yesterday.
I was at a shop which had several Macs. At one part there was the latest Macbook, next to it a Macbook Air and next to that a Macbook Pro.
While I expected to see the Macbook as the thinnest and smallest, I didn't expect to see it as....a toy. It looked almost fake to my eyes compared to the other two laptops. I enjoyed videos of it on youtube etc where it looks great, but up close....not so much. I am not even kidding when I say that a netbook I bought in 2008 looked less of a toy that this.

Unfortunately I am not exactly looking to buy a new Mac right now, but if I was going for something light, I would definitely go for the Air.
The reason I am writing this is because of how shocked I still am to how bad it looked to me.

God I hope the next laptops from Apple (Air/Pro) don't try to copy this.

Curious as to what you found toy-like about the rMB. Size? Weight? Color? Limited connectivity? It may not meet everyone's laptop needs, but that doesn't warrant being so dismissive, IMO.

It's hard to explain. It's not the connectivity (which I find absurd but irrelevant for this), or the weight (I didn't pick it up). Part of it might have been the size, not just screen size but overall, but then again it is not the first time I see a small laptop. I guess it could be a combination of size, color, how light reflected on it, etc. It looked cheap plastic like. As I said I was surprised as from watching videos of it I was looking forward seeing it, it looks great in videos.

I don't think you gave it a fair shot, then. The rMB isn't quite what I'm looking for in a laptop, but the times I've tried it in the Apple Store, it's felt good in my hands and not-at-all toy-like.

Personally, I dislike the keyboard. Much rather prefer the Air.

Thanks for your honest opinion I can certainly understand to some it may well look tiny/toy like but be assured it's not and I prefer svelte :)

I agree the new rMB KB would be more controversy than it's worth IMO if implemented on any new MAC and I could not imagine a 15" MAC in rose gold

I didn't judge it as a system. Only how it looked to me.

Never seen this before. Photo or in person. I can't comment on this HP (if that is hp).
Besides photo wouldn't help that much. As I mentioned before, videos and photos of the macbook made me think it was a beautiful laptop. It wasn't till I saw it person it looked like a toy to me.

That's a real shame as I think that it's the best Apple product of all time. I love the design. I hated the MacBook Air though - that horrible year 2000 silver bezel thing and the tinny sounding speakers. I just don't understand the love for the Air - to me, it looks so dated. And I love Rose Gold but Apple's colour is not a proper rose gold.

Disagree with you completely. This reminded me of the Air in 2008. All laptops are going to look like it soon. Just look at the ASUS Zenbook 3.

i honestly have to say that i like the look of the new MacBooks. I will not purchase one as i prefer the screen on the 15. I agree that the pro series in the future will try to mimic the size of the MBs.

I can kind of understand where the original thread starter is coming from. The MB can look comically small and almost useless looking at first glance.

I remember looking at one on the table at the Apple Store when I was waiting for the guy to get mine and I did say to myself "How am I going to do anything on that?"

But the truth is you need to use it.

I use mine everyday. I don't use another computer if I can help it. I have access to iMacs, MBP's, MBA's but always use my MB now for software dev, web dev, digital art and 3D.

Can't fault it.

I am glad some/most of you guys liking it. I just don't like how it looks. :)

After much deliberation, there can be only one reason why you feel that way- you're seeing it wrong .
LOL so I have to be wrong in some way? I can't just have my own taste/view?
That's rich.
I hope you are kidding. :)

Totally disagree, I have the macbook in space grey as well as a Dell 13 Inch XPS (2016 model) and 13inch Macbook PRo. The build quality and materials used on the Macbook are at least on par if not better than both the Dell and mac. It is nothing like a toy and how you can compare it to a netbook I have no idea! Did you actually pick it up and use it and feel the quality of the unibody aluminum used? The screen quality is one of the best currently made, the keyboard once you have used it for a few hours is a great you just have to have a lighter touch when typing and the trackpad wipes the floor of any other I have used. It doesn't flex and is balanced so you only need one hand to open it.
