Thanks for the help guys. As you can see I don't know much about It. What would happen if I put it in dhu mode on a computer that only has 3.13 on it?

Nothing, itunes will download 4.0.1 and restore it to that.
Trust me if you have no SHSH's saved for previous builts theres no way to restore to anything but the latest firmware thats out. If there was a way we'd let you know.

You need to tell Apple to get rid of the reset all content option. :D

Yes, alot of people dont understand what that option is or does untill they hit it and they're sitting there pulling their hair off:D
Some think it will just delete their stuff off the phone and leave the OS, JB and unlock untouched.
Others think their iphone will turn into a blender and so on :D

iTunes would say "This device is not eligible for the requested build" and it would prompt you to install iOS 4.0.

What are the other options posted above. Something about since my phone was jailbroken via pawnage with 3.12 I will be able to unlock the 4.01

Forget what I wrote. You have to restore your phone in DFU mode (since your phone was erased) and once that’s over you’ll be on 4.0.1 and the new bottom, which removes the ability to do what I wrote.

BTW, no one mentioned it, but NEVER use erase all content on a jailbroken phone. It invariably screws up the phone. Hopefully, you can even get into DFU mode to restore the phone to 4.0.1.

Great. I really hope I can atleast get 4.0 on it.

The only firmware that you will be able to load onto your iPhone now is 4.0.1.
Comex is currently developing a jailbreak for people in your position, as well as the iPhone 4. Rumor has it that the release is within days.
When it is released, jailbreak your phone. From here on out, hit the "Make my life easier" button in Cydia when it prompts you, as it does just that. Remember not to restore or erase all content and settings anymore, it will leave your device unjailbroken for the time being. Just play it safe and wait for the Dev Team to advise on when to update.

This is another one of those "I just can't imagine why the OP did this" threads !

Sorry OP, truth is the truth.

Might I suggest that before you do anything else radical to your 3GS in the future, pause and use Google to see the expected results so you can evaluate the wisdom of what you are considering doing.

Agreed, one would think that they would know not to push it from the name of the button.

I agree.
But instead they try to do stuff they dont know about and then ask questions later:D

Is your iphone 3.1.2 or 3.12?

It seems that you are new to the scene. You should do more reading before doing any 'stupid' things with your iphone. Members here do try to help you but you don't seem to even google information.

Last week there was a thread about a guy who jailbroke his iPhone, saw Cydia, then didn't know what to do so he restored his phone.
Some people are just uneducated, it seems like it takes one big screw up for people to learn what to do.
