no you are not alone

I love mine too. I wasn't ready to take the plunge any earlier than now, but I am so glad I did.

Mine has no issues (yay!). Runs quietly and efficiently.

After almost 2 years of trying to find the right Mac for myself, and a lot of back and forth etc. I've got it now. It took a lot of research, stress and $ but ultimately I am glad I decided to risk trying a 15" MBP again.

I love how study and solid the machine is too. :apple:

It is so nice to see threads like this, so I hope to contribute positive comments too :)

I absolutely love my 15'' 2.0GHz i7 MacBook Pro :) I've never had any issue with it, and it is runs just as well as the day I first got it.

I purchased my first MBP in July of '06, if I recall correctly. I have had a couple of them since then. All very nice laptops and all performed without issue. I have really enjoyed owning each and every one of them.

Wow, thats pretty bad. I had one that frayed and took it to the Apple store. They had me in and out with a new one in less than two minutes. That really stinks for those that have them die completely.

I have not purchased a PC in a long time because of service issues. If I were to have a problem, Apple has me back up and running in less than 72 hours. It took Sony 4 weeks to fix my Z. After that, never again.

I agree Apple is great in taking care of issues. The powercord is functionally pleasing thanks to its magnets and low profile. For those who use a laptop as a lap top, it is very pleasing. However, one must cherish the power cord and baby it as they just aren't all that durable.

Without a doubt tho, I still recommend the 2011 MBP as one of the, possibly the, best laptop on the market. While the power cord sucks, it is simple to replace and relatively cheap to have a second one on hand. It also is not an internal part of the computer that if it goes up then you are SOL. If any electronic device is going to have a weakness, then the power cord is the 'best' weakness to have given how uninvolved it is with the rest of the system's functionality and reliability.

I purchased my 13in Macbook Pro around August of 2011 and haven't had a single problem with it...until today.

The fan under my keyboard seems to be scraping against something when it spins and causes a annoying rattling/ticking/clicking noise that is very noticeable when you are in a quiet environment.

I've tried every possible solution that I've come across on Google (except self-installing a new fan, I still have warranty coverage) and nothing seems to work. I'm taking it in to the Apple store tomorrow and having them fix it.

Besides the fan making me want to blow my brains out, I absolutely love my Macbook Pro.

Couldn't agree more!

My wife got me my MBP for Christmas this year and I have to say it's the best machine I have ever used!! I have had several machines and by the time I owned them as long as I have owned my MCB (2 months) the Windows machines would start to lag and crap out on me. I have never had any issues with my MBP. I have compared my machine to some of my friends and coworkers windows machines and have convinced them to cross over to Apple. :D

I love this computer too. I got a dead pixel on my screen by Apple happily replaced the display for free. Had some troubles with a corrupt file which resulted in a reinstallation. All in all, I have had only 2 problems in the last year. With windows, I had a lot more.
I'm happy with my purchase and will def. buy Mac from now on.
My only pet peeve: I just wish the USB ports were slightly more spaced apart as I can use both of them at once – but no biggie.

Sadly, I have to disagree with your quality assessment...

My 2006 MBP had a broken latch. It had several other hardware issues that required taking it to my local repair center. (Other than that, though, it has stood up to being hauled all over the Rockies without a hitch. Which is kind of amazing, considering where I've taken it.)

My Intel Core Duo iMac's optical drive failed - twice, once out of warranty. Now, it won't mount external drives.

My early 2011 13.3in. MBP had problems with the fan - it ran up to 6100RPM and stayed there when the temps were normal.

I sent it to Apple, they replaced the logic board and the heat sink.

Now, the fan runs to 4100 immediately on start up and stays there; even though the temps are normal.

Before I retired, I ran Mac networks. I must have bought close to 500 Macs of various types. NONE of them ever went back to Apple. I had only one dead on arrival and that was a just a hard drive cable.

They need to increase their quality control...

(Personally, I think it is because they off-shored all manufacturing.)
