Yuck! I hadn't considered that.

In my scenario where I keep my existing 2G phone and add a line for the 3G, in the family plan, I get to keep my 200 Txts in the $20 data fee for the origional fee, right? Then can I add the $5 plan to the other phone or am I obligated to pay the $50 data (20 + 30) plus 30 for texts to cover the second phone on a family plan?
Yes, your current iPhone will continue to have the 200 TXT MSGs. When you add the $5 Text MSG plan to your iPhone 3G you will have 200 TXT MSGs on it, just to be clear, to share Text MSG plans across phones on a FamilyTalk plan you need the FamilyTalk Unlimited Tesx plan.

Dang...I'm going to be ticked if I walk in their to switch my wife and I over from Verizon and the only let me get one phone.
Please note; the limit says a key word "line" if there is not a big line or you don't go on July 11, you should not have any problems purchasing more then one.:)

So if I am reading this correctly if I choose to leave Verizon and come to AT&T to start a family plan at 129.99 I will NOT be able to add 200 txts for 5 to each line. That sucks. So its either 30 for unlimited or nothing?

yes it says individual because u r adding 200 texts to one individual line instead of the family bundle, u can add any of those if u want to.

from what i understand, you can do it online, but you don't have to do it that way.

the att rep. never said anything about having to confirm anything online. he just told i'd be able to get the 15% off.

as long as u bring a paystub or work ID we can do it in the store.

My work discount is 15% but it also has 0 activation fees. (Premier member)
Do I need to bring extra documentation for this (i.e. print out the webpage that says 0 activation fees?)

i called to get the number for my employee discount. i get it through the parent corp that owns the company i work at (a computer company, rather not say here but its widely known). will they hassle me at the store because of that? i get 21% off service and activation fee is waived. i can pm you the info if you need it

I'm 16 and am an authorized user on my mom's account, we have 2 different lines on the same account. Will I need to bring my mom with me to get the iPhone 3G or can I just go and get it myself.

And another question, should I be worried about my 3G coverage? My area is covered with it but like a few miles east there isn't any. There is complete coverage to the west though.

I'm the same way at my work. We get 18% off, activation waived, and only a one-year contract -- there's a webpage that describes this -- would bringing this to the AT&T store when I buy the iPhone be sufficient?

Details on this are at http://www.texastech.edu/it/commSvs/wireless/personal/pricing.aspx

Thanks for any advice! I'd sure love to take advantage of the 1 year contract, waived activation fee and 20% off accessories!

all your discount info is saved on your accts, u dont have to bring anything in...

w/ the iphone everyone will be required to sign a 2yr contract, no exceptions on that one unfortunately... even on my employee acct (no contract) i have to switch to a consumer acct and get a 2yr agreement.

no discounts allowed on iphone accessories.

NO you DO NOT have to bring you mom to att to get the new iphone ...because i just had my grandfather call and put me as an authorized user .and i called att many times and talked to many att reps they said an authorized user CAN sign a contract and make changes to the account..i am 20 though..so im not sure if you being 16 will make a difference call att and ask

probably will have to bring her, considering they can't legally get a minor to sign on to a binding contract

I called and they said I needed a number, maybe it was a FAN number or some type of acronym like that. I went to the website and had a premier link emailed to me and says I will get 20% off, but it doesn't offer the option of buying an iphone. So, are you positive a paystub will work?

then a work ID or paystub and we can find the discount code for u

This is actually incorrect in most states. Most states consider a person under the age of 18 to be a minor. But they still can enter into a legal contract, which can be held binding against the 'adult' party if the child later chooses to disaffirm. Most states say a minor is allowed to disaffirm a contract in order to protect them from a unfair deal. This is why it is up to the offeror (At&t in this case) to limit who they will contract with to protect themselves. And it is within their power to limit their contracts to people over the age of 18.

yea we have the search site in our computer to find the FAN numbers, so as long as you're sure ur company has a discount, we can find it... if u go in there and they say they need that number, then they are lazy and just need to look in their computer, all cor stores have it.

and yes either a paystub or work ID will work.
