My Primary smartphone, a terrific ultra reliable fast and highly useful Nexus 6 puts my wife's iPhone 6S Plus to shame.

It's a simple as that.

Well if you are happy and she's happy, then nothing to complain about.

But the "putting to shame" part I think you'd have plenty of 6S Plus owners challenging... me being one of them. I wouldn't use a Nexus 6 if you gave it to me for free, other than to just check it out. I used an Android phone as a primary device for 6 months earlier this year, and there was way to much friction with the rest of my, and my families, ecosystem. Unless I was willing to give all of that up at tremendous cost, anything Android will be put to shame with anything iOS, in my world. I'm not about having a feature race, I'm about maximizing productivity from my technology tools. They are tools after all.

The 6s Plus represents to me the best smartphone experience I've ever had, by quite a bit of margin.

Its good to have choice.

lol you hit the nail on the head. This thread is so humorous to read if you ever followed the threads last year regarding RAM and powering the large display. People would argue to a fault that the 6+ wasn't under spec'd and that people were just making up issues to complain. Now everyone seems to have jumped on the "crippled from the start" bandwagon. People have short memories around here.

People who thought 1Gb was 'fine' on a 6+ were either trolling or were using their device as a dumb phone. The 6+ couldn't hold anything in memory and the logs were full of low memory events. Doing certain tasks was impossible on the 6+ because of refreshing safari tabs and reloading apps.

I nearly held on to my 6 Plus after having the 6S Plus screen blemish issue.

I did finally find an acceptable 6S Plus, but I feel the displays on the older 6 Plus were better.

For me this was such an issue I would have foregone the performance of the new phone to keep a better display on the old.

There were plenty of people on both sides. Seems like there are still some on either side. Doesn't really seem like everyone changed to one side or another.

Anyone can parse words
Over analyze & be critical.
Often that's a sign that others thoughts values and experiences are of no value to the closed minded narcissistic person.
Wow, way to be defensive right out the gate.

My only intention was to point out that your statement could have been considered ambiguous, leading to various interpretations by various individuals.

I find your comment humorous in context of the situation, and I'll leave it at that. I've learned a long time ago that it's often not worth it trying to discuss things with a great many people, over the internet or otherwise, since most are not going to come around and even if they are, what am I going to get out of it. Cheers to you and I hope you continue to enjoy your Nexus devices in addition to whatever iDevices you currently own or will own in the future.

Posting... for what appears to be nothing more than an ego boosting entry, one that criticises others in lieu of a meaningful discussion about the product, is commonplace in a variety of Apple forums.

Hmmmm... it's very revealing of the deep seated emotional connections some have with the inanimate objects they covet.

Use me as a data point, those of you considering "upgrading."

I tried both. I stayed with the 6 Plus. Reasons: weight and absence of features that I found annoying (force touch). Plus, I did not find the 6S Plus appreciably faster for most of what I do on a daily basis, which surprised me. The speed was the thing I was most looking forward to, and I thought it would tempt me to ditch the 6 Plus. The small additional weight of the 6S Plus was just enough to make the device annoyingly and noticeably heavy.

So I bought a new leather case on eBay for my 6 Plus, and I'm loving it more than ever.

There are several other benefits of the 6+ over the 6s+. Recalling several threads from the first few weeks of release by people comparing them, the 6+ has a better display, slightly brighter and cleaner, which may be due to something they had to do with the screen to allow force touch. The speakers are also supposed to be comparatively better on the 6+, and the last thing I recall is that the battery life was noted as significantly better on the 6+. These are all significant factors imo.

You are wise about not upgrading in case the lag increases - I have an older version of ios running totally smoothly on an old iphone 5 - the fact apple cant get their newer and more powerful phones to run a multitasking animation smoothly is either incompetence or intended to force people to upgrade. I remember the original ios on the original ipad, totally smooth and never lagged, now splitting the keyboard on the latest ipad mini 4 is and embarrassing and annoying glitch-fest. Apple seem to be lowering their standards for what they will release to the public since jobs died, he wouldn't have wanted users to experience such laggy stuttery experiences

Your assessment of the 6s Plus is total nonsense... Do you even have one? You can find posts on here that completely contradict. My 6s Plus has none of these issues and is by far the smoothest and most refined smartphone I've ever used, and the first one I freely use without any worry of the battery going dead.

Next year you can just use cut and paste to describe the 6S plus vs the new 7, does Apple know its customers or what?
Well I'd agree if the 6 plus wasn't the worst performing iPhone out of the box that Apple has ever released.

Normally I would just say the newer phone is faster but in the case of the 6 plus, it was really a dog and (well documented on these forums even BEFORE the 6s plus) struggled mightily. So the snarky remark doesn't really apply here.

True, the RAM was the most welcome addition to the 6S series. It made the phone a multi tasking machine and removed much frustration when switching between apps and using media heavy sites.

Even 2gb of RAM is very little for iPhone 6S. It pales in comparison to Nexus 6P multi-tasking capabilities. After about 10-12 open apps, iPhone starts refreshing apps.

But make no mistake, 2gb is still paltry. It was made intentionally so that Apple can sell you 3GB iPhone next year, which will still be bare minimum at that time.

Apple follows, bare minimum philosophy, meaning they ship iPhones with barely acceptable specs to make you device's lifespan shorter. Apple wants you to upgrade as often as possible, that's how they make money. They don't want you to keep using your old iPhone.

Apple knew very well that 1gb was barely acceptable for iPhone 6 Plus, they are smarter than you. They want your iPhone to become unusable by the second year of its life

I just realized something. OP started bashing in my own thread too about how 6s plus is not moving forward. People who can afford it and could acquire the best and the greatest will buy the 6s Plus. Stick with the 6 plus, maybe you could convince yourself it's not worth upgrading if you say it a million times.

When I first held the iPhone 6s Plus in the hand, the first thing that came to mind was how premium it felt compared to its predecessors.
