So your service would include plating both the watch and the milanese band?

How will the plating hold up on the band and will it affect the paper-like texture of the band?

I was just sent an article saying that someone else has already plated an apple watch, but they are only at about 5 microns. today I plated it with about 35 microns. Gold plating does wear off though, I'm working on a retouching service where we will relate a watch for less than that the retail price because all the prep layers are already there. I'm think $149 for a replate.

What do you guys think?

just wondering the coating is not actual gold right?

the coating is real gold. Its 24 karat.

Wow, I was about to get it done for 650. Is it good plating though? it wont fall off or something.

Also can you coat the sport band too so it has the gold tips?

Gold is not my thing, but WOW! Great job!

I will refer anyone who is liking a gold AW, but not the Edition price.

How about an option for just the watch part and not the band?

399 for watch + band
299 for just watch?

You could make some serious $$$ doing that for other people I think. I believe some people would pay a couple hundred to have it done and look that good. I don't know how many hours labor it took but there is money to be made there. I would consider doing it to my SS milanese.

Except the moment he sets up shop, the Apple police will swoop down. They won't like an unauthorized 3rd party cutting into their action.

There are a few sites offering this feature... check out the "lets see some gold" thread. I don't know if they could interfere with this... particularly if he is just touching the bands.

Looks great! Do you do anything like rose gold on the bikes or is it just that color?

Hey guys, I'm convinced. I'm going to do this. I just talked to my coowners and we can do 1000+ day. I'm putting together a squarespace page right now.

$399 seems like a good price. Its worth it for us, but not outrageous. I would totally do it if I didn't already own the shop

OP,

What would you charge just to do the watch and not the band? I have milanese 42. I love the look of the gold but I am not crazy about the gold band on the milanese. I am not sure normal milanese would look good with gold watch but I am curious what you would charge just for watch itself? That would cut out about half the labor right?

I would consider switching bands for it as well.

OP,

Make sure to include a disclaimer that peoples' warranties are most likely void if they choose to have their watch plated by a third party.

Just a cautionary note. Gold plating wears off rather quickly, especially from something you wear all day, every day. Gold plate is slightly more durable than a gold wash, but it's not going to last and last like the watch itself. While it will be pretty easy to polish off the case, you might find the band a little more problematic. To anyone who gets their watch plated, you may want to consider getting a second band pretty soon.

Gold plate has a tendency to dull as it's exposed to body parts and fluids. There is a good reason why you don't see a lot of gold plated wedding rings, folks.

Aw crap.. THAT LOOKS AMAZING. I wish I would have bought the SS for this alone!

Is this possible to do on a Sport Apple Watch? That looks HAWT ;)

Edit: ^^ He posted as I was typing haha! Now I need to swap mine for an SS !!

I don't want to post the link to the actual watch we have for sale on ebay as this is not the buy/sell forum, but if you search "38mm GOLD Apple Watch in stock and ready to ship" you'll find it. As of right now, its up to $600

Hope OP is smart enough to consult a lawyer before embarking on this. Aside from drawing interest from Apple, he'll also need to protect himself from liability of voiding warranties and other problems involved with people sending him their $500-$1000 watches.
