Agreed lol! I kept thinking this to myself when I saw peoples shipments on hold.

Particularly since, as of Friday at least if not earlier, they can be purchased in stores, including resellers. So the point/value of pre ordering is ...... ?

I know it's not Apple. Apple should use UPS worldwide, NOT TNT for AUS!

UPS is no guarantee. My iPad is delayed because "A late UPS trailer arrival has caused a delay. We're adjusting plans to deliver your package as quickly as possible. / Delivery will be rescheduled." Since they don't deliver Saturday, it means I wait until Monday.

Cellular models are still not available for pickup today. So preordering worked out for those of us who wanted cellular.

Good point. Apple probably realized since there were so few cellular models best to make people pre-order them.

One of the iPads was delivered yesterday on schedule, but the other one was mis-sorted and went to the wrong place :(. Instead of going from Chelmsford MA to Dover NH, it went to Washington PA. (I didn't even know there was a Washington in Pennsylvania!)

The one that arrived is mine, and the one that's delayed is my wife's... definitely not a good situation!

I think that cellular models are becoming more popular with all the supported LTE bands. In the past one would not want to use their limited data plan to load large amounts of data on an iPad.

Maybe Apple underestimated the increasing demand for cellular.

I don't use it very often, but I'm always totally happy that I have it and don't have to rely on spotty public WiFi, broken authentication pages or similar.

Ordered right when the store came back up, still waiting for mine in Canada.

Scheduled Delivery:
Monday, 10/27/2014, By End of Day

Last Location:
Departed - Concord, ON, Canada, Thursday, 10/23/2014

Shipped By:
UPS Standard

Extremely pissed off that Apple cheaped out and used ground shipping, especially given the fact I can walk into any local store and pick up an iPad Air 2 as of today.

Looks like my iPad is with yours! Does your tracking info still say it will be delivered today? I'm not sure why they haven't updated that yet... UPS DOES deliver on Saturday. I'm definitely going to call and yell until I get it today or tomorrow!

My Pending charge for the full amount just came off my card. Did you happen to notice if this happened to you before it shipped?

I didn't look. I applied for the Apple card and got the free fianancing so I don't have access to the web site yet.

BTW: Mine is out for delivery on FEDEX now. :D

I've always hed the cellular model. I am lucky enough to grandfathered in on unlimited plan and to date, I have never been throttled.

That is a little irritating.
I have to agree.

Picked up my 2 LTE Space Gray 128gb iPad Air 2's at the Fedex depot in Fort Worth! I'm a little concerned that the Fedex person didn't look at my ID: I suppose anyone could have walked in and said they were me. Come to think of it, I never told her my name or gave her my tracking numbers. I just said that I had a couple of packages to pick up. She had called me earlier to let me know that they were ready for pickup, but I'm not a frequent face there. Oh well, I got them and not someone else. :)

I didn't pre order and went to AT&T store to buy one today. They stated they would not have any inventory for at least two weeks.

Thought today was retail available day but apparently not.

Agreed. I've never had a Mac, iPad or iPhone shipped via ground but this was. Usually, UPS flies from Ontario to Moncton to Halifax. The deliveries also occur in the morning. Not this time.

I pre-ordered my Cellular iPad (128GB Space Grey) about an hour after the pre-orders went live.

Picked it up this morning at the FedEx distribution office at 8:45. Nice not having to wait around all day.

Restoring it now from backup. Seems to work well. A little lighter and the screen is a bit better. Worth it upgrading from the iPad Air? No sure yet. Need to use it more.

EDIT: BTW, the Apple iPad Air case DOES work with the iPad Air 2. The volume buttons on the side are a bit awkward however since they don't lineup with the case. The volume up button is exposed through the hole where the switch was and the volume down is where the volume up was on the iPad Air.

EDIT 2 : I just noticed the camera hole doesn't line up at all. I guess I will be getting the Air 2 case now.

I have 2 iPads scheduled for delivery on Monday (Saskatchewan, Canada). Disappointed that Apple used UPS Standard instead of UPS Express Saver like they usually do.

Mine arrived an hour ago. Shipped from Apple Canada not from the USA or China. Even more disappointing they held the iPad while other countries were shipping.

Ah, I was wondering about that, thanks for the info.

I have the same model as you (Cellular 128GB Space Grey), and it just got delivered around noon. I also ordered the Air2 case for pickup, and was wondering whether it was worth going to the store to pick it up, or should I just stick with my Air1 case. Your description of the volume button holes have convinced me to go get the Air2 case. :p
