I can't believe the notch bothers people that much. I'm not thrilled about how they've chosen to shape the software around it but just looking at the home screen with the notch, it doesn't bother me a bit.
I don't love the notch, but I think it's too early to draw an absolute judgment on it. To be honest, for me it will all hinge on how developer apps look on it, and it's going to be quite some time before they are all "optimized" for this new screen.

The notch is an eyesore, how did the design team allow it to be included? It's a mystery to me

It doesn't really bother me. They had to put all the sensors and cameras somewhere right? The only other alternative was to do what everyone did and just make the top portion of the bezel a little thicker and straight across.

The way Apple did it shows more screen. I'm not really that techy so maybe it's just me I dunno? And I still own a 3 year old 6 plus so I'm not really a fan boy, this is just my two cents.

yep, have no idea where they would put all those sensors and cameras if it didn't have that notch.

You simply have a slightly larger bevel on top but keep the screen straight across and to the absolute edge of the device on the sides and bottom. There are so many different options than doing a notch that simply looks unnatural when viewing images, movies, games, etc.

Personally the mockups with the screen blacked out on the sides of the notch look better, plus you still get the benefit of using them as a status indicator area, freeing up screen space on the rest of the usable display.

Great idea! It'd be like a support group for those whose lives are so empty that this is what they choose to complain about.

Those fools! How dare they not drop $1k on a new iPhone, knowing thier lives are truly fulfilled owning the coolest gadget on the block!

Are you serious?

No matter what Apple does or doesn't do, there are going to be plenty of people on here complaining that Apple doesn't know what it is doing and they are doomed, all because said persons lost the ability to upgrade and brag to their friends and forum, that they are sporting the latest and supposedly greatest from Apple.

This I wonder also. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall at some of those meetings. No one quit though, as far as I know....yet

But we have a month to think about it, and they (Apple) had time for testing, evaluation, etc. It may just not seem to be so obvious in a few weeks; but it sticks out now, for sure.

I don't really see why anyone with a 7 Plus needs to upgrade this year. Notch or not, is your phone lacking to the point when you need to spend $1000 on a replacement?

I've mentioned this before on the forums, buying smartphones is more about wanting to and not needing to. Nobody "needs" to spend several hundred on a smartphone. If you have the money and like to buy new tech, why not?

But do we really need a new thread about the notch every single day?

Sure why not? LOL I can understand why some are "put off" by the notch. However it never bothered me. Hey, I've had a relatively hefty black frame around my iPhones as long as I've owned them. Compared to the "bespeckled" (as in glasses frames) I consider the notch to be an improvement. Just joking . . . the frame and the notch are not bothersome to me.

There are plenty of ongoing threads about the notch itself, not to mention threads about people not getting the iPhone X for any number of reasons. And these threads are all on the first page of the forum. Why not post in one of the ongoing threads, instead of creating your own?

This! I'm already sick of people complaining about the notch already. Maybe the mods should create a thread titled "Notch hate".

lol @ spending a thousand dollars. I'll have it for a year and prolly pay about 200 give or take. OMG!

You're on an apple forum. You've been overspending for stuff for YEARS. And this one the vast majority don't pay a grand up front for.

All those that don't hate the notch yet... wait till it starts appearing on macs, ipads etc

Then tell me you like the notch

I can't get over how they removed the headphone jack, now touch ID, still no gigabit LTE modem, Intel modems for T-Mobile and AT&T that work like crap, and a price that is out of my range to consider this time around.

Oh and yes, that notch and camera bump are an eye sore.

Count me among those who do not find the "Notch" to be any problem at all. I believe that when I'm watching a video, or reading anything on the iPhone X, or sending or receiving texts or emails, that I'll be so wrapped up in what I'm doing that I will not notice it all all. Just as I do not notice the white bezel around my iPhone 7+ now, although there were threads on here telling everyone how :apple: had failed by putting out iPhones and iPads with white bezels because they would be too noticeable while viewing anything on it.

I've never owned an iPhone or iPad that was black just because I consider them too depressing. I've never had any problem in blocking out things that I don't want or need to see on them, so I don't think I'll have any problem at all with the insignificant "notch". There are millions of others who think just like me.

If you're not one of them then don't purchase one, this will move those us who do want them, and are not bothered by the little things in life, to move up in the line so we can get and be happy with our new OLED phone. Thanks.
