly as the old ones? This was a big reason why I didn't prefer them in the past.

Mine isn't. The last silicone case I had was a smart battery cover. That thing was a pain. These new ones have none of those issues. No stickiness, no lint attracting, easy to get in and out of pocket. It works really, really well. I was anticipating a month break-in for those issues, but pleasantly surprised!

I was at the Apple store yesterday and asked one of the employees about the upcoming leather cases for the 12 pro max and he said they would have a cut out at the bottom. So we shall see.

I was wondering about that. I have always had the leather cases since they came out for the iPhone 5. I wanted one this year, but as they didn’t release at the time I got my 12 pro, I went for the silicone. Don’t love it like I do the leather, but I do really like the closed bottom. Like it was on the iPhone 5 leather case. I never minded the open bottom on the others though. This silicone just digs into my pinky finger really bad. That being said, I wouldn’t mind seeing the leather being open so you have two different styles. If it’s closed, I won’t be mad though.

Thanks. I may have to consider it then. Seems like they addressed all of the issues that bothered me before, including the exposed bottom edge of the phone. I have a clear case now but it’s smudge attracting.

Absolutely love the new silicon cases - they fit so much better - the square sides make it a lot easier to hold. I do prefer an open bottom.

I picked up a black silicone case this afternoon. Liking it so far. It definitely clings less to my pocket than prior generations, and collects less lint. I like that it fully covers the bottom. This may be a keeper.

really torn whether to keep my blue apple silicone. It is much better than the black XS max case I had in terms of clinging to pockets and picking up lint, but it still isn't great. and it seems to pick up skin oils easily and almost discolour slightly which is hard to wipe off (you can see on the case where my fingers normally rest). If it were cheaper I would keep it for sure but still trying to decide if its worth it...

If you read what I and others have said, they aren’t behaving that way this year. They are not attracting lint, they aren’t tacky like they used to be. Not at all.

Seriously? No lint, no tacky on pocket? How to explain this change between previous model?

I’m not an engineer nor manufacturer. Ask someone else “how”. We are telling you that it “is” that way. My kumquat case has attracted zero lint. Just gave it another close look just now to be absolutely sure. No lint.

Seriously, no lint, not tacky. It has a bit of grip, but not tacky like prior models.

I’ve been only using my kumquat case. Haven’t noticed that. I have the deep navy. I’ll switch cases today if I see that sane behavior. If so, I’ll trade it out or return it. I think I have time still.

For what it's worth I have the blue silicone case and it attracts a ton of lint. That's my number 1 complaint and the reason I'll be returning it.

I actually love mine. Much better feel to them, easy to get in and out of pocket, and the kumquat color is badass!

Just curious, I have noticed the lighter colored silicone cases don’t attract lint like the darker colors. Do you notice the kumquat collecting much lint? Also, do you notice the extra weight due to the magnets and bottom coverage?

I had the Plum. Together with phone it is noticeable heavier than last year’s silicone. Less tacky but also less grippy. Also doesn’t feel securely installed as it partially uses magnetic force, not just friction to keep it on. I had to push the phone down into the case once in a while to “re-install” it.

NO lint. Honestly. Zero. Maybe I just keep the house and all my clothes extremely clean (doubtful 🤣😂🤣), but no lint.

I came from an XSMax, so the weight difference I feel is much more from that. About the case weight, I honestly couldn’t tell you. Personally, I doubt it’s enough to notice.

I am not seeing that result with mine. It’s less than years prior, but there is still lint being picked up. Mine usually went away after using the case more, but we will see if that holds true this time.

And yours is white, correct? Does it feel heavier than last years?

No, kumquat. Again, I don’t know about weight because I had a much larger and heavier phone (XSMax) and I used a leather case. I’m just guessing that the case weight couldn’t be enough to notice, but that’s just my guess. I have nothing on hand to compare.

Sorry! I meant to ask the person who said they usually bought a white one each year, but thanks so much for the extra info.
