I just got my case today after using it for like four hours I have to say it is a pain in the ass. First of all, it doesn't even stay closed. I just lays on my table half opened which is annoying. I have it smashed under my bed mattress right now but not sure how that will work.

I think it is VERY thick. It might be a little better if it works it's way in and stays shut but right now, eh. I was hoping to have it for work and have everything in one but with it being so thick, I don't even think I can have it in my pants while I'm at work.

Think it will break in soon and become ok? Texting on it is a pain too. Am I the only one who thinks this?

I like typing on it in landscape mode. Like another poster said, only case I've ever had a compliment on! It's functional if you can get by with just a couple of credit cards and a few bills. I like my world simplified!

I loved my bookbook for ip4 but am disappointed with the clip-in style frame for the ip5.
How does the plastic frame feel that hold the phone?

Why do people go into a thread just to bash something? Everybody's taste is different some people will love things others don't, I don't think they care other people who aren't going to buy it think its ugly.

I agree I have the brown and its think and it doesn't close like the older ones did but its very durable and very hard leather so it should take a beating.

Overall it's a good case, when it closes fully it will be a great case.

I'm so excited, I get mine via fedex tomorrow! I've been waiting ever since the iPhone 5 launch. I've never owned a BookBook but I love the style of it. The only thing I wish they kept was the sleeves instead of the new plastic holders so we'll see that holds up! I'll post pictures tomorrow!

Thanks, I look forward to your pics. The only thing that disappoints me is the lack of the red tab at the top. I know on the previous version it served a purpose but they should have put it on for the sake of it.

Y yall like carrying a bible?

Actually no,lol

However I stand somewhat corrected. I pledged earlier I would not be getting one because I liked the old design so I could easily remove the phone and fondle it naked when I wanted (for you "she said" guys, I threw you a softball here), and this new clip in design would be too cumbersome to remove the phone often...

I did cave and get one in black but was prepared to return it, but wife is loving it on her phone...it's growing on me again, may order another.

Great! Thanks for posting them. Does the book stay closed or does it have to get worked in? And the first thing I noticed was that there is no red block like in the picture of BookBook on the website. On the brown book, there has a full red block that says Vol V.

Whats up with that?

Is it thick when its closed? I wanna wear it in my front pocket but not sure it's gonna feel ok. How do you wear it?

this is my second bookbook, had one on the 4S, love it! i like having my wallet and phone in the same case. I can't lose either one with find my iPhone. oh and my brown case does have the red block.

All the same issues I'm having. I gave it some time and tried to let it break in a little but it still won't close. Too bulky for the front pocket. I just emailed for an RMA. The thing looks great and is beautifully made, though.

If that's your main complaint, I'd give it more time, a lot more time...leather doesn't break in that quickly, especially the few days you've had it.

Clip in=bad

I agree. This is the most disappointing thing about the case, especially with turn-by-turn now built into iOS. This case makes it difficult for someone to use their phone as a navigator…the slip in design was a bad choice.

Anyone else having call quality issues? I have had everyone say they are having a hard time hearing me.
After doing some testing I found that when the case is folded back open to talk it covers the back microphone and the callers hear your voice as very muffled. This is bad enough for me to send it back, almost like they never tested the iPhone on an actual phone call.

I really want to love it...

I've had the Black iPhone 5 version for about a week now. Only used it for a few hours (the rest of the time it's been sitting under 'real' books to hopefully break it in enough to make the front stay closed)

Here are some thoughts so far:

• It's just too bulky. I keep my phone in my front pocket - with the Bookbook, it's just awkwardly bulky to go in my front pocket (and I'm not putting it in my back pocket for obvious reasons)

• The plastic snap-in mechanism is pretty nice. It's covered in leather (super thin leather, but it is covered), and doesn't feel cheap at all. Holds the iPhone 5 perfectly - no worries of it falling out.

• Not sure if I could get used to using my iPhone with it in the case. You can fold the front to the back, but the spine is rigid, so you create a little triangle of sorts, and it just feels weird to use the phone like that. And while the photos on the website of people using it folded open like they're reading a book look cool, that totally isn't practical when trying to do anything on your phone.

• Trying, but struggling to make it work with my lifestyle. I can put a few cards in it, yeah, but definitely not my entire wallet. Meaning I still have to bring my wallet with me... sort of kills the point. Not to mention it felt weird to not have a wallet in my back pocket when I tried it out (maybe something to consider, whether or not you'll be able to deal with not having that wallet where it has always been, haha)

It's beautifully built. I really want to love it. I have the iPad version, and it gets so many compliments. But the phone version just doesn't seem 'right' for practical use.

If you've had a Bookbook in the past, and/or seriously think you could adapt to the various things it forces you to change, it's definitely worth the cost - the quality is excellent.

Y yall like carrying a bible?

Why is it okay to make fun of someone who carries the Bible?
If you were to say this about someone who carries the Quran it wouldn't be tolerated. I guess it just shows the hypocrisy of the "modern" public.

Y u mad tho? I would have say the same for any religious book! It just look like a bible more than a quran otherwise i would have say it!

Aww, so you think if a few cards go in there, its going to get fat and not shut?

What do you do, stick it in ur back pocket then? And sit on it? Not sure i can deal with my phone in my back pocket. ****. I love having my phone up front but Im sure it's gonna be too big.

If you haven't been keeping up with all the "bendgate" threads, for god sakes don't put it in your back pocket!

I had one of these for my 4s and I found that cards/ID were just fine. It was when I started sticking cash in there it would get bulky mostly because the way I folded my cash (just once across horizontally) the bills were too wide for the case to close smoothly. If you've got more than 3 or 4 bills in there, it starts getting really bulky and unable to stay closed completely.

It is the opposite of my style. I think it would have been cool as a case for a cassette player. I don't get it. How do you answer the phone? Folding the flap back? I think that alone would drive me nut.

That is exactly what you had to do and exactly why I don't have one anymore. I liked the styling at first, but after a while the novelty wore out.

It can get bulky in your front pocket and I have fairly loose fitting jeans. It became too bulky for me and I ended up ditching it.

So no one is using it as a phone? I am amazed that nobody else has noticed this, to me voice quality is critical, and sounding like you are on a 80'a hamburger phone just just not an option.

accidently ripped the id pocket since it's such a tight fit, twelvesouth wants to send a replacement rma but I'm wondering if I should deal with the hassle.

Should I just keep it as it is or exchange it?

This case really satisfies the market of people that like their iphone, but just wish it looked more like a hotel room bible. Oh, my phone is ringing. Let me open my bible to John 3:16 to answer it.

...and it's $60. Yikes.

Even if the voice quality is not an issue, how would you answer the phone with something that resemble a book? Fold back the front cover or let it dangle? It would bug the heck out of me.

I would instead use a headset. For me, that is another hassle to deal with.

I too am curious how people who use Book Book answer the phone. It's just pure curiosity, as I have no interest in the way it looks.
