Time to start getting real with ourselves

1. I do not have the case on most of the time. I only wear the case when I go out and am wearing pants.

When I'm home the case comes immediately off because I much prefer the device naked.

I love how these bending issues are treated as "it just happened."

OP stated in an earlier post that he takes his phone out of the case everyday when he gets home: PROBLEM SOLVED.

I truly feel OP is putting enough force on the phone to cause this. Every single time he takes out of the case, he's putting pressure on the phone to slowly give. This wasn't a one day event and it all of a sudden was bent. Assuming OP had it launch day, this was just a matter of time before it finally got to a point where it was noticeable.

CASE CLOSED. I wish OP luck to getting it replaced.

Personally, I'm 'meh' to this whole bendgate crap. I have AppleCare... and I keep my phone in my pocket obviously but I'm not sitting on it or doing squats. The phone is just too overly sized to sit on it, comfortably.

Care to explain why YouTube case reviewers like Metagamers install and take off their phones from cases all the time and are still bendless?

Nobody is asking for an indestructible iPhone. What people would like is a device that stands up to reasonable use in ordinary life situations. I should not have to worry about damage if I put my phone in my front pockets.

No phone I've ever owned, from flip phones to iPhone 5, has had any problems being carried in a front pocket. A design that creates new problems for people is not a good design. Devices exist to make our lives easier, not harder. Whether the 6/6+ design holds up in the long run has yet to be determined.

You've never had a phone this thin and light with a large display before.

Apple makes a 5S and a 5C for those who need something more durable and aren't willing to sacrifice rough-and-tumble treatment for style and size. If I want to go off-road in the mud, I use an SUV, not a roadster.

Because they: only just got the phones/have looser fitting cases/have already bent them a little and not noticed yet/take them off differently/weren't paid enough by samsung. Or perhaps it is not cases that are the problem or maybe it is just magic.

I personally think it is probably something to do with the reptilian shapeshifters as to why these phone bends are occurring to start with.

In before "your fault".

Damn.
but it is his fault. Apple stated only 9 phones were reported and therefore it couldn't ever happen to another phone again so we must all blame the user and call them liars because they're obviously Samsung trolls just trying to hurt our feelings.

Seriously though. As I'm getting more accustomed to my 6+ then I've been paying less attention to my actions with it and am often sitting on it. No bends so far but I am curious how a year of "neglect" will result in a phone taco. Applecare+ is going to come in handy for me.

Funny when you have no argument you usually start writing BS....

Saab and oneofnine, maybe PM would be a better avenue for the constant bickering. Just the same thing over and over again.......let it go. Obviously some are bending under NORMAL circumstances, some are bending because people wanted youtube hits. Who cares. Let Apple deal with it.

You say "phones," but I'm gonna ASSUME you're speaking specifically to the 6+

Not all cases are the same. That's a given. When I use to put cases on my iPhone, depending what I was using, it was a real b!tch to get them on and off. Now, with the 6's rounded body, I could imagine some cases take some real effort.

What happens to one, will not necessarily happen to all. It's quite possible there are bad batches, and if you're are daily taking a case off and on with an already defective iPhone, you're in a world of trouble.

I don't see any complaining. The guys got new phones we all celebrated that. I've been especially happy, I have bought and sold three iP6 phones N.I.B for profits beyond my expectations.

I'm taking advantage of my iPhone experiences over the years, I'm not about to use a 6, too many bugs and annoyances.

Instead I will pre-order a iP6S next year, the 2nd gen iPhones are always the best. Always. It's relaxing to just read about the problems and not actually experience them.

Oh the morality of some people in this world. You would sell a product to someone else that you know has issues just so you can make a profit. Pray or keep your fingers crossed that somebody doesn't try to gyp you in the future.

The iPhone is supposed to be a device for the general consumer. It's more of a family sedan or compact crossover than a sports car.

The market for roadsters is relatively small, as they are a niche product.

I agree, it is getting silly and like a private bickering fest. My apologies and I will stop responding to his posts on peoples bend threads.

Not everyone carries out all their conversations in life just through internet forums.

Macrumors standard if it isn't said here it was never said ...

The other standard is... If it hasn't happened to me it can't happen to you.

THis place makes me LOL

If it is happening to only some devices from a particular mfg run maybe metagamers don't have those phones.

Maybe the devices they use on camera aren't their personal devices.

There are lots of possibilities.

Sorry to the OP.

I'm watching my phone daily as well... Have it in an Incipio DualPro case. Hope taking it out of the case isn't gonna cause an issue. I try removing a bottom corner, then the top adjacent corner... which is at the volume buttons. :(

Let us know what happens!

On another note,
Some people in these threads amaze me...

They cry "SAMSUNG!" when posters who have accounts < 2 months old post bent phone posts and don't want to believe them. They proceed to argue that the phones are fine. They make statements like "lol you don't see posters who have been here for more than 2 months posting about this lol they are fine #stopbeingdumb #lrn2babyurphone." Now, an older poster shows up with a bent phone, they continue to argue.

#dumbfounded

We argue because of the stupid videos where they are purposely trying to bend it and, surprise, they can, so therefore they must be a defect.

But, if you take just the legitimate "handled with care, yet still bent" cases, its minuscule compared to the 10 million phones sold, a good portion of them Pluses. We also argue that the Plus, being such a huge phone, can't be treated the same as all previous, smaller phones can, and that people seem shocked at this.

I disagree. A phone can only get so thin before it becomes difficult to hold and pick up. I use a TPU case on my iPhone 5 because it was too thin and not easy for me to hold.

A device should be easy for the owner to use. If thinness does not serve this end, what is the point? Thinness for the sake of thinness makes no sense.

If they make it thin enough, I could shave my face with it, especially if the display acts like an intelligent mirror. I would buy the heck out of that ;)

Who can forget the iPhone 4 and antennagate? Apple's R&D let that one get by them.

Actually, there were reports that Apple Engineering and one of Apple's carrier partners knew about the problem BEFORE the iPhone 4 was released: http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/apple-antenna-issue/story?id=11178959 But Apple released it anyway. Of course, Apple did what it should do in that case: minimize the potential damage through spin... which may or may not be happening with this issue too.

I see it like this:
-if it's a smaller problem that is overblown, it like all ______gate topics will burn itself out soon. Think of the hottest topics of the day 3 months ago, 6 months ago, etc (can you even remember them?) and then look around for how much attention they are getting now.
-if it's a bigger problem, it may yield increasing pain for Apple such that maybe Apple will learn the lesson that "thinner" should not be automatic when structural integrity starts impacting sales.

If the former, it will just wear itself out soon. If the latter, the next iPhone(s) will not automatically be made thinner, which, I suspect will benefit all of us consumers. IMO, the press for "thinner" continues to be a solution in search of a problem. I've rarely seen anyone griping about any generation of iPhones being "too thick". Was the 4 too thick? Was the 5? 5s? This 6 or 6+? If we had as many threads griping about "too thick" as we have griping about bending or any other Apple topic, it would be at least a niche group of Apple product buyers appearing to actually want thinner. I just don't see that at all... and haven't for many generations of iPhones. And yet, that "solution" keeps coming for a "problem" that nearly none seem to have. And now, MAYBE, it's giving Apple a little pace-of-sales pain for continuing to address that non-problem... which could be a good thing for us consumers when Apple rolls out future iPhones.

The market for roadsters is relatively small, as they are a niche product.

There are more models of smartphones available than automobiles, and the iPhone 6 is the most expensive of them all. Half of all cellphones are free. An iPhone 6 costs $200 and with a 2-year financial commitment. Analogous to Bentley, not Kia.

The iPhone for the elitist is the iPhone 6 which requires a little extra care. The iPhone for the "general consumer" is the iPhone 5C which is quite sturdy. Go get one.

The difference is that Apple sells tens of millions of iPhones per quarter. In 2013 Apple had around 34% share of the U.S. Mobile phone market. Bentley is at best a niche player in the U.S. Auto market. iPhone is mainstream.

It's a real stretch to say that a product that's used by tens of millions of ordinary people in everyday life should require more care. If anything, it should require LESS care. Peace of mind is a luxury.

1. I do not have the case on most of the time. I only wear the case when I go out and am wearing pants. In fact, I've been wearing more gym shorts and sweatpants (college student) lately to play it on the safe side. My jeans are not tight in any exceptional way, they're a casual fit. When I'm home the case comes immediately off because I much prefer the device naked. There isn't a scratch on the thing.

2. No, I did not lay my iPhone 5 on top of the lens. The iPhone 5 is 100% on the backside body.

3. This is not some anti-Apple conspiracy here. I'm going to the store to get it replaced in the next few days. I will keep this thread updated on how Apple handles the situation.

they admit it to being kept in back pocket

now go back to your agenda....

This particular 6 Plus has been deliberately kept in a back jeans pocket, but treated well. Noticed a smaller bend on an iPhone 6 too.
