It's only free for simple (i.e., 1040EZ returns) and I believe you also have to be a low-income qualifier as well.

Hr Block is similar. Once you file specific forms or more complicated 1040, then they start charging.

Okay, because they were charging me $65.00 to buy & download TurboTax State and Federal. Or something similar to that. Basically, wanted me to pay for a TurboTax software download from the App Store.

H&R Block's software is cheaper. I bought it from Amazon, I think it was around 35 bucks and included one free state program. The only catch is, they charge to e-file the state return, so I just print it out and mail it in. Missouri is super fast with returns - I usually get my MO refund faster than my e-filed Federal refund.

My federal return is in the hands of the IRS, though I couldn't submit my state yet - it seems form 1 for Massachusetts has not been finalized yet. I didn't see any estimate on getting the money, but that's ok. I can wait.

I'm glad a went over the numbers one final time, because I noticed a mistake that would have shorted my return significantly. Its always good to double check your figures even when using software to process the return :)

I don't quite have anything fun planned. I need to spend most of the refund on a new air handler so I have heat/air and a home warranty so I am not in this position again or if I rent the house, I will have a way to fix what may end up broken. As much as I hate it, it will really reduce some stresses so in the long run, that's a good thing. Anything left over goes to a very old outstanding debt that I really need to handle.

Federal refund is in my savings account.

State of Michigan isn't yet, but it was accepted a few days later, so perhaps end of week/early next week.

My federal and state are filed.

I am getting a decent return which will be spent on installing a new gas tankless water heater. The one in my house now works but is almost 30 years old so it is long overdue to be replaced.

The "Where's my Refund" updated overnight and we are now showing approved. Our direct deposit date is scheduled for 2/12. :). From what I've seen, people who filed with Turbo Tax received their refunds quicker than people who used HR Block. As you may have guessed, I used the latter. Lol

Meeting with my CPA this week. I think I pretty much have everything together except my Roth IRA investment. Got to run the numbers on that and figure out where it is going. My wife owning a small business means never seeing a 1040EZ or 1040A ever again! Not to mention the Schedule A's, Schedule B's, and Schedule F's I have to fill out!

Nonsense! You could always have one framed and place it on your desk once a year during tax time. :D

I filed my taxes via turbo tax last monday and yesterday I saw the refund sitting in my checking - quick :D

Just filed, only getting $840 back from Federal, but $202 from State. Not an enough $$ amount to buy something, so I think it'll go into my rainy day fund.

We're using our return for non exciting stuff like paying bills and what not. I'll shove some in the bank as well.

Finally was able to file my state taxes. While not a lot, its a refund so I'll be happy to see that land in my bank account. :)

Well, it finally arrived! My tax return just hit my bank this morning. :) I already ordered my thunderbolt monitor from Apple. Now on to Amazon to find a NAS.

Just e-filed my fed and prepared my state for mailing (because a postage stamp is a lot cheaper than H&R's ridiculous $20 state e-filing fee). Between state and fed, I get exactly $2,300 back.

I bought a house in September so I only had a few months of mortgage interest and real estate tax I could deduct, I can't wait until I do my taxes next year and get to deduct a year's worth!

well, I've ordered my Thunderbolt monitor, a wacom tablet, CS6, bought my wife a MBP, ordered an Synology DS414 and two WD red 4gb drives. yeah, I enjoyed our refund. Developing on a larger monitor will be so much easier. :)
