The iPod Touch is durable, but I mean, you got lucky. Cause there are tons of other posts on these forums of other people dropping their iPods, iPhones, iPod Touchs etc, into toilets or large bodies of water, and then have it not work, even if they put it on a large towel and let it dry for days, or put it into a bowl of rice. The whole point of your story should be to not take those expensive pieces of hardware into areas like a toilet or a pool, cause you may end up with a dead iPod.

The main purpose of posting the story was to demonstrate how durable the ipod touch is, not to invoke a storm of toilet humour! Oh well, just rest assured that the story is purely factual, and the ipod touch is now fine.

after reading your attempt to scam apple (and subsequently members on this forum including myself who own apple stock) i kinda wished your ipod was indeed broke as you would have deserved it...........

with that said, be thankful yours continued to function

I'd say the water sensor is also a scam, seeing as my first iPod broke due what must have been humidity, and it was claimed that it was water damage.

It's not reliable.

The title of this thread cracks me up!! You guys have got to keep your fancy electronics away from water. Far away. I don't even put a cup of any fluid on the same table as any of my stuff. My drinks stay on the floor or another table. That is the rule in my house. Forget using an iPod in the bathroom!!!

i have to admit...I use my touch in the bathroom, at work, on the bus, at the gym, at church, in meetings, in bed, in the car, while fishing, on trips...heck, pretty much everywhere.

This thing has become so addictive that you might as well sew it to my hand.

Although I've never dropped it in the toilet, yet.

E. coli.

So if I pay $5000 for a new mac pro and throw it in a lake, I deserve a new one just because I paid a lot for it?

no you deserve a moron helmet for

a) throwing it in a lake
b) producing a stupid hypothetical situation that had absolutley no relevance to the original incident.

and you need a slap in the face.

this has relevance just think of the mac pro as the ipod touch, and the lake as the toilet, and voila look, its the same!

So it's okay because he coughs up money for the technology, but not when I do? As PMB nicely stated, the mac is the iPod and the lake is the toilet.

But since he accidently dropped it in the toilet, what if I accidently dropped it in a lake?

Why would you accidentally Drop $5,000 dollars in a LAKE. In the first place...WHY WOULD U EVEN BRING IT?! o_O
Do you not see how a lake is 5x bigger then a toilet? And do you not see how ur not sitting at a lake taking a dump?

The point is that it doesn't matter how much you pay for something. When you ruin it, intentional or not, nobody is obligated to give you a new thing nor do you deserve a replacement. It's not like I'm really gonna go and throw my computer in a lake...

And just with your 5x bigger comment, that would either have to be a really small lake or a huge toilet!

Actually, I've dropped my PSP into a pool before. I was sitting near the pool with the PSP on my lap. I got up thinking the PSP was in my pocket when it fell into the water. It got completely submerged when I stuck my hand in to get it out. It didn't turn on until the next day when it had dried. The only thing that stopped functioning was the battery which I had to replace.

Ah, I understand now. :p But you have to admit. There has been a time you replaced something when there wasn't really anything wrong with it ;)

I don't think anyone believes the OP deserves a new iPod touch. But if you somehow managed to drop your computer in a lake and managed to get Apple to send you a new one for free, I'd say more power to you. I wouldn't express the level of outrage that a few here have exhibited.

I'm sure if the OP dropped a Zune in the toilet and got one for free, no one here would be upset.
