yeah. I hope this doesn't happen to me. But if I bought from the apple store, I don't qualify for the cheap prices (199/299) Because my dad's business has an AT&T Rep, and he said he can get me the phone for the cheap price if I buy from AT&T, not apple. So, it looks as though Im screwed on that front.

I think there are three different sets of order confirmations for online orders:

1. The Apple Store
2. The regular AT&T Wireless Store
3. The Premier/FAN AT&T Store

And it looks like the Premier folks got the one with the more non-specific information as to when it will arrive.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Apple uses Fedex and AT&T use UPS.

Not that it matters because I'm starting to gently tell myself I will be lucky to get my iphone shipped from att by the 26th...

If I'm not mistaken, the 3G's were shipped via FedEx last year when many of us had to order through AT&T Direct Fulfillment.

I received an email from AT&T last night confirming my pre order and telling me that the wait is almost over. I placed my order around noon on Tuesday, June 9 and I'm transferring my existing phone number to AT&T.

Let me know if you've also received this email.

I have not received such an email yet; but I ordered via the Premier site and I believe you ordered from wireless.att.com.

I hope to receive such an email very soon

I received that this morning. Ordered on the 10th (but the order status screen says the 12th since that was the day it finally showed up on there).

I ordered my iphone on Tuesday via my ATT Small Business account. My rep told me I would get my phone "a few days" after the 19th. Interestingly, when I ordered my wife's phone via apple.com, the notification email said her phone will be delivered by the 19th...time will tell.

I went and pre-ordered mine at a AT&T store and I was told to be in the pre-order line by 7am!

I too received that email stating the wait is almost over (ordered at 9am CET on the 9th ---I believe they started pre-orders sometime around 1:40am that day)

It still just reminds me that its hit or miss on getting it the 19th-- boy I hope so im leaving the 20th for family visit/vacation and I heard from somewhere stating they don't deliver on weekends.. I hope I don't regret going through ATT.com ha

It will be interesting to watch and see who all have received the letter and when they ordered ;)

So glad I canceled my order from AT&T the other day. I knew this would happen.

Reading this thread makes me extremely happy that I order from apple.com rather than AT&T. I have Fridays off so I'll be sitting by the window all morning watching for that red, white and purple Santa Clause. :D

I got this this email this morning and I placed my order on the 9th around 7:45 AM.

I considered doing this and jumping on the apple.com train but I was worried that since it was around the 11th or so 13th for today and that they wouldn't be able to guarantee me anything because I didn't preorder soon enough. I still am not sure if people preordering all the way up to the 17th will have a 100% guarantee of getting it on the 19th.. who knows =D

I went and preordered at a B&M AT&T store today and was told that they were back ordered. I called an AT&T sales rep and they gave me the same info.

Would I still be in the same boat if I went and ordered from Apple.com?

I got the same email this morning, I also received a second email that states this:

"Dear XXXXX,
Thank you for choosing AT&T. Unfortunately, we need some additional information about your phone number transfer before we can complete your order. Please click on the following link to proceed with your number transfer: https://www.wireless.att.com/lnp/
We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to serving you. If we don't hear from you within 30 days, your order will be canceled.
AT&T"

I go to the site, put in my info and it says "in progress" I guess its because the port is pending until I activate the iPhone an that this is an automated message?

Just visited the Death Star. I tried to cancel my order from them, but was told they could not cancel it until the actual iPhone arrived in the store. So I guess they have an awesome tractor beam.

They told me that even people who preordered iPhones as far back as June 9th were being told 7-14 days.

And then a female stormtrooper told me something that made me mad. She said that when they received the shipment of iPhones, the fools that wait in line all night will get to purchase them first and then what's left over will go to the preorders.

I'm hoping she was an idiot and didn't know what she was saying. That's just not right at all. She didn't say anything about having 2 lines like the crooked headed AT&T guy said in that video.

I'm hoping the 7-14 days is just what they have to tell customers and not a definite.

Since there are about 6 AT&T stores in a 5 mile radius around my house, I just went and preordered there to guarantee I'll have it. Wasn't in the mood for all the online BS.

I too was going to do the same, but simply did it online to save the couple miles in gas and also I had the Premier login and handled the discounts myself. Probably should have ordered in store for a little more assurance, but my hope is that it will arrive on my porch Friday the 19th.

I'm thinking the female was incorrect. Why would you pre-order if you would have an iPhone 3GS reserved? That doesn't make any sense I agree. The purpose of the pre-ordering program was to not have to wait in a long line all night.

AT&T Sold Out of Pre-orders

One of the top stories on AppleInsider:

Signaling a likely repeat of Apple's iPhone sell-outs of the past two years, AT&T is already warning that those making iPhone 3G S pre-orders that they won't get their handsets on launch.

The US carrier's internal sales system is asking staff to tell customers that any pre-orders made on Saturday the 13th or later won't ship on launch and instead will reach retail locations between 7 and 14 days after the order is made, overshooting the release date.

Those who delayed their pre-orders long enough but who still want an iPhone 3G S the same day will have to wait at an AT&T (or Apple) store until regular availability starts at 8 a.m. rather than the 7 a.m. early access time touted earlier this week, Boy Genius hears. Any pre-orders, however, will receive an e-mail once their device is in stock.

While unfortunate for those who hadn't already set aside money for the faster, more feature-laden Apple smartphone, the sell-out bodes well for early sales, which will include not only retail pick-ups but, unlike last year, online pre-orders. Some had feared that high upgrade fees for customers who bought a previous iPhone too soon to qualify for a full discount would deter many from queuing up in the same way they had in 2008.

Besides Apple and AT&T outlets, Best Buy and Walmart locations should also have the iPhone 3G S for sale on June 19th, albeit with regular store hours.

So, I guess I at least know that my iPhone will be shipped on launch day. I really hope that I receive it on the 19th, otherwise, I'll be upset and whine like a baby. :D

I guess I shot myself in the foot. Should have ordered from Apple.

I don't understand why they can't cancel the order. And since I have an order pending with AT&T, I can't order or purchase from any other stores selling them.

It just blows my mind that some shmuck can sit outside a store all night and get one, when I've took the time to preordered one. That's not right at all.

I've never had a problem with AT&T until this.

OKAY, I'm reposting what I posted in ANOTHER thread...

"Just adding information onto this thread:

My credit card company declined the order from AT&T because I had an order with Apple I guess and then quickly ordered again so their fraud department declined it which is the reason I woke up so early this morning.

Anyway, I received an email late last night saying..

So I thought, great! I placed and order with Apple and called AT&T and they CAN CANCEL YOUR ORDER. Just to make sure I had them check to see if they'd retry to bill my credit card again but the lady said "I can just cancel your order.." No hassle what so ever... This is the number they gave me for the center i called...

1-888-290-4613 - I was a new customer the guy helping on the phone pressed 4 I think, 3 is for cancelation also but you might get better luck by hitting 4.

I just received my confirmation for my cancelation from AT&T too. Good luck to everyone!"

It IS possible to cancel an order, do NOT let them spoon feed you a lie. If they still refuse, tell them you'll have your credit card company reverse the charge.

I just received that email. I also went to the site and put my number in. It still says "In Progress" just like it always has. I don't know if I should give AT&T a call or not.

Edit: I just got off the phone with AT&T and they said that we received this email because we are porting over an existing phone number from another carrier. All this email means is that once we receive our iPhone, we have to finish the transfer process by calling them on the phone.

DId anybody who ordered via Premier have any updated info or emails? I ordered the minute it showed up on the Premier website, for me at least, June 9th around 3 pm. THis is crap.
