Was the same, got one today for delivery tomorrow, no returns once I open it unless faulty lol

Decided to go all out my last 2 watches a S5 and a S7 I got used for good prices, so about time I splashed out.

There is a nothing thread with the discount code. If you have a BB credit card yiu can use it. 10% off.

It’s exceptionally niche. I think this is going to fall by the wayside same like this series 1 & 2 gold 18K editions that Beyoncé and Jay-Z had
I don’t think it will fall by the wayside as such, but this is certainly apple looking at making them bigger and testing the market by making it “specialised”. I can see a few more variations in the new models based on user uptake.

I have my ultra in order. Coming October. Tried it on in the store and actually like that it was thicker on my wrist than my series 4.

The one thing that pulled me towards it was the price and that it included cellular connectivity. Battery was a plus.

Let us know if you get it and how you feel!

It won’t fail like past special editions because it’s truly differnt then the base Watch and not a huge up charge.

Not everyone will like the design but I think a high percentage will buy it and stick with it. The finish durability will need the rest of time and there are some mixed reviews on that.

If apple has its one offline map available I bet 50% would buy it.

Speaking of the screen, it's not really any bigger than the Series 7/8: it's basically the same size because of a thicker bezel that's also slightly more rounded, making the Series 7/8 look more square, interestingly enough!
I realised that after seeing a side-by-side comparison screen shot. If anything the AWU displays slightly less width at the top and bottom of the display.

Stop it

I keep adding it to my cart and then deciding I don't want it... over and over again.

Found it in stock today. Came close to committing. Then, cold feet.

Pretty sure I want it because I'm bored.

It sure looks cool and different.

Tomorrow I will commit.

Maybe.

Design-wise, I like it. Size-wise, it's on the edge. Functionality-wise, none of the new features matter to me. So it's pretty much the wild swing between the pleasure side of the brain wanting to pick up some new tech jewelry and the the logical side which reminds me that this watch has nothing for me, and if anything might be a step down with a softer titanium frame (I always get stainless steel).

Then again, I've owned AW0 to AW8, so kind of feels inevitable that I should buy an Ultra.

So the struggle is Ultra's just not quite differentiated, but looks differentiated I guess.

The fact that you keep removing it from your basket shows that you're not really wanting it yourself and only want to buy it because many on the forum here have bought it also - FOMO.

Don't succumb to the hype on here.

This 👇🏽, is the best advice I have seen.
I suggest wait a month. When I get caught up in the frenzy for something new, I find I am more centered a month later. Helps avoid getting buyer’s remorse, which is not a good feeling.

I will do just that as well.

You're chickening out?

I'm reminded of that famous quote from Alan Kay that Steve Jobs always used to use in his keynotes. People who are really serious about software should grow some friggin balls.

Or wait, no, that's not it... something something hardware? Nah, I like my version better. BUY IT, OP. CONSUUUUUUUME!

It’s obviously not the watch for you. Don’t be a sheep and spend money to spend money.

Replying to my dumb joke to offer my actual opinion. I am a marathoner. I am a SLOW marathoner. Which means my Apple SE would usually die on me before I got to the finish line, especially if I wanted to play music on it during the race. Yes, there are other watches for marathoners, but the ability to text my family where I am on the race course and have access to all other Watch features like that without having to carry my heavy Pro Max phone during the race is worth it.

That is my use case. But your given use case is being bored. This is not a good use case, my friend. The only exception I can think of if you are not an athlete would be if you just really want the better battery.

But if you're not gonna do anything that would actually kill a normal Apple Watch in less than a day...

Do you have $800 of debt to pay off?

Do you have an emergency fund if you lose your job?

$800 is sadly not as much gas for your car as it used to be, but it's still a lot of gas.

Marcus by Goldman Sachs (same company that manages Apple Card) has a high yield savings account that is now at 2.15% APY, and it will likely continue going up the rest of the year. Toss the $800 in and get free money, and peace of mind.

Or you know.... CONSUUUUUUUME. lol. Good luck with your decision, friend.

I waited awhile myself. It was only the size that held me back. We always get the stainless steel larger versions and this is only $50 more, which surprised me based on previous speculation. But I’ve worn larger, heavier watches in the past and decided I will adjust to the size eventually and really enjoy the additional features in the meanwhile.

Stop what? 1164 vs 1143 sq mm is a barely perceptible difference, and it's true that the ultra is more rounded, leaving less horizontal space for text at the very top and very bottom of the screen.

I think it's better for people to go in expecting a not much bigger screen than the S7/S8, rather than expecting a gigantic screen and being disappointed.

I tell ya what. I was too. I have always gone with the basic aluminum models, but I wanted ss or titanium with sapphire. For the price of those it was the same watch as the aluminum. I couldn’t justify it, though I would have rather had it. Now that the battery life is improved by a lot, along with call quality, a nice little bump is screen size, brightness, and the fact the corners of the watch are titanium, not glass, with dual band GPS, and the fact it reminds me of a polished G-shock watch, it has finally made sense for me to get it. The way I look at it, if I am already spending several hundred, and I can get a much better watch all around for double now, it is almost a no brainer. I do believe it’s not the best choice for everyone, and one could get by just fine on a base model.

I see no reason why I won’t keep this watch for several years, so in the long run, I am probably saving money 💰 You have to do what makes sense to you.
