I think it's a given that you probably didn't do your research before purchasing the MBP and instead relied heavily on your friend's advises of what [specs] to get.

It's like several months from now, responding to a guy that will post that he did not know about the features available in Lion so he purchased SL at the store to upgrade. But if he had googled about Lion, he would've found tons of results dating back to February.

The thing is, nobody knew about the specs for the new MBP but everybody knew a refresh was down the line.

What makes me further think you didn't do your research was how you compared iTunes to PSN and Live! Marketplace. I was at the store earlier and wanted to play with the new 15'' to see how the performance was like but instead they were taken up by young teenagers taking photobooth pics and checking out their facebook/iPhoto. God why couldn't they have done that on the MBAs that were available? You're not one of THOSE kinds of mac owners are you? Because I'm sure I could've sold them a $3000 machine too if I were an Apple retail employee.

Also, you can get AC for less elsewhere. The other poster didn't mean you get tech support for less elsewhere, he means AC for less. You can find it cheaper on say Amazon then register it to your machine.

I ordered a new Macbook Pro a few weeks ago from the Apple store, which arrived on Monday. Took a while because they had to build it. My old PC broke, so I took a lot of friend's advice and bought a Macbook Pro.

Firstly, my old PC broke and I never knew you couldn't download your albums, songs, games, etc. again if this happened. Got my new Macbook Pro, signed into Itunes from it and there was nothing there. They said it said when I downloaded them that it was advisable to make a backup copy, and I remember it saying that but I didn't know it was because you couldn't download them again. I thought it was like other services that let you download purchases, take them off, download again whenever you want (like X Box Live and Sony's Playstation Network). So I guess I'm just out of the 200 or so albums I downloaded, along with 40 games, a movie and some song singles. A few thousand bucks.

Well, that part is ITunes related, but hey, it's still Apple related.

If you bought a CD from Best Buy and it somehow became scratched and unplayable would you expect them to give you a new one for free? Of course not, because you understand that the local Best Buy has incurred some expenses in bringing that CD to the store shelf (their purchase price from the music label, transportation, warehousing, store staff, etc). While iTunes doesn't have as many expenses as Best Buy, that doesn't mean they don't have any. They have stated in the past that they must pay the music labels for EVERY download, regardless of whether the user has previously bought the conent. This is why they tell you to make backups, and why they won't let you just redownload at will.

Your issue here has nothing to do with Apple or iTunes at all. It has everything to do with the fact that you failed to perform a sufficient backup. Every computer blog, site, magazine, or radio show will tell you that a reliable backup is a MUST. Even Kim Kommando, the most dumbed down computer related show around, stresses this to her listeners. If you some how missed this message it is not Apple's fault, and by blaming them for the resulting situation you invite critisizim.

Starting right now I strongly advise you to follow the 3-2-1 method of backing up. You should have at least 3 copies of every single file you care about, on at least 2 different types of media (hard drive, optical disc, etc.), with at least 1 of those copies being off site (relative's house, safe deposit box, cloud, etc.).

Is this one of those dickish "I know more **** about this than you" boards?

You said you were whining and you were right.

You've been offered solutions to just about every complaint that you had and I don't see any followup, just more whining.

You didn't back up your content. You didn't research your purchase, or Applecare, etc, etc. Other people aren't responsible for your dissatisfaction, you are.

Lastly, the only thing you complained about that has anything to do with your thread title is the finger smudge thing.
