Rofl. Northeast is the safer part of the city.
You must've looked real out of place for someone to target you.

actually it wasn't the NE. I forget exactly where we were, all that I remember is that we got off at Allegheny Ave. and ended up in an area where the street lights were broken out and that looked like it had been bombed.

Wow, that sounds like an experience I am sure all of us would have a hard time with, glad to read that both of you survived it. Just reading your account of that gives me chills.

Glad you are safe, I personally would want the gun pointed at my head.

Being prior military, and learning self defense tactics in the Marine Corps. Having the gun pointed at your head allows you more room to manuever.

Say it's pointed at your head, and he asks you to empty your pockets, when you go to give give him whatever it is and the gun is still head level. In synchronized motion, you drop quickly a couple inches(while bringing both hands up to grasp his hand holding the gun)

At this point you have control of the hand(with the gun)

These things happen. Your friend needs to start carrying some mugging money so he doesn't get hurt one day and you need to start carrying less.

Unbelievable comment... Seriously? Carry "Mugging Money"? The pussification of America continues to amaze me. When does it stop? Should you give them your wife? Your kids?

Take a course, learn to defend yourself and end the madness.... I refuse to give up... I carry and would never hesitate to defend myself or family.

It saddens me to no end to see the inhabitants of this country turning in to blubbering wimps... So glad the OP was not hurt, but, cowering away will do nothing to end any of this... Neither will more graduates of law schools..

are you serious? i have 3 blackbelts and i carry a CCW and I still keep mugging money and in some cases a mugging wallet. You never know whats going to happen, imagine if they were standing a few feet way from you, are you going to whip out your gun faster than their bullet or can you disarm them from 5 feet away using self defence tactics.

First of all, if you're walking around drunk - you present a much better target than someone who is not impaired and exhibiting a high level of situational awareness. Second, the majority of these thugs are simply preying on the weak and timid. I was in Spokompton a few years ago when a young gentlemen inquired whether I had any money to spare. After I told him that I wasn't interested and had no extra cash for him, he demanded to see my wallet or (I quote) "I'll mess you up." I politely declined but offered to show him my 1911. We parted ways quickly.

Cowardice emboldens criminals. Once they get kicked in the teeth a few times, other methods of employment begin to seem more suitable. Giving in simply encourages it.

Those who take upon themselves the responsibility of personal security could have most likely dealt with the situation easily.

1) They wouldn't be drunk.
2) They wouldn't have let the perp come nearly so close (situational awareness is the best weapon you can have.)
3) They would have identified cover and moved towards it if perp approached.

---

These steps would most likely preclude any further escalation. However, if it had - it would then be a simple matter of taking the appropriate action to eliminate the threat. Granted, this scenario largely depends on living somewhere that values the constitution and liberty. As you can see, the police cannot stop crime; they can only try to mop up afterward. I pity those who are dependent on a government bureaucracy to help them out of a jam.

Haha they'll only know the reality of such things, when it actually happens to them. :)

If they survive, yes.

But seriously, the false bravado of some of today's youth is not wise.

But there are those here, me included, that consider this as part of the "thinning of the herd". ;)

And I'm sorry about that, but there it is.

I could not agree more! Excellent reply!

You guys are talking a lot of trash about how you would deal with thugs and how weak the rest of us are, but what would you do if...

you and your family just got out of the car in a well lit parking lot; 2 thugs were hiding and jumped out of a parked car with their guns pointed at you and your wife/kids. what you gonna do now, superman?

Wow, with so many tough guys in this thread, the crime rate in America must be the envy of the civilized world!

easy answer, do what they say. If my wife and kids were with me(hypothetically speaking) then I wouldn't put the lives of my loved ones in danger no matter how well I know how to take a gun away from someone.

Dang bro, that really sucks. Just know that your life could end at any moment (not referencing this situation) and do not take it for granted. Hopefully nothing like that ever happens again, I would freak the **** out if it was me.
