@WPB2 - So your wife would be getting 2 contracts (via signature)?
Wouldn't you need to be present to sign if you want one of those contracts to be under your name? The baby sure as heck can't ;)

It will be a family plan, duh, The phone service i have now in in her name only (alltel). I think it can be done, same way if parent and kid want to get phones no matter what age they are even it they are like 15 years old they cant sign a legal document. so why cant my wife and daughter get 2 iphones? make perfect sense.:D

I got this at my University AT&T store, admittedly it isn't an official AT&T handout (they even put "iphone" in the 2nd to last line), but it does say that a discount is available.

Well that gives me some hope...

Ugh, this is so frustrating.

This is why this particular aspect of iPhone 3G is confusing.

For sanity's sake, personally I'm going to not even speculate any further about it until launch day. I'm not even getting rid of my 2G version until a 32GB 3G is released or my current contract expires (whichever comes first), so I don't know why I'm even worried about it!! :D

If it was a family plan, i'd imagine you could get more than 1 ;)
I haven't reviewed the family plan pricing. I think your wife could do a great hoax on the other punters though, by saying the other phones for the 2 year old daughter... hehe

Well, Thanks OP. mostly same info we already know right?

I just don't like 1 per person in line. I want to get one for my wife and I for the family plan. That sucks because we'll never be able to get it since we work different hours. oh well.

botttom of second page:
"There are no equipment or monthly service available with the purchase of an iPhone"

so does this mean no corporate/student discounts on the monthly service fees?

I thought discounts were acceptable with 3g!

Any theories why not? The previous official internal email from ATT said there were discounts. Which way is it? Could they have changed their mind? Or are they just messed up?

Have they ever publicly announced either way?

Does your school bookstore offer the phone? Is there an AT&T in there or how are you able to buy one there?

You're kidding, right? I have ~48 GB of music and ~(thinks)500-700 GB of shows/movies. Trying to suggest that 8, let alone 32 GB is adequate is ridiculous (I only carry my music on me as well). I know I'm on the low end of the amount of media as well.

I don't think he was kidding. Many people do not have even close to the amount of 500-700 GB of video. Most of their hard drives are a third of that......

I agree that the video amount IS excessive (mostly burnd on DVDs), but the iPhone (to me at least) is a phone+iPod first, then video. 45 GB of music is not a lot, and I would even be happy with a 32/40 GB version of the iPhone, but it's tough trying to fit 1/5 of you music on something that should be the only iPod you carry around. I'm sure many feel the same way.

Apple is supplying a phone with the MOST storage onboard in the world and doing it now... at a cost effective price.

Quit your bitching and learn how to use iTunes to trade out what you want to hear or watch.

If you're expecting Apple to put out a 500gb iPhone than you'll be carrying around the bricks for phones that we had in the 80's.

If you don't like, don't buy it, just quit bitching about it.

I own a 2g and I'm buying a 3G iPhone and I'll probably buy the next one if the other competition is as pathetic as the choice we have today.

For me, the iPhone is the perfect tool for everything with the exception of corporate email. We're on Lotus Notes. Should I hate Apple for not having Notes as well as Exchange?

They gave what the vast majority of corporate end users are using for push email a solution.

Now I know damn well you didn't buy all those songs from itunes that would be millions worth. I buy all my songs from itunes and only have 6GB and been a ipod haver (like the way it sounds) since 2003

Gotta love that IBM Lotus notes, I had it at my last job, and loved it. I don't like Outlook (got it now) it is slow i think.

Heehee....the true question is, what won't I put on it?!

No really, I have ~61GB of music and ~430GB of movies/tv shows/other stuff. On my current 8gigger, I carry ~3gigs of music (playlists are the answer) and the rest is filled with 2 movies, some TV shows and video podcasts, and photos. I guess you could say I keep it filled to the brim (but I do have ~150Mb worth of free space).

Basically, a 32GB iPhone would let me take more stuff with me, and allow me to not have to change my selections so frequently.

What in the future may be more viable, is streaming either via wi-fi, or HSDPA, or your remote drives, which in effect reduces the effect of having a capacity iPhone much smaller than your total multimedia collection.

I'd imagine more than a handful have some amount of lossless music collections (Apple lossless, flac etc), and uncompressed dvd iso's. Basically, larger drives allows you to store the original lossless files.

Did anyone catch where it said there were no service discounts on the iPhone line?

Gulp...I was kind of counting on that.

discounts

If there are discounts, how much will they be? Should I just ask on launch day and who are they for?

It kinda looks like left over boiler plate from the original iPhone. Through the rest of the info they always refer to the "iPhone 3G" as opposed to "iPhone"

Oy vey...

Calm down...

Most of us with large libraries are currently using iTunes efficiently to change out our media selections. Everyone just has a different perspective on how much music/media they would like to take with them. No perspective is better than the other, just different.

Showing the iPhone Family Plans actually just confuses people. Just look at the regular AT&T Family plans. Add $20/month for each 2G iPhone and/or $30 for each 3G iPhone. You are NOT limited to the "special" iPhone plans listed as such.

thank you so much! That would be much simplier.

Will moving my individual phone to a family plan extend my contract, or mine would stay the same and the new phone would get 2 years?

i was specifically told at an at&t store that there would be educational discounts.

also, there isn't really any new info here, is there? or did i miss something?
