I just bought the new 2013 imac thread

Ordered mine today:

27"
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
1TB Fusion Drive
3.2GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1 GB GDDR5

I'll upgrade the RAM later to 16GB or higher. I'm just glad I got the Fusion drive this time.

I just ordered:

NVIDIAGeForceGTX775M 2GB GDDR5
3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
1TB Fusion Drive

I've decided GTX775M will be more than enough to play CIV V and other strategy games. FPS and others go to PS3 :)

Just ordered 1st imac (8th mac or so starting in 1998 with the venerable Power Mac 9600)
For ProAudio recording and mixing

NVIDIAGeForceGTX775M 2GB GDDR5
3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB (will max out later)
512GB PCIe SSD!

My new (and very first) iMac arrived today :). I'm stunned! It is absolutely incredible. My Windows PC now looks like a pile of poo. I've never used a Mac of any kind before so I guess I've got a bit of a learning curve ahead of me.

My keyboard has got a slight dent in the casing...looks like it hit something! One phone call to Apple and a new keyboard has already been dispatched to me.

And how's this for service? I phoned Apple regarding the keyboard problem at 3pm yesterday. A new keyboard arrived at 9am today.

I know exactly what you mean. My first iMac arrived last month and I am still enjoying to sit on my chair and just use it. Everything runs like clockwork, it's dead silent and .. well.. everything just works. :)

Got a bit of a learning curve myself but I enjoy every minute of it. Only thing I'm not too sure about is the mouse and keyboard.

Here is my 27" xD

Intel Core i7 quad core, 3,5GHz, Turbo Boost até 3,9GHz
16GB de SDRAM DDR3, 1600MHz - 2X8GB
512GB Flash storage
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M com 4GB de GDDR5

Hello everyone!

Ordered mine last week and waiting ever so patiently for it to be delivered. One question though...

Since i only ordered 8GB of RAM, i'll be replacing that with 32GB of 3rd party RAM eventually. What i wanted to know is, is there any difference in installing the 3rd party RAM before i first switch the iMac on (for the first time) or a couple of weeks if not months after use. Does it matter when i install the RAM? Will it affect the system in any way shape or form?

Cheers!

I am doing the same on my new 27" i7 (Crucial 16GB upgrade) but I am doing the setup+transfer first and installing the two additional RAM banks only later on. I want to test the original config first.

Nope. Install the RAM whenever you please.
