Hmm.. ok. I saw some new wallpapers. That's cool.

So all these new widgets, are they just going to drain my battery?

If you look at release notes and documentation, and the only think you take away from it is that it has a few new wallpapers.... I can only conclude that you are here for nefarious reasons.

Good question. I was thing the same thing after updating my iPad mini. I was expecting it to look different but instead I'm hard pressed to see the diff. I even had to look at the version number to be sure it had actually updated.

I guess Apple could have invented some kind of weird graphics to alert people to the fact that it has all the new behind the scenes features and API uses. For people that don't want to read the release notes.

Wow that was a super late reply to a post I made immediately after installing ios8. At that time I was expecting more visible changes, as were obvious when I went from iOS 6 to 7, which was a major change in the whole look and feel of the OS. Since then I have discovered the various changes. And BTW not everyone wants to slog through release notes. They just like to see for themselves.

Upon further examination I located some of the new features. Still no revolutionary change. And some stuff like family sharing that I'll never use.

I saw someone the other day returning a DVD player to the store that he had purchased. The teller asked his reason for returning it. He said "nothing revolutionary about it."
Seriously though... iOS 8 has many very useful things in it. Most are not obvious, in your face kind of stuff. They are behind the scenes. People that say there is nothing fall into one of two categories: They either have not learned what they are, or they are paid to be here bashing Apple. No other way around it. To suggest that every new mobile operating system version must be "revolutionary" is absurd. Name me one single consumer product that goes through revolutionary changes every year.

I dont really see any new features?!

Another reply to an old post which is no longer relevant because of the passage of time. Please don't reply to a post that's more than a few days old.

First, i'm sorry if i reacted to your comments a little harshly. Just see too much bashing on Macrumors the last year or two from people that you have to wonder why they are on this site, as they clearly absolutely hate Apple products.

That said, there is nothing wrong to responding to several day old threads. Not everyone can be on live reading posts in near live time. People that might be considering switching to a new product and know nothing about it come across these threads and read them. If noone responded to posts saying things such as iOS 8 having nothing new besides a few new wallpapers... those new people might falsely think that it is true. I'd rather see people properly educated. Also, forum etiquette is to search for existing threads for discussion on a topic before starting new threads. Granted, i should go about it better... by listing many of the new benefits, as some others have done. Sorry.
