Glad you are safe, I personally would want the gun pointed at my head.

Being prior military, and learning self defense tactics in the Marine Corps. Having the gun pointed at your head allows you more room to manuever.

Say it's pointed at your head, and he asks you to empty your pockets, when you go to give give him whatever it is and the gun is still head level. In synchronized motion, you drop quickly a couple inches(while bringing both hands up to grasp his hand holding the gun)

At this point you have control of the hand(with the gun)

After a few beers, the OP was in no condition to do any of that. It's best to just do what someone with a gun asks, until the situation actually turns life or death.

Yup, nothing you can really do in that situation except hope for a chance to spray em down when they're making the getaway.

did this happpend in los angeles OP?

(if it did no surprise....lol):p

anyways hope you can setttle down, i bet it was a rush of adrenaline

you should seriously consider filing a police report with the LAPD....

to the girls in my school the police tell them, if your raped or was going to get raped, file a police report anyways to at least get some investigation going.

You know, when it is an enemy combatant who wants to kill you this might be sound advice. When you are being mugged and trivial belongings are at stake, your life is worth more.

OP, you did the right thing.
Now continue to do the right thing and report the crime.

Really? Something like this could happen anywhere.....

What part of LA did this happen in? What neighborhood?

i know it can, but some neighborhoods are worse than others in LA...

i live in inglewood and it's probably not the best place to walk alone at night.....

while i go to to school at irvine..... i wouldn't be too afraid walking knowing the FBI ranked it the 3rd safest city in america.

but it's also logical "why are you walking alone or hanging outside on streets at night?" "night time is dangerous"

always have a buddy or two to walk with.:)

That's true, I didn't know he had a couple of beers. But for regular civilians, I wouldn't advice doing what I said above. I'm no badass or anything like that, but I'm not likely to go down without a fight, I may have a death wish but I honestly don't like taking **** from anyone. I hate the world enough cause things like this happen all the time in our own backyard.

While we have guys out there sacrificing their life everyday, to provide others with the comfort of living. Whether it be law enforcement, firefighters or military personnel etc... It's sad what the world has come too, 2 tours in Iraq will definitely change your perspective on things.

I would've loved to Jack Bauer him but that gun people. That gun instantly gave him like an extra Queen in our twenty second chess game we were playing.

The thread title implies that one can be held up at gun point figuratively.

I'm finding it impossible to imagine a way how this happens that doesn't involve a penis.

Yeah imthought the same thing while I was posting this last night after the incident.

Looks like someone did bring it up. :D

Wow. I'm not sure how I would react in the same situation. I'm glad you and your friend are okay.

"Yo Homey... Is that my briefcase?"

Glad you're okay, fortunately in my state - we don't have to resort to cowering in fear and hoping the perp doesn't execute us.

What do you do? Pull out a gun and have an old fashioned gun fight?

however my buddy who was with me at the time (no more than an hour ago), went home w/o saying a word the drive home.

.

My buddy was freaking out, replaying the moment in his head...telling me things could've gone very different. He mentioned how they (them w/ them guns) looked just as scared as we were; probably too afraid to actually pull a trigger.

Joie de vivre.

Did your friend talk on the way home or not. Your story is conflicting.

Lukcily all my cards can be replaced, as i've just gotten off the phone with all the card companies..

What pisses me off is they have my driver's license, hence my information.

They didn't use any of my cards.

And they got away w/ my Universal Studios year pass. Seriously.

Well. He wasn't initiating any talk at all.

I put on his car stereo in search of some relaxing music but he said he wanted pure quiet. I feared his level of freaking out would pour over to me so I continued joking around, wondering out loud if the guys that mugged us would fingerblast and gangbang the girl in their truck that same night. My friend was in no mood for jokes.

As I said before, I really didn't feel in danger. Those guys looked just as scared as we were, with their advantage of having guns.

The moment they pointed the guns at us my buddy kept repeating in a freaking out tone, "oh god. oh god." (Of which all took place in 20 seconds)

We parked at a Starbucks to get Wifi so I could cancel my cards and a random patrol car slowly drove past us. My friend was still very jumpy and once again yelled, "Oh my god" thinking something similar would happen again.

-

I just spoke with him and turns out he called the police dept. himself, describing as much as he could. He's just more upset that I lost my wallet...

...of which i'm upset they got my drivers license and my home address...

........& Universal Studios year pass of course too.

Glad you got out ok...Sucks to lose that stuff, but better than getting shot.

Years ago, when I was young and dumb (probably 19 or so at the time), I let someone I knew talk me into driving into northeast philly to score some blow.
I ended up with a gun to my head, and lost my wallet and cash.

Afterwards, the guy I was with wanted to try again (he still had his cash), needless to say I answered that with a resounding no. That was probably the most f'd up night i ever had.

F8ck.

Yeah, this night instantly ranks up there for me now too.

Rofl. Northeast is the safer part of the city.
You must've looked real out of place for someone to target you.

I'm not too sure why I'm posting this here, thinking posting a thread about it might diminish the event that just took place....however my buddy who was with me at the time (no more than an hour ago), went home w/o saying a word the drive home.

My friend was gonna drop me off but before doing so we parked at some resedential st. to quickly take a piss. (lol).

Rather than immediately get back in the car we decide to lean back against his car's trunk and just catch up. 5 minutes later, a red truck screeches right up to our car. We don't get into cautionary mode; just continue to stand there to see what's going on. The driver get out, wearing the cliche oversized hoodie with a gun in hand asking for us to empty our pockets. My buddy literally had nothing in his pockets and said so. I had my wallet (w/ cards & $120 cash) and my iPod Touch. I really didn't want to give them either however the passenger got out of the car with a gun in his hand too. Being a bit buzzed I hesitated giving him my wallet considering having to call 3 banks to cancel the cards and having to replace my library card and w/e else. Really the main concern was them obtaining my driver's license and them knowing my address.

Bare in mind that train of thought took place no more than 3 seconds while the guy was pointing a gun @ me; not to my face, but more towards stomach...which admittedly did give me that roller coaster drop stomach feeling.

I took out my wallet, wanting to only give him the cash and not my cards and wallet (god, I love(d) my wallet) but did so as them jammed out of there.

I tried to catch their license plate but it was seriously too dark. Plus I wouldn't doubt I was a bit tense in that situation.

We got out of there and called all my banking institutions to cancel my cards; however 2 don't open till 7am-ish to speak w/ a real person.

My buddy was freaking out, replaying the moment in his head...telling me things could've gone very different. He mentioned how they (them w/ them guns) looked just as scared as we were; probably too afraid to actually pull a trigger. Myself, in all honesty feel somewhat rushed with endorphins, considering they really only got away with cash. Yeah it was $120, but you know, it's paper,...it's paper.

It feels kinda good typing this out, getting the thoughts out. It sucks I lost some cash, and though I'm a bit upset that they got my cards making me now call them and ask for replacements...what really off-puts' me if them having my drivers license w/ my address. (I do have a current replacement fortunately)...

Oh well. It happened.

First time ever seeing a gun right up to me and ****.
Joie de vivre.

That's insane. Glad you're OK!
