Can afford it? You love yourself.

If the carriers didn't subsidize or offer no interest financing then a lot of people would switch. Please don't think that you are cool because you have an iphone. It is a phone. Nothing special about it.

I wasn't mentioning anything about the prevalence of the bending issue. Reading comprehension and argument fail.

I think what he was saying was that there are plenty of iPhone users who can afford to buy their iPhones outright (I buy outright or subsidize, depending on the year... I've done both this year for the iPhone) and I know many who have AppleCare+ who will use that route if they wind up with a bent phone that they know they took good care of.

And of course people who want cheap(er) phones will go to other manufacturers... how else do you explain all the people carrying the cheaper Droid phones? It's sure not because they wouldn't carry an iPhone or a nicer Droid phone if they could afford one.

He's up to his eyeballs in credit card debt.

BJ The Conqueror

Nope, not a penny.

The wealthy don't use debit cards. With our outstanding credit we get fantastic points programs and charge everything on a single credit card, pay it in full every month. I've got tens of thousands of tax-free dollars in my children's 529 accounts and hundreds of thousands of miles in my travel awards accounts.

Google "how the rich get richer".

Exactly.

He's trying to solve a problem we don't have. If our iPhone's get dropped, get crushed, get shattered, get bent, we just waltz into an Apple store, have them pull up our AppleCare+ warranty, out the door we walk with a free replacement.

And those without the warranty, well they just bank that $99 and use it towards a replacement when the time comes.

It's like those people who tell you how much money you waste going on fancy vacations, as if the memories aren't enough, as if we can't afford it. Yet they have dogs and are pack-a-day smokers and spend $10,000 a year on those vices.

Them: "Your iPhones may bend!"

Us: "We don't need you to tell us how to spend our fun money."

BJ

'Promote' would imply I wish to gain from it. Its not about me.

I just want apple to give a proper response to customers and not the fob off their last statement was. People are spending a lot of money and many are being told they can't have replacement for a flawed device as apple have now classified bends as accidental damage.

Its not an anti-apple agenda it is pro-customer. An iPhone 6 shouldn't bend when doing the same things you did with an iPhone 5 without customers being given a warning before purchase.

Hahaha what a load of dross.

Phones bend because users are not careful with their phones.

There's no phone which bends on its own.

Explain why millions and millions of iphone 6 and 6+ users are happy with their purchases and only a few dozens have bent theirs?

Is it Apples fault??
Is it a design flaw?

Statistics completely dismiss your ridiculous claim.

Some people adjusted to the bigger phone and understood what a 7,1mm piece of electronic made of glass and aluminium entails others didn't....

To blame Apple and expect free replacements for user mistakes is the easy way out.

It could be a manufacturing flaw at the FoxConn or other contractor plant. We don't know for sure if it's the design or the quality control that may be at issue.

Also, how is the ordinary consumer supposed to know what mm thickness phone will bend or not? That's unreasonable.

Apple should design and manufacture the phones to withstand reasonable ordinary use by the average buyer.

The average buyer is having no problem with their iPhones only a negligible 0,0004% of users

So are we also subscribing to the myth that 9 iPhone 6s in existence have bent? What's this based on, Apple's self-disclosure a week ago? Well that certainly has all the hallmarks of legitimacy, considering everything Apple stands to gain from being honest about it (which is, of course, nothing). Many iPhone 6s, of both varieties, have bent - not everyone in the world is a vociferous Macrumors poster, so the dearth of complaints from the Apple fanboys here is indicative of nothing. Most have bent at the same spot. That spot was not the one tested by Consumer Reports. Teardowns indicate that the spot is susceptible to bending due to a design decision, not some sort of materials flaw.

Only a fool would dispute that this is a serious issue. There seem to be plenty of fools here today, including our dear friend BJ who thinks proximity to wealth is evidence to the contrary. Cute.

Meet me in Manhattan, I'll be happy to compare W2's and credit card statements, no problem.

BJ

I'm top 5% in terms of wealth and I'd largely support your comments. I never use credit and while I buy my phone subsidized I never buy AppleCare because if it breaks? I just buy a new one. With cash. Because credit is for suckers. Rich people don't get rich by using credit.

It's funny that you're dumping money into 529s. If you're any indication, your kids will have as much use for them as I will.

You may have more money than me, but not more sense. That's for sure. Keep hocking that snake oil.

You mean the same spot as the Note 4 or any other phone since the cutouts for the volume buttons make it of weaker stength?

Ouch!

Quite the opposite, actually. Only a fool would buy into the hype. Think about it. There are now well north of 10 million iPhones in circulation. How many bends would constitute a "serious problem?" In the case of "Antennagate" the instance was arguably close to 100%. Are close to 100% of sold iPhone 6 series phones bent? 50%? No? 10%? That would be over a million bent iPhones. So, 1%? Are there over 100,000 bent phones out there?

So, who's the fool here? The ones screaming about "bendgate" or the ones calling for a little calm assessment of each bend on a case by case basis?

Latest figures were 21M sold iPhones.

So 200k bent for 1%

Or 2M bent for 10%

LOL

Agree on the credit side, I get AppleCare+ because I once had two iPhones needing replacement in the warranty window and the $99 is chump-change.

I'm not dumping anything significant, it's merely 1% of $25,000 a month into 529's because that's a better use for the credit card points than travel or gifts. I have enough miles to get all the free flights and upgrades I need, I have enough money to buy all the gifts I need, the 529's are tax-free and we're going to need the cash for 4 college educations anyway.

Wow. Boasting on the internet how rich you are. That always impresses everyone.

Not boasting, just stating fact in defense of those who think everyone in a discussion forum is a college student on a budget.

Oh I know I'm impressed. Each time this character gets into a senseless debate on this site, he brings up his "wealth". There are few things members here can depend on, boltjames bringing his income & material items to the table is definitely one of them.

Newsflash boltjames, it has been a very long time since you decided that the public needs to hear about what you make and what you own, no one is impressed. It would be nice to see you actually have a discussion with folks without having to toss around what you make or what you claim to make.

I seriously doubt this was about proving you're not a college student on a budget. Nice try though.

Exactly.

More foolish:

1) Believing that there are over TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND bent phones out there that we haven't heard about (1% of sold phones and not even a "serious problem" by industry standards.)

2) Believing that "bendgate" is a load of trumped up hype.

?

A MacRumors Nehalem? I'm a 65826 processor, apparently. I wish MR would post a list of rankings, in order, to see where we stand :D

By the way, Didn't you love his picture of the Platinum Amex and Benjamin roll? Good to see he know what's important in life.

They did not replace my phone.

Talked to a genius. "Apple has not indicated to us at this time that this is a manufacturing issue. You can use an AppleCare+ replacement if you want". Talked with a manager for an hour after I explained I had a reddit thread about this. "Apple has told us that it is not a problem with the phones. We need to make sure we are being consistent, especially with you're going to tell a thousand people about this. We are not replacing bent phones at this time. If something changes, I will let you know".

This was at the Walden Galleria Mall in Buffalo, NY. The manager I spoke to is A. Gregg Curtin III.

Good on Apple

Why should Apple be liable for your mishandling of your phone?

A) Don't sit on your phone.

B) Your phone isn't even bent enough to affect function.

There was no mishandling of the phone. The Phone is pristine and has been subjected to nothing outside of normal usage conditions.
