We have been lucky that every iphone launch maybe had a minor software bug that was easy to patch.

That changed with the iPhone 15 pro.

Phones overheating. BMW vehicles bricking the NFC chip. Powerbanks being charged by the iPhone instead of the other way around. OLED Burn-in.

I feel that this specific product has one of the worst product launches Apple has ever had. I think the product was released before it was ready.

Will the executive chef at Apple figure out how to fix this dumpster fire?

They're not responsible in part. I honestly think things were missed by Apple with the iPhone 15 Pro and it was released before it was ready.

I will go read over about the iPhone 4 launch again.

What evidence do you have that Apple released the 15 Pro prematurely, knowing there would be significant user problems upon release?

Either you weren't here for other launches, you misremember or forgot the problems with other launches, or you weren't yet buying the iPhone with other launches.

You say 'We have been lucky that every iphone launch maybe had a minor software bug that was easy to patch.' Yet, Scuffgate with the iPhone 5 was real. People going through 10 boxes of retail iPhones in an Apple store before being stopped by Apple employees was real. Every one had a defect. There is a 180+ page on defects with the iPhone 5.

iOS 9 launch? Apple had to rescind the upgrade and allow people to downgrade back to iOS 8 while they fixed iOS 9. It wasn't a minor software bug that was easy to patch.

Those are off the top of my head. Someone else mentioned the launch of the iPhone 4. So, I'm sure there are others.

I don't buy iPhone's every year, but i don't remember it being it this bad as last time.

Seems people were already pre-ordering while the pre-order didn't open up for me yet (yes, I was refreshing the browser). So by the time I finally got in the pre-order, there were already massive delays.

This entire pre-order thing was a huge IT mess by Apple.

iPhone 4 literally had Steve coming out on stage to hold a defense speech for the product.

Otherwise, seems to be receiving a bit more flak than most launches I agree. Like with the iPhone 4, they have had to acknowledge that there is a problem and that they worked on fixing it. Other years it's mostly just people not knowing how to handle a phone..

iPhone 4 launch was worse.
How so? Antennagate?

I ask because if you didn’t hold your phone that way you didn’t have a problem. 😉

I wouldn’t say the launch of that phone, selling 3 million units in 22 days per Apple was a “bad launch”. I had an iPhone 4. I could demonstrate the “death grip” but I didn’t have an issue in normal usage. I had to go out of my way to cause a problem.

Other than that, network issues belong mostly with the network.

This is pretty typical. A bunch of issues minor or major blown to some exaggerated proportion and causing some drama.

And almost every time, the real population of users out there didn’t even notice, nor cared. Or if they did, it eventually got fixed and passes. In the most extreme case, Apple offered cases (bumpers?) to help with antenna issues, but that was a very long time ago.

You forgot titanium scratching and the FineWoven controversy.

It does happen every year and last year I could not use my phone’s camera or Meta apps for fear of my camera shaking to pieces. This year I guess it’s heat.

I will say this year is special in having more QC issues with fit and finish with the pro line. I was just at the mall to get some wine for the weekend and passed by the Apple Store to check out some phones. Yup, the Pro Max was very warm - but that is old hat now. I did see a gap between the glass and titanium frame and it kind of jumped out at me. So yes, I understand why some newbie posters are upset enough register and complain here. Apple used to be really good at this stuff (i.e. fit and finish). I blame it all on using a metal that is harder to work with - titanium - they should have stuck with aluminum or curved stainless steel and aluminum.

LOL this must be your first rodeo. Every time Apple releases a new phone, people come out of the woodwork to complain. Worst launch ever! Steve would never let this happen! What is Tim Cook doing? Apple has lost its way. My (fill in the blank phone) was better/faster/lighter/heavier than this iPhone. And so goes the circle of life.

Ready or not, a new iPhone will launch every year in September. Apple headquarters knows damn well there’s unfinished problems to be worked out - but the show must go on, and a new iPhone will launch with all its issues too.

Here is a comprehensive list, in order, of every iPhone launch that was worse than all prior iPhone launches:

1. iPhone 15
2. iPhone 14
3. iPhone 13
4. iPhone 12
5. iPhone 11
6. iPhone XS
7. iPhone X
8. iPhone 9
9. iPhone 8
10. iPhone 7
11. iPhone 6S
12. iPhone 6
13. iPhone 5S
14. iPhone 5
15. iPhone 4S
16. iPhone 4

That’s the best part of being at Macrumors - the launch of another iPhone. To the newbies here fear not - we love you and this place would be a graveyard without people moaning about every dead pixel and scratch in a new phone. Complain, complain and complain!

Keep it up! 🤣

Nothing has beaten the iPhone 4 disaster yet.

There was no software fix. And the CEO deflected by saying the phones were being held wrong.

Forcing Apple to give out free bumpers to mitigate a hardware design flaw from factory.

iPhone 15 Pro 'issues' are nothing compared to that
