Tell that to the people that were alerted to health conditions or literally had their lives saved because of it.
My 90-year old Mom was alerted in the middle of the night that she was experiencing atrial fibrillation, and then she alerted me. Went to the hospital and treatment started right away. This was a big deal to my Mom and our family and a happy outcome.

That is so great!

I watched my mom take a hard fall when we were on a walk and the fall detection on her watch triggered. It made me feel some relief knowing she'd have that access to help if I wasn't there.

Decided to part ways with my Apple Watch Ultra 2. From owning the original 9 years ago and wearing one on my wrist up until now, I felt it was time to try and see just what it feels like to rid myself of it.
I purchased a Omega as my new wearable.
Sold the Apple Watch on eBay.
Now, I feel comfortably free and, for some reason, clear headed.

Give it a try.
Considering this as well.

The UW2 is a great watch ...... but I never fell in love with it.

I'm eyeing a DIY Watch Club GMT, to build my own analog automatic, and satisfy my inner mechanical engineer :D

LOL. With no screen and no notifications, no detox would be necessary. You just open up Fitness and your stats are automatically there. :p

No, people will still find a way, there will still be posts. :D Still uses radio waves.

I've never owned one and have refused to buy one since they came out. I am still refusing to buy one. The AW is Apple's answer to the LED notification light. Rather than add that to the iPhone, Apple wants you to purchase an entirely different device.

I'm not going to play that game.

I have my dad's old 1860s pocket watch that's been passed down, plus my own watch. I use those.
I don’t know if anyone already mentioned this but you can go to Accesbility settings and have the LED flash activate for notifications.

Yes, and you are now the third person who has mentioned it. And one of the many who has mentioned it in prior discussions in this forum. I am well aware and I do have this active.

But, it's not an entire solution. I don't operate like most people and lay my phone down face down. I put it down on the back, or in a business card holder where the front is facing me.

Also, it doesn't repeat. So, if you aren't looking at the flash or in the general direction of the phone this does you little good. Once you miss the flash going off, what indicator is there that you received a notification? That's the point of an LED notification light. To remain active until the notification is acknowledged in some way.

I use my Ultra 1 as more of a watch than a smart watch. I have all notifications turned off. I don't use it for email. Its really a watch with the ability to change bands and faces for fun, and a fitness tracker for me. In that capacity I love it. I won't upgrade until all the heath sensors are turned back on. 2 years and the battery is at 96% capacity with a finish that is holding up nicely.

I've owned an Omega Speedmaster for ~10 years, ironically purchased almost right before the original Apple Watch. While it's an incredible watch with loads of history and personal love tied to it, I find myself missing the functionality and "piece of mind" of my AWU. As I get older (36 currently), I've tended to lean more noticing health changes and how to fit exercise and other health monitoring into my life. I still love my Speedy, but I find it relegated to my watchbox most days.

I would bet money that you will get bored of the Omega within 1-2 years and start buying Apple Watches again, or at least incorporating them into your rotation.

no interest in another device to recharge. been wearing a $60 casio g-shock for years. solar recharge cell.
It’s not that big of a deal. Most people don’t sleep with their watch on so instead of just putting it on the dresser you put it on the charging stand.

See the thing is you’re comparing it to a watch which I realize the Apple Watch has watch in name, but it’s not the same thing. This is like back in my day we had phones mounted on the wall but now we have smart phones. They both can do that one very basic function, but that’s no longer the primary function.

I think there are better reasons not to wear one such as feeling a bit too connected or it’s another device to take up your attention.

I remember when I was a kid you could call your own number and if you hang up really fast it would ring the phone. Phone calls back then went through copper wires but now even if you have a wired phone it goes over VOIP. At least that’s my understanding.

Does your wall mounted phone work or is it just a decoration?

Yes, your old phone will talk old school phone language to the nearest central office, and then it's packetized and carried over the network via IP. There are exceptions in remote areas, but if you're in a city in a civilized country, it's IP.

I’ve never found charging the watch to be this annoying chore. I don’t take it into the shower with me, so it charges while I do that and get dressed. It takes all of a few seconds to put it on the charger. Or I just take it off for an hour to do the same. I guess I just don’t see what the big deal is about charging it regularly.

How’s the nomad band in terms of scratching? I really want to get the black when ultra 3 comes out this month but don’t want to have to deal with scratches

So far it has none but it‘s only been 3 weeks now. Small scratches on stainless Steele on my Omega never bothered me but let’s see how Titanium holds up.
