I find it amusing to see people fight over an LCD, an LCD. Ok, so we know the screen is faulty, it is, I have an Al MacBook with 9C89. People how are enjoying your new MacBooks and people how don't like the screen, here is a hard core fact, the screen is of low quality for what we paid.

Now, on with the next point.

I just played Iron Man in dark scenes and tilted the angles. It was horrible; however, the angles that showed the awfulness of the screen, were angles I will not ever see a movie. Blacks were not blacks rather blues and grays. However, like I said, the angles are too steep or too sided for me to enjoy a movie. I see a movie straight one and like that my screen works.

Next point,

People who returned their MacBooks due to the screen. We understand your expectations were high and you expected something better for your money. I am not blaming you for that, you have that right to brag as you paid for it (so did I). However, bashing others just because they find it nice is a big no-no. Remember they also used hard earned money (specially in this frail economy) to buy their dream Mac, and all people want to do is express that joy. Least people can do is congratulate and give advice on what to do if people are new, we don't want people to bash our choices.

You have to remember some people come from PC computers where Vista and the combined crappy hardware make one hellish relationship which makes screens even crappier. That is my experience, I came from HP (dv1660se from Aug 2006, that was a good screen but horrible under the sun or colors where way to hot). Others experience may be different. Regarding the blacks, I find the MacBooks black better than my previous computer's blacks. Some people also experience this which is why we find it an awesome computer. I mean, I am not happy to know a previous MacBook has better screen, but hey, this screen is way better than my previous one (2006 screen).

Closing remarks...

I see no reason to fight between each other. I mean some are happy, while some are not. Everyone has a right to brag about what they purchase (brag for good or bad). For those who like to post in others peoples thread, please don't. We understand your frustration, but its no reason to ruin the amazement or awing of others just because you had a bad experience. One thread is enough to explain to people about the problems plaguing the MacBook, there is no reason to spread them into every post. I mean ask for a sticky for defects on the Mac and stick to that, let others be happy.

I may get bashed for this post, but I don't care. I just want to make people understand lets keep ourselves civil and respect our own choices. My $0.02

I agree completely. I certainly don't fault those who've returned their MBs because they weren't satisfied with the screen. But I resent the implication that those of us who've kept our laptop are either not discerning enough to recognize its deficiencies or too willing to let Apple get away with this.

I bought my MB knowing about the screen controversy. The Air was missing too much for me and the Pro was heavier than I wanted. I've since decided that the MB excellent for my needs.

That's "good"?! i guess we just have different standard!

That is even worse than I expected.

The screen may not be the best one, but at least it is a REAL computer with 4GB+ of RAM that doesn't core shut down. I want a computer, not a DVD player for movies with dark scenes.

I also love my new Macbook

I have been using my 2.4ghz Macbook since I purchased it on 10/16 (the first batch available at my local Apple Store). I have been using it for two weeks now and I find the screen quality to be supurb for a laptop. I'll admit that the vertical viewing angle is crap, but who looks at anything from that extreme an angle anyway? The calibration out of the box is sub-par, but that is very easy to remedy. I have tried all the posted calibrations here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/588431/
and have found that the "JC Display" and the "Spyder2" calibrations are the closest to what I consider normal (very subjective). The JC Dsipaly is a little warmer than the Spyder2 but they are essentially the same and with NO bluish tint.

I'm sorry, but I can't understand what all this nit-picking is all about. My blacks are not washed out, my colors are vibrant using one of those profiles.
I sold my 2.16ghz MBPro to buy this Macbook and I don't regret it in the least. I wanted the smaller screen size for portability and I don't miss the lost firewire port.

Considering how many Macbooks Apple has probably sold since the launch, I would hazzard a guess that the people complaining about the scren quality are in the minority. Don't get me wrong - they have every right to complain and as a remedy, they can return their Macbooks and purchase a MBP, but that doesn't give them the right to tell the people who love their new Macbooks that they are idiots and full of it.

Here, here!!

hmm well I just bought a 2.0 MB today. Have not opened it yet but was pretty impressed with the display model at the best buy. Did not notice anything with the screen although it is not as color rich as the 1330 but Im not a gamer or photoshop artist/3d designer. I checked some sites and the blacks looked good IMO. Hopefully everything will be good when I opened it up here in a min.

There was a open box item for a 2.4 MB that I was going to get until they told me it was a return for a screen issue (big surprise).... here's hoping everything is good with mine.

I'd have check out the OB 2.4 macbook right there in the store. Chances are, it was bad for the person who returned it, but fine to others. Then you could have saved some $.

I was going to buy it but they had told me that it was going to be sen in to Apple for servicing for a panel replacement and motherbard replacement. Not sure If I wanted to risk buying a cursed computer.

BTW, so far the new MC is very nice although the F4 - F7 keys are slanted but the rest of the keys are fine. The screen seems to be very nice and it is a solid built machine. Im personally a fan of glossy so it does not bother me, I am curious to do some more comparissons on the color though. Im typing this from the 1330 though, still setting up the MB.
