where can you even buy that? i see its a 2006 model and most stores dont have it in stock. i only see something similar fp241vw

Newegg has it (although it said deactivated), not sure about other places. I used it at home, and it works pretty well - it does a lot of the stuff a TV can do (not 100% sure about 120 hz stuff), so you can actually use it as a TV if you have cable box or what not, since the panel don't have a TV tuner. I don't have a problem with it and it's certainly better than the cheapo Samsung 19" I have as a second screen. When I first brought it, it was like $900, but back then, it's the first 1080P support panel as its size. People in Newegg put in great reviews for it, so if the price is right, I can see no wrong with going with this panel.

Yeah I saw the deactivated, so theres no way to buy it from them. I found it on a few other sites that I would worry a bit buying from.

I'm also now looking at the $550 viewsonic http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116079

it looks like no matter what I do if i want a good monitor for gamming and movies Ill need two different monitors because of input lag ( i like fps and input lag will cause trouble playing competitvly)

There isn't noticeable ghosting as claimed for the Dell 2407WFP HC
Nothing from the cursor either.
I can't re create input lag as well.
I don't have any of the reported problems. I'm very happy about that
knocks on wood.

The monitor still is too slow as being only 60hz for when you game or want more than that, it won't display.
Only Hi end tv's have 120hz processing that will redraw frames, such as
Sony Xbr4/5 , Samsung 70, 80 series and Mitsubishi 44 series.

Go Benq!

I'm in the same boat as you...I'm considering the BenQ FP241WZ. Check it out, all of the reviews I've read have been really good and it's got all of the features you could possibly want. :)

Anyone know when the new Dell 24inch will come out?

NEC came out with 3 new models but they are 17,19,22 inch(who cares) i want 1080

I purchased the Dell 2407 after returning the Gateway 2400 (thought it was crappy overall). So far I love it. I cant produce any ghosting and the color/viewing angel is up to par with my old Dell 2007.

I suggest that monitor highly. $599 + 15% off coupon +free shipping +No Tax made this monitor $510 or so to my door.

The Dell 2408 (newest model, unreleased) seems to be a good upgrade but there seems to be no idea when it will be released.

I think I need to buy a second 24" Dell in the next month or two, they are just too damn sexy.

After reading all the reviews I could on 24 inch monitors, I decided to push the button on the Samsung 245bw from Newegg. With the $50 rebate it will be $399 to my door in a couple of days. That will be my horse I will ride until NEC drops their prices or Apple updates their 23 inch...along with better reliability. The ACD 23 is awesome looking though!

...with dropping enough hints, maybe a 30 inch will be under the Christmas tree for 08.

Until then, I will go with the 245bw.

i bought the white NEC ;)

$800 after taxes and shipping
damnnnnnnnnnnnn what was this poor college student thinking

oh well it better be good.

Here's a good review of the BenQ, LG, and Dell 2407 (non-HC model)

Personally, I'd wait for the 2408 which really should be available any day now. It was available on Dell's website for a short while but seems to have been removed. You can read about it more at the link below. Not sure if the printed specs will match reality when it ships.

Just my 2 cents :)

I got the Dell 2407WFP HC a week or so ago. Was using dual 19" Samsung 940bs. It's pretty sweet - deeper colors - really like it. I'm still keeping one of the 19's in portrait mode and as a secondary display. The 24" is a nice size but the dual monitors make a difference work flow wise.

I just bought the Dell 2407 WFP-HC an hour ago after extensive online reviews of 24" monitors. I seriously considered getting the Benq FP241W and found it as low as $549 Canadian. The Dell was $599 direct from Dell Canada. I liked a lot of things about the Benq but decided on the Dell because it was coming from Dell directly and I was a bit hesitant about the Benq availability. Most stores are out of stock and not getting any more of them. If you want one I'd suggest you scoop one up quick. I was concerned that if I had to return a monitor that availability might impact what I got in return. Both are excellent monitors and have S-PVA screens. The Benq supports Full HD 1080P while the Dell has some limitations here. That's about the main difference between the two from my evaluation.

the nec i got is amazing.
no ghosting while watching transformers in hd
everything is perfect except im getting some backlight bleeding which is unheard of for this monitor so im sending it back to new egg for a new one. ill report back after that

I assume you don't plan on gaming with it. A minimum of 5ms is recommended for gaming <5 is even better.

I wouldn't look at anything else but the ACD. The 30" is just amazing. I've owned several Dell monitors and just recently had the pleasure of using the new 3008FPW for a day, while impressive, it's still not up to par with the ACD in my opinion. The ACD has such supreme color replication, brightness, and contrast - it's truly amazing.
