At one time, I had over 1800 apps and 144 folders on my iPad. However, every time I try to move an app into a folder, and then push the home button to save it, the iPad reboots and returns me to where I was before I moved it.
Since then, I have deleted a lot of apps (down to 1632) from the iPad but have to move them a few at a time using iTunes and then sync them. Then I can move a few more. I hope to "weed it down" to just enough apps to leave page 11 blank.
I don't have any problems with running apps, music, videos, etc. It's only the arranging of apps that does not work properly. I don't think that Apple planned for someone having so many apps on it even though I have over 12GB of free space left. I think it is a combination of folders and apps that are causing the problem. GRRR!
I have talked to level 2 techs and also at the Apple store. I even have a replacement iPad2. Still the same problems.
I hope someone has a solution since Mr. Jobs stated that we can have over 2000 apps on the iPad when he introduced folders publically at the live meeting last year. ;)
I conduct a monthly meeting for over 60 computer club members specifically on the iPhone and iPad. It would be nice to not have this problem to show them this month at the meeting. :D

I don't use all of them right now.

I was able to get 99% of them for free:D and am saving them for later on when I need them. Then I won't need to pay for them later on. I do this for language translations, travel in other countries, etc. Actually, I have over 1800 apps but just can't get the iPad2 to cooperate with that many.

You will not ever need 99% of them. I would not expect the iPad to play nice with that many applications.

You don't need to hoard apps. Once you download an app that is temporarily free, it will be registered as "purchased" for your account, regardless of any pricing changes later. You can delete it and redownload for free at your leisure. If you don't want to do that, you can just not sync all those apps with your iPad, and just leave them on your computer for future use.

They are on you PC so you don't need to keep them on your iPad.

And when you finally do go to use them you'll find out that they're out of date... unless you intend on downloading IPAs for every version of the app

+1 for w00t and -1632 for you. HTF could you possible need even 1% of that?

This would make a great episode of hoarders. There is no reason at all to have that many apps, even half of that is too many. Especially since its causing you problems and crashing your iPad.

Holy %$&@!! 1632 apps? Do you just download everything you see on the app store?

Seriously.. just go through and delete more of them, your problems will probably go away then.. There is absolutely no need for that many.

I must be using mine wrong, I have less apps than on my iPhone 4 and it's only got about 30. Yet I like a minimal setup where all apps are used.

After reading 3 sentences, I feel this thread is bogus. I say this is fake, or the OP has some severe problems letting go. I honestly would have trouble getting 200 apps.

Super Saver

Apps do get an update whenever there is one so they are always ready to use. I guess I use it a lot more than the desktop computer. I am gradually removing some of the apps, thank you. ;)

post screens of your iPad, we want see that

That's far too many apps! lol.

why don't you only keep the apps you actively use on the device, save space! then when you need one you already have, just redownload it via the app store if you're out and about via the cloud, or if at home, via itunes, which ever! :) saves alot of hassle
