Yes all of these ideas are great...for someone a couple years older than me. I'm 13 so McDonalds,Pizza Place and things like that aren't legal jobs for someone my age. So i need something that will make me $400 in less than a year. I have no idea what to do! :apple::apple:
If you can't get money from your parents or work for relatives or neighbors, then you probably won't be able to get one. Save money from birthdays and what not.

Kid, money and goods, basically everything in life is a consequence.

You want an iPod Touch but for what? what is the experience you are looking for? having fun? sharing experiences?

I am 36, I have a digital media mayor since 1998. I studied virtual reality and enhanced reality seriously, not just Photoshop playing. Since my studies I tried to be as far as technology as I could. It is a marketing tramp. Specially in the US.

Thank got you do not have an internet addiction. My ex girlfriend was addicted to the internet, forums and facebook. She graduated from business administration with a PHD in marketing. Today she is selling donuts door to door with her new boyfriend.

Internet should be sued for what it is: a data base to find information. The social media crap is the doom. The paradise of the looser and shy and the person with the lack of social skills. Go to any dating web site and you will find the most dysfunctional people there.

Get into karate, you will love it. Montain biking (girls love guys in shape), spend your time doing outdoor stuff even when life seems slower. Trust me, you will reach your goals in life way faster than the kid with the iPad who has never kiss a girl and will be masturbating and virgin until they turn 28 (I have seen that a lot).

Be street wise, that is what is going to get you there in life. And use the internet to locate information and forget about gaming, it is a tramp to get you addicted to technology and screen and to sell you stuff.

My two cents.

all you just hatin cuz your that guy and you feel offended :D

You already have a paper route, which gives you access to a number of people. Most of your customers are likely to be older (given that they still subscribe to a daily newspaper) and are quite likely to need help with all sorts of things.

Make sure you take the time to meet all of them. In addition to the tips you should already be receiving as a paperboy, you can let them know that you're trying to save up money and are available to help with odd jobs and the like. This could be lawn mowing, snow shoveling in the winter, gardening etc.

Be careful what you charge people though, it's better to charge a very low price that guarantees you the work. Most people who hire neighborhood kids for odd jobs are inclined to tip when you do a good job, so if you offer to mow a lawn for say $10, you'll probably get $20.

People who still subscribe to a daily paper are likely to be very traditional, their opinion of young people is not likely to be very high. There was a time when every kid in the neighborhood wanted to do work to make a few bucks. Those days are long gone. These people will appreciate seeing an industrious kid, and will probably throw some work your way for nostalgic reasons at least.

If you actually do a good job for them, you'll get more. $400 in a year(your stated goal) isn't a lot of money. It's less than $8.00 per week. Find one job per week that pays you $10 and you'll be ahead of the game.

Mow lawns. I did that starting when I was 11 and made about $2000 a summer until I was 15 and got a "real job". Granted I had to mow about 3-4 lawns a day every weekday all summer but I enjoyed it and loved the money.

Working age is 14..........

I'm lucky though I can in work in my parents business. Because of that I have a Macbook air (13.3",1.86Ghz processor, 4GB Ram), Alienware m15x (15", i7 2.8Ghz turbo mode processor, 4GB Ram), iPod touch 32GB 3rd Gen, iPhone 4 16GB Verizon, Xbox 360S 250GB, 2X 1 TB external drives, and a 20" external monitor w/ Joystick 4 flight simulator. So yeah I mean I've been working for them for like 3 summers now and I still have around $7,500 (which I am going to use to buy the new mac pro when it comes out). So work hard and you can get what you want.

BTW I'm 13 years old.

nobody asked you how much stuff you had. lol. but HOLY ****!

and yeah, you're making way more than a real job will pay you. 3 summer worth of work and you have $7,500 left over after buying all that ****. Lol, that doesn't even make sense. I work a pretty rigorous job as a golf instructor/pro shop cashier, and would be lucky to even have $3,000 of spare money after the summer. ****, even with my job at school, I'd be lucky to have even close to $,7,500 to spare. Good for you man, great to see a young kid working for his rewards, but please save that money. When you get to college, you'll need it.

You'll be wishing you had that extra money when you get hit with 16,000 to 50,000 dollar a year college fees haha.

Post another thread about it, but ask for donations.

That could work.

Just kidding, don't do that.

But seriously, why can't you get a job? I've had decent jobs since I was 14. It's very possible; $75 isn't a lot of money. If you work even 20 hours a week at a minimum wage job, you could swing it on a few weeks pay (assuming $5 minimum wage).

Agreed 100%. I've been working full time since I turned 14. Started at a gas station where I made $200/week doing grunt work for the mechanic.

Everything in this thread from garage sales to mowing lawns for neighbors (this is the prime time for that) are great alternatives, but you should be able to get legitimate work. Inquire at the main office of your school. They should help you with the working papers.

I guess if your parents are cool with it you could do online surveys.

And the funny part is, this thread basically has nothing to do with the iPod, just money. And it's on Macrumors. Go figure.

LOL

Suddenly weed is part of the discussion.

True, Selling weed will make money but the dangers that lie ahead is just far to scary for an ordinary person to attempt.
