I have always loved MacBook Pros but this one is simply amazing. Instant start up when opening lid, brilliant fingerprint, even the Touch Bar I love! Just saying I LOVE it!! I have a 2019 Mac Pro and the XDR nano screen as well plus lots of other goodies but the MacBook Pro 16 is up there with my most treasured item ever. Just stunning in design, feel, quality, screen, speed, sound... So much hate out there it seems! Love it :) Just saying...Thanks Apple

Agreed I’m very happy with mine

I’m mostly just annoyed with minor Catalina bugs but I’m sure those will be ironed out in time, sooner than later hopefully. There’s the external monitor power draw thing. System audio sample rate changing on me unexpectedly. Tru tone freaking out when I wake the screen. Hopefully all just software bugs to be fixed...

I think a lot of the things people are complaining about are not as big of a deal as they’re made out to be. I can find a flaw in anything and convince myself to return it. But I kept the 16”. Yeah there are a couple issues but nothing Apple shouldn’t be able to fix.

couldnt agree more. Love mine too its a great computer and I have been impressed by the dgpu for the first time, and it meeds my mobile needs.
I am more happy with the bootcamp performance also and the fans have been great for me there, which I was concerned about [not gaming but revit].

I am really enjoying mine as well. I had a couple that had some issues. I finally have one that I like. The only little quibbles have been that occasional pop sound (but this is not unique to the 16, as my friends 2019 15inch has it as well), and some ghosting (but that doesn't really bother me too much).

I still love my 2017 MBP Every time I open it up. One thing that I really like about Apple laptops is the enjoyment of ownership even after having it for years. Not saying you don’t get this with other great laptops (like the X1 Carbon - cuz you do) but I’m used to having cheap laptops most of my life.

Loving mine too, switched it out earlier in Jan for lower spec one but can't tell the difference and love using it every day. Amazing machine.

I wouldn't call it love, but I am really satisfied with my MBP16.
Very solid machine. Having some minor issues - mostly related to Catalina but nothing blocking me from effective use.

2 MacBook Pros were my main workhorses for ten years. They handled everything I threw at them. So far after 2 months, the current 16" has no unusual issues whatsoever for video, photo editing and graphic design. The true test of these MacBook Pros is their longevity and durability. My MBPs outlasted and remained usable by 3-4 years longer than my coworkers‘ Dell XPS’s under the same heavy travel use conditions. My old MBPs were sold while their old Dells were junked.

FIVE stars for a positive Mac Rumors Thread!!! 😀 Hoping this can be a new theme in MacRumors! And all thanks to Phillip with the extra ells!!! Thank you so much, Phillip! One person, making a huge difference.

Since we're reminiscing, I kept using my beloved 2010 17" Macbook Pro until 2018, when I accidentally spilled wine all over it and destroyed it. During the day I'd use my newer 15" MBP, but every night when I opened up that huge 17" screen, the difference just took my breath away. And the 2010 was only a little sluggish compared to my new Macbook Pros, and was my first Mac to get a 2TB SSD. That thing was a tank - had I not wrecked it, it might have gone into my museum of best tech gadgets of all time. At which point I'd probably install Snow Leopard on it. :)

As much as I love Macbooks and even though I like the fact that there's a positive thread on this forum for once, I gotta say that your old 17" wasn't exactly a tank if little bit of wine destroys it. Oh how much do I wish Apple would start putting spill-resistant keyboards into these machines. Although I'm not sure if that would do any good due to the speakers being wide open right next to it.

And I do love my MBP 16 as well! Blazing fast and gorgeous. As I'm coming from 2013 13" MBA, this thing feels like something from distant future!

Thanks for the kind words guys! :) Yeah I also had the 17 incher for a long time and that was also fab. Funny how somethings I just LOVE and somethings I just am very happy to have like the iPhone 11 Pro, its amazing, beautiful and just works yet I don't love it! But wouldn't be without it. Or the iMac 27 5K which again did the job and looked great but I didn't love it! BUT the MacBook Pro 16 ( and previous ones ) I just love them. Actually the only 2 other gadgets that I can say that I also love are the Nintendo Switch and the Sony RX1R. Both stunning devices which just have something about them that makes them personal to oneself like the MacBook Pro. Weird I know. LOL

Speaking of spills, I spilled cola on a 2009 MBP 15". The keyboard and trackpad became a sticky mess. Luckily, other components were spared. But typing was impossible as the keys had no travel. So I took the computer apart and cleaned under the trackpad. I removed and washed the keyboard in a dishwasher. Fingers crossed, I put it back and it still worked. I kept it for another 5 years before selling it in 2014. Every laptop since got a quality keyboard cover.

I get it! I miss my 17" MBP. As a graphic designer it was the only size that I could use for extended periods of time without itching for an external monitor. It just felt so "luxurious" to have the big screen and that wide flat platform around the keyboard, yet you could still drop it into a bag and take it with you. I so wish Apple would produce a new 18" screen in the 17" form factor!

I agree 100%. I traded in my 2018 base model 15″ MBP for the 1 TB stock 16″ and it is just an excellent laptop in every way. Apple really outdid themselves with this thing.

• Its trackpad and speakers are the best in the industry and it’s not even a debate.
• The screen is excellent. The added real estate and shrunk bezels are a welcome improvement.
• The unibody aluminum chassis makes it rigid as a tank.
• The keyboard, my goodness! The keyboard was not only fixed from the awful low-travel defective Butterfly design, it was turned into something that is an absolute joy to type on.
• I wasn’t expecting a physical escape key but they even gave us the physical escape key!
• The Touch Bar gets a lot of hate, and I was skeptical of it at first too, but I’ve learned to make good use of it and wouldn’t want a machine without one now. It’s particularly useful for writing Chinese. When typing Chinese, the input method is usually phonetic and you are presented with a numbered selection of suggested characters that all sound like what you typed, and you have to keep looking at the screen and pressing the numbers that correspond to the characters you want. But with the Touch Bar, the suggested characters appear on the Touch Bar and you just tap the characters you want to type as they come up, and it has predictive text which can often anticipate the next character without you having to type anything at all. Super handy in my use case.
• The four USB-C/Thunderbolt-3 ports get hate too, but I love the flexibility they offer plus the ability to charge the device from both sides.
• I already mentioned the speakers, but I’m going to mention them again because holy moly they are fantastic. The sound is crisp and full and just amazing.

Which are things you already had, and were already best of class, on your 2018 model.

(just being fair here - none of that is new to the 2019 16” being raved about)

I get it! I miss my 17" MBP.

Oh man - you and me both..

The 17” line was my favorite of all time - no question.

Glad you love yours, OP.

I absolutely love my 16" too and have had zero quality control or fit and finish issues with it - truly perfect from the factory. Worth every penny of the $3k it cost. I loved my 2015 15" that it replaced, but once I had both side by side, the 2015 felt instantly dated, bigtime. Got good money for it on Swappa and haven't looked back.

I'm a light user, but I have always loved the non-tapered design of the MBP, and especially the 15/16" models because I love those wide speaker grilles flanking the keyboard. Just such a hunk of sexy metal slab, these machines.

I hope to keep this one for 6-8 years, if for no other reason than playing Apple's QC lottery is exhausting, so when I win, I keep it to the death. The 2015 was the only exception, in that I bought it to replace my 2010 just as a stopgap until Apple fixed the keyboards. Just got tired of not having a retina screen on the 2010.

I never claimed otherwise. Those things were all great on the previous machine I had, and they’re also reasons I love this one. It’s miles ahead of the Windows competition in my eyes for these reasons. And it finally feels like a complete premium package when all these things are combined with a quality keyboard.

I want to upgrade my 15” model, but I really want Face ID. Mine spends a lot of time docked and reaching over to the finger print censor is a pain. Looks lovely though.

LOVE my 16" MBPro. I originally got a lemon, which Apple replaced with a similar model they had in the store. I gave up 64GB of RAM + 1TB SSD for 32GB RAM + 2TB SSD. But they did this with little-to-no fuss (they had to run a few tests first, which I had already run—that was highly annoying at the moment).

I liked the butterfly keyboard in my 2018 MBPro (and my wife really likes it), but I like the new keyboard even more. The screen size increase is a nice addition. The speakers are fantastic for a laptop.

The only complaint I have about it (and I had the same issue with the previous 15" MBPro models) is that the fans come on too often for my taste. I fixed the issue by buying/installing TurboBoost Switcher to completely shut off the TurboBoost feature of the OS - which I don't need and never noticed a difference when it was running anyway - other than the noisy fans.
