Glad to hear you are feeling better. :)

I've been there before... many times. It's an opportunity to find out and show what you are made of, and to potentially impress management. Do a great job, but not so great that it looks like you can easily handle it all, otherwise it will likely be a permanent thing.
That's almost like the piece of advice my ex-apple employee said as I sought help from friends like him that have been through the industry a little more than me ;) . The ex employee called me to check how I was doing, even after conference calls from the administration to discuss my concern I had with that manager who did not accommodate me appropriately, after all these employees left, including two closest to the role I am working on.

I am glad the admins had let go of the manager in question after they took appropriate action including imposing administrative leave. This resulted in an extension of the deadline of the documentation we are working on, which not only lets us rest for the 4th of July but for the supervisor to also work with the admins on finding a replacement manager. I had two friends + a therapist that backed me up and prepared me to handle this situation accordingly.

I have another conference call for follow up with the admins after my regularly scheduled work meeting and before therapy... let's see how it goes next week. Cheers.

That used to be the same for me, but I’ve been taking them for so long that my body has become used to them.

It’s 5:30AM & I’m wide awake.

Wishing you well.
After a vacation I’ve been waking up at 4am like clockwork and can’t get back to sleep until around 8am. I have no problem getting to sleep. I take 1.5 mg of melatonin each night. It’s annoying as heck and horrible on the days I have to go into the office.

I’m pleased for you, my friend.

I just went mad at my prescription clerk, and told her not to send me any more medication, if they don’t re-prescribe my zopiclone and lorazepam.

Now you watch me get unwell again 😡!
Make sure you come off any meds with the direction of a physician. Quitting cold turkey can have bad consequences.

You should try the static noises. Ive been told that green noise is effective for insomnia, but there are many to try. It's not wise to treat sleep disorders with drugs or a toy watch.

I have insomnia. How would obsessing about it with data help me?

It won't.

Exercise regularly, but not after 5pm.
Don't drink caffeine after 12pm.
No TV or electronics one hour before bedtime.
Get tested for depression and bipolar, because it could be a serotonin issue.

I take Trazodone for maintenance insomnia. Works great.

Lots of posts, I’ve not read this whole thread , regarding yours.
Good general advice, however ..
Lots of people work and can’t exercise before 5pm, myself and 100’s I know do mtb ride after 5pm 3-4 times a week ..

Also, as a guy .. after having sex I never have a problem sleeping

There's a lot to be said about not obsessing over it, but both I and my wife would not be happy to be told that when we were going OCD on the issue.

Tired and awake, and with plenty of time to get cranky and scrutinize the crappiness of the situation.... That's really no fun.

As I get older, I'm trying to not over-analyze situations, and having lots of data coming at you from a sleep-tracking device could feed OCD-driven research.

On the other hand, data can be useful if you treat it in a general way:

My watch says i got two hours less than the night before. WHY?????? Oh, I had a couple of whiskey drinks before bed and the dogs barked at 1 AM. Maybe I should lay off the alcohol tonight and take the dogs out for a post-dinner walk.

AND drop the analysis after that....

A little update.

I'm wearing my watch to bed, and I'm finding that I'm getting a reasonable amount of sleep, now.

I don't think the watch is completely accurate, but it offers a fairly good indication of time slept.

I don't obsess over the metrics, it's just nice to see roughly how much sleep I'm getting.

Thank you all for your input, and wishing you well.
