I have purchased

Ram mount iphone 4g mount
Proclip Iphone 4g+ bumper mount

I will install the one I like best and maybe take some pictures

Also I'll be using an old iphone 3gs dock I have, taking it apart and making a custom iphone 4 pass through ( no way im paying proclip $80 for that)

Just wish Proclip made a different travel option than one that suction cups to the car windshield. In some states this is illeagal. Would like something that I can use with rental cars when traveling. Otherwise their option for my Subaru Baja suits me just fine.

Been using the Clingo for about a week now, and I must say that it's far preferable to the crappy Kensington mount I was using with my 3GS.

It's definitely worth considering. No moving parts to inadvertently sunder. Sticks like glue. Pleasantly futuristic.

Wow, that thing is crazy... I'm very curious to see one for myself. I wonder if it'll work with an Otterbox Defender or, once released, and Otterbox Commuter.

The more textured the case the less surface area for the material to stick to. That said, removing my phone (in an Incipio Feather) is often a two-handed operation. There's a lot of cling on there.

I second the ProClip choice. It is pricier than most other solutions, but in the end you get what you pay for. The ProClip is custom fit for your car, fits below the windshield so there is no visibility blockage, and optionally you can get swivel, horizontal/vertical flip, and cable pass-thru. Very sturdy construction, and no window suction cup to deal with. The ease of use and sturdy design is easily worth it.

I finally got my Clingo to test with my Otterbox Defender, and I'm very disappointed. I haven't yet done a driving test, but just testing the Clingo + Otterbox Defender on my bathroom mirror, it doesn't hold on very well, and the iPhone falls off within a matter of minutes. ****. I wonder if the Otterbox Commuter works any better.

As an update to my Clingo problems, I've tested it in my car and it performed just as poorly. I should also mention that there are 3 indents on the surface of the Clingo that significantly reduce contact surface area, as well as a brown residue that I'm unable to wash off.

I've decided to return the product for a refund. I was considering a having it replaced and perhaps changing my case, but I don't want to have to change my case for this thing. I'll keep looking for a better solution.

I'd reccomend this arkon mount:

Slim-Grip

http://www.arkon.com/iPhone_4_Car_Mount.php#IPM514#IPM514

They have a few different options for mounting, like cupholder, dash, etc. Works with a gel or hard case too.

Can you tell me how apart the lower legs spread? I've got car adapter kit with a relatively large 30-pin connector for my iPhone 4. That Arkon mount looks perfect for me, if it will accommodate my car-adapter cable.

Thanks!

just got it. Made out of aluminum instead of plastic. Fits the phone great even with a case on.

Could you share some info on a name or a site?

Its called the Luxa H5 and you can get it at luxa2.com. I got it on sale for $40 FS but they normally go for $50 plus about $10 shipping. Its the only place you can get that mount as of right now. I got it last night and it is NICE. It is very stiff thus zero wobbling.

I've got one of these http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Universal-15-Inch-Mobile-Smartphones/dp/B0035NEBTA/ref=pd_sbs_misc_3 and I love it. Fits my iPhone 4 with bumper just fine. I prefer the seat bolt option as it puts the phone down next to me where I can control my tunes, maps, etc. easily. I don't care for the vent mount or windshield mounts as they either block the A/C or view. In AZ I need all the A/C I can get!

Can you turn the phone so it's horizontal? Also, is it low enough where it might be unsafe if you're using a GPS?

i'm gonna post pictures soon, but i saw the name ARkon thrown in here and i just wanna warn you not to go wiht them. i bought a mount for my iPad and the material they used couldn't be any cheaper. It's no longer functional and its been less than 3 weeks.
