Totally disagree, I have the macbook in space grey as well as a Dell 13 Inch XPS (2016 model) and 13inch Macbook PRo. The build quality and materials used on the Macbook are at least on par if not better than both the Dell and mac. It is nothing like a toy and how you can compare it to a netbook I have no idea! Did you actually pick it up and use it and feel the quality of the unibody aluminum used? The screen quality is one of the best currently made, the keyboard once you have used it for a few hours is a great you just have to have a lighter touch when typing and the trackpad wipes the floor of any other I have used. It doesn't flex and is balanced so you only need one hand to open it.
Did you actually read the post you are replying to?

Erm the one where you describe the Macbook as like a toy, and the materials look like plastic. Grant you I didn't actually notice you hadn't picked it up or used it to any extent so that I will apologize. However I did try to show how far from a "toy" like appearance, build quality and in use it actually is! Maybe pick one up and use it for a while and see if you are left with the same impressions!

My point was never that it is a toy or that it performs like a toy. Only that it looks like a toy to me.
Apology accepted.

I understand what you you were trying to put across however I hope you understood my point that in reality how far from "toy like" it actually is including the looks and build materials :) It is very small and understated though :)

I am glad some/most of you guys liking it. I just don't like how it looks. :)

I guess I never understood threads like these...are we supposed to all convince you? I don't like how most Chromebooks/Windows/MacBook Air laptops look at all, but I never feel the need to start threads stating that opinion.

Stop looking for ulterior motives.
You will feel better.

Yes I do, but it was never a matter of if it is good or not. :) I just mentioned how it looked to me. Purely looked. :)

Good call. I'll leave you to your trolling. I need to jump into the MacBook Air forum and start a thread about how the bezel make it look cheap and like a toy...instead of, you know, moving on.

I remember my first time when I saw the rMB in real life. Oh boy,it was just like the first time I saw a girl naked.
LOL I remember when I first saw the Sunflower. Others were making fun of it, I loved how it looked.

I was actually trying to figure out what you were saying. You say it looks like a toy, like plastic. Why? Doesn't look much different from the videos to me now that I have one myself, so I just don't get what you're talking about. :)

When I think of a netbook from 2008 I see a black glossy plastic 'laptop' that's just so fat and had such a complicated design it seemed like they weren't even trying to make it pretty. The MacBook doesn't that have much too it, just a... simpler MacBook Air in shape.

Perhaps it's just me then. I don't have a specific list to check as to why something looks one way or another, why I like what something looks like or not.
When I saw it in person all I could think of was that it looks, as I said, like a toy, cheap etc.
Oh yeah netbooks for the most part were ugly as sin. I don't argue against it.
This didn't look ugly, just cheap.
Different people different taste?

Sure, there's taste and opinions. But it's totally possible to elloborate, give arguments to support your views. I mean, what else can we get out of this pretty pointless thread? :D

It's pretty simple with the old netbooks; they look cheap to me because of shiny plastics and bad build quality. They can look ugly because of the footprint-to-thickness-ratio.

Can't imagine you can't think of a reason why you think of the MacBook this way. Maybe compare it with a MacBook that doesn't look like a toy to you?

I, for example, think the MacBook looks fancy and expensive. The shiny Apple logo on the lid, the anodized aluminum, the unibody design that eliminates break lines, the slim design that looks like it took some serious engineering to get it that way. That's just what I see.

Damn I'm bored.

Well I did happen to mention earlier that it looked like a cheap Casio watch from the 80s to me. Combined with the dimensions I guess and I did mention that it was next to two other macs which looked better to me...combine all of them and you might have the answer you are looking for?
I don't know what else you are expecting? I mean if I talked about hardware issues then yes I guess I would "need" to go into details, but since we are talking about the looks of it?

Well, if you actually said why the other Macs looked better (I like the MacBook better because I think it looks more modern) or which similarities the MacBook and that watch share (I'm guessing color, but the MacBook has a very different texture).

Those are the details that make up your view on the MacBook.

You made a thread about your opinion on the MacBook, but it lacks any real arguments as to why you think it looks like a toy and cheap. It's just not clear and that might be the reason others in this thread responded the way they did. ;)

No, I didn't make a thread about my opinion on the Macbook. I made a thread about the looks of the Macbook when I saw it for the first time. Yet some people here take it like I went to attack their mother or something because I dared to say that I didn't like how this computer looked to me.
People want a thesis as to why I like something how it looks and why I don't like how something looks.
The whole thing is funny to say the least.
Why don't some people just accept that perhaps someone doesn't have the same taste as they have?
How dare I to not have the same taste!!! How dare I to not have a page of text ready to explain myself! as to why I don't like how it looks!
Oh the humanity!
Absolutely absurd.

Never seen this before. Photo or in person. I can't comment on this HP (if that is hp).
Besides photo wouldn't help that much. As I mentioned before, videos and photos of the macbook made me think it was a beautiful laptop. It wasn't till I saw it person it looked like a toy to me.

I just bought one of these new HP's. The build quality is excellent-feels solid and the keyboard is a joy to type on. So far after 4 days of use I am getting 10 hours of battery life. A-ok with me. Very nice to carry with you in the full grain leather sleeve to the cafe and sip a drink while writing those policy and procedure manuals in Word. Screen resolution is not as great as on the Macbook - tops out at 1080p. But the image quality looks better to me. For now this thing beats the Macbook - as long as you don't mind Windows 10. Apple is coming out with a new line of ultra thin macbooks and mbp's later this year so I might come back if Apple decides to bring in a large display.

Thank you for your input.
My only hands on experience with HP machines in the last 20 years (I don't remember seeing any HP computer in the early 90s or 80s) was with a Compaq machine which I bought just before it was consumed by HP (about 2002 IIRC) which wasn't really an HP machine I guess, and more recently (last year) a 14" low cost laptop (celeron CPU). Don't get me wrong, for the money it was ok but I don't see myself going to get a HP laptop for the next purchase. Of course never say never.
I wouldn't install Windows 10 if I was paid for it. I despise the big brother BS coming with it and the whole attitude of MS. Don't get me wrong, they were always **** since at least the early 90s (owned workbench and TOS machibes before 1993 and used DOS machines sparingly apart from a brief 3 year period 1986-88).
I have decided my next systems will probably be a mix of Macs and Linux systems.
I am eagerly awaiting for what Apple will release this year, though I have to admit I couldn't purchase more modern computers at this time lol.
Thanks again for your input.

I run Windows 10 exclusively on the RMB and it's better as an operating system than you are a troll.

It's completely fine with me that you don't like how the MacBook looks. Completely.

It's just ridiculous to make a thread about it and not being able to even write down one sentence to explain you're thoughts. Something which no one cared for until you made a thread about it.

Example:

"Hey guys, I just saw the LaFerrari for the first time in real life but it just looked so different from the videos! It looked like a hot wheels toy! It reminds me of a fire truck from the early 50s."

Some people go "Okay, good for you". Others might think "Okay, when saw it the first time I though it looked stunning because of A and B. Come to think of it, why does it look like a fire truck to you?"

And then you go: "It just looks like a fire truck, I don't have to explain myself!"

But some might have genuine interest in your views and thought this was the point of this thread instead of just sharing your opinion and then shut up about it. Something which could've been done easily on, say, Twitter. It's quite normal on forums to discuss a topic.
