this is really weird - in an awesome way!

i called last evening, and they said that it is still backordered...then checked this morning, and guess what - it shipped out last night from texas!!! wait it gets better - fedex also showed an 'out for delivery' message - and an hour back my wife called and said that it has been delivered...

i cant believe how this happened...
6pm last evening - out of stock
1pm today - already delivered...

ok - so now that i have that out of the way, cant wait to get home...can i activate it from home? i read somewhere that i can...

awesome!!!

Yes you can activate it from home. Premier orders include an instruction sheet for activation. Basically, you register it in itunes, then call premier support, feed them the IMEI and SIM number, power off the iphone and your old phone, power the iphone back on, and you're all set. They'll do test calls with you to make sure it works, then you're done.

thanks!

quick question - i just open the fedex package, and noticed that the iphone box itself was not sealed...i was able to just pop the box open...is this normal?

also, the bottom left corner of the iphone box is slightly banged up - nothing much, but just didnt expect this kind of stuff from apple...

anyway - am charging the phone now and cant wait to set it up...i am guessing the sim is already in the phone right?

thanks!

I dont think you can activate it from home. Great nickname btw. Congrats on your new phone.

Yes you can, I bought my 3G the day they came out when all the computers were down and they sent me home without a plan, just a sealed iPhone box. I hooked it up to my computer and activated through iTunes. So yes, you can activate it from home.

Mine is week 35.

I got it around noon. :D It's so amazing. I need some games for it though. I bought Scrabble and it's awesome.

Mine came in an unsealed box as well, as did clete's, I'd assume.

The box was likely opened to insert the sim.

I wouldn't blame apple for the shipping, as AT&T packaged it and FedEX helped it get to you. Apple's part was done long before you ordered the phone.

And yes, the sim is already in the phone.

I wish everyone would stop talking about the great things on the iPhone. As a Sprint user, I'm sooooo jealous. The ETF might be worth it though just so I can join the iClub...lol.

grats clete. was yours 2.1 and do you have the new charger?

that's weird that the phones are shipped unsealed -- if it was to insert the sim into the phone, why is it that apple's phones are sealed but have the sims in them already? why couldn't at&t do the same?

Answers:
Was not sealed. I assume this is because they insert the sim card.
Was not 2.1. I don't recall what it was.
Came with the new charger. :) it has a green dot.

Posted with my iPhone.

I think they're actually not sealed so that the chargers could be replaced with the new ones, from what I've researched.
