HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\Software

4. Name it as “BootDir” and set its value to “C:\”

didn't work

I already removed the XP Partition. Ill try V!$^@ soon.

Responding to something someone said, but I didn't quote NTFS is no good for os x, there are permission problems i.e. read but no write.

But since this is for a bootcamp partition it shouldn't matter so whatever XP wants (probably NTFS) but be advised that service pack 1 doesn't work with boot camp (I think) you may want to double check, but I'd make sure that the xp install disc is at least sp2

What is this, a freaking Windows forum now? Its often the same guys who grab any opportunity to plaster the MBP/PB area with Windows OS posts.

Just a HIGHLIGHT for others who want to install WinXP with Bootcamp, you HAVE to according to instructions from Apple to select some sort of format (you ought not to select “Leave the current file system intact")

Important: Do not select “Leave the current file system intact.” To successfully install
Windows XP, you must select one of the other options.

Ya, SP1 didn't work, I'll try Vista soon.

Thanks for the link. I'm actually installing SP2 now so we'll see if that works first. If not I'll download the updated installer.

edit: SP2 didnt work....It didnt have enough space

So anyways I put the installer on my thumbdrive and hopefully that will work.

Then you have SP1. It's a common problem. You'll need XP SP2 to install and update. If you have another PC with a burner, go look on google for "slipsteam SP2", this will help you make a backup SP2 drive, so you'll be able to reinstall and make it work.

Or if you can get vista, it will work with any SP.

Get ntfs.
Then get macdrive 7 for windows, and then get paragon ntfs for mac.
Voila, you can read and write from both partitions in each OS.
Its what i do :)
Youll want NTFS, bloody FAT32 cant even do files over 4 gigs!
