Well, got my MacBook Pro five days ago, and the USB ports being so close together are a HUGE disappointment because I can basically only use one at a time... other than that, perfect!

Oh, and, if only they'd find some way to not make the keyboard get oily! (I know, I'm OCD :p)

USB spacing is definitely a shortcoming.

They invented this thing called Soap years ago and it works marvelously, Give it a try!:D

I bought a top of the line fully loaded BTO 15", it's ideal.

I have to contain myself not to get the latest and greatest, but every two years I buy the high end refurb 13" and get them for a reasonable amount compared to new, and sell them for close to what I paid.

I think the value of the 13" is far better than the 15 or 17" units but Apple's refurb program is hands down a great way to own a Mac.

+1 for Mac no issues, and I am in IT and work with Windows all day, but when I go home, I want my computer to just work, this is why I own Mac's

Misunderstanding. No matter how much you wash your hands, the matte finish will still wear and look bad within a year or probably less. It's the finish itself wearing, not dirt. I had a whole thread on this two or three days ago.

Satisfied Apple Macintosh Owner

My 2011 15" MacBook Pro Hi-Res Glossy 2.2GHz Quad-Core Intel i7 16GB RAM 480GB OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G has had zero issues with the exception of a single dead pixel or dust in the bottom left corner. Not really a problem. FWIW, I also had no issues upgrading to OSX Lion [The exception was WiFi problems on my 2010 27" iMac 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel i7 32GB RAM 240GB OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 1TB WD Caviar Black, which ended up being a problem with VMware Fusion 3.]

I'm not sure that thread had any conclusive result. Also, the greasy shiny effect is still much different from a shininess that builds up over time.

No misunderstanding (that is why the huge smiley face :D ) I knew what you meant. The easiest way is get a cover or don't use it! I prefer my BT keyboard and magic mouse anyway!

i've owned a good number of macs, and the macbook pro (late 2011, 13") is now my favorite (after 2 weeks).

lion, the SSD, 8gigs ram...everything is working great. the drive is a joy:
fast, quiet, and very little heat.

thumbs up!

My 2011 i5 Macbook Air and my favorite, 2011 17" Macbook Pro upgraded with data doubler and SSD on both sides. Both new units are both working great. Perhaps I'm just lucky I never really had any major problems with any of my Macs since acquiring my very first one which was a Powerbook 170.

my early 2011 base MBP is the latest addition to the macs in our home. i use it in conjunction with my 2010 mac mini. i love the mbp but what's even sweeter is that i got it for $800 as a newly returned open box item at BB. It was low priced because i got a coupon in the mail from BB knocking another $100 off open box items. rushed up there and they had a bunch of airs but only three MBPs. The one i got had just been returned after being out six days of the 14 day return policy. it hadn't even been registered by the original buyer who must have been trying it out. it has lion and i have office 2011 on it. my mac mini has SL with office 2004. word.doc on each are swappable, and word is what i use. so its a great combination. the MBP downstairs and my mini in the office attached to a 23 inch hp monitor with a matte screen, and the bluetooth apple magic track pad and the bluetooth keyboard. wife has a 21 inch iMac. we both have iPad 2s. and there are a few other powerpc macs around the house. gotta get rid of some.

Another one of the (formerly I guess) silent majority. I love my late 2011 17" For what I need it to do, it's perfect. :)

15 w/ 2.3GHz/8GB/1GB/HiRes/SSD and no real complaints. Like all things, I have pet peeves, such as:

-Apple using a SATA2 hard drive
-crappy power cord
-lack of USB3
-Only 2 USB ports
-FireWire still present but not eSata or more USB ports
-lack of user customization w/ hardware

But these are all minor issues and overall, it is just like my old 13; un fantastica!

Please explain this one...

"-crappy power cord"

I have owned more laptops than I care to admit. I find Apples design to be the best in the industry.

First time MacBook Pro owner, bought it last Saturday at Best Buy. Went with the high end model they offered in the 15" size. Everything so far is great and I couldn't be happier. No 15" Windows notebook could offer the same in performance, reliability, battery life, and portability compared to the MacBook Pro. Lion OS and the trackpad are better then I thought they would be. Overall, I guess you could say I'm in love, so much in love I have a 8gb ram kit and Crucial M4 256gb SSD on they way! :D

I'm on my second MBP (the first was a mid2009 15"), I have an 11" MBA and I had two MacBook before: I'm absolutely satisfied and happy with my choice.

my first mac, have had it for 4 months and no problems. i keep looking for things that i would have problems with but can't find any.
also the power cord is the best I've used. its not bulky, and the magsafe if a awesome idea. i don't know how many times my son has been walking around this and pulls the cord and it just pops off and comp stays where its at. my old gateway has been pulled of the desk countless times because it had an angled plugin.(still worked every time and never broke, but still shouldn't have fallen)

I love my mac book pro 13" on lion. I've had mine for almost 2 weeks & not a single system crash. All my programs work great. iCloud syncs up my phone, iPad & mac like a dream. Thank you Steve for making the best 3 devices I've ever owned.

did u notice some performance issues after installing Lion on MacBook Pro 13" (early 2011) ?

I've only ran mine on Lion as it's a late 2011 model. I think any issues I did read about where more much todo about nothing then anything from upgrading from Snow leopard.

Apple power cords have historically sucked.

The first five reviews are titled...

"terrible"

"Sigh"

"Failed in one month"

"Frayed"

"Failed after 13 months of use"

All are 1 star. The average of 511 reviews is 2 stars. Of those 511 reviews, over HALF have reported outright failures. It is the weakest part of an otherwise solid design.
