I kinda want "Disagree", but the laughing emoticon seems to be used in a mocking way almost as often as it is used in a wholesome way. Maybe it should be removed because "Like" can be used as a substitute. Other members feel free to hit me with some laughs as you have before but you are proving my point. :p I just think that if it's so often being used in an unintended way then maybe it should go.

IMO this emoji debate underlies a greater hostility problem that’s become the norm on the forums. The obnoxiousness of them is the result of obnoxious behavior driving their usage which is why you see the debate about which ones are acceptable, to whom, and when wavering so much. Emojis used as passive aggression opinion dumping (people going through threads liking everything which confirms their own opinion or disliking / laughing at that which doesn’t) is a slice of the pie.

It’s pretty sad to me as someone who had so much fun chatting back in the day - I don‘t really care to participate in much conversation anymore. There’ve been launches which were probably as controversial as APM ($15k Apple Watch Edition, anyone?), but look at how the majority of the apm threads devolve into straight up nastiness... I just don’t remember that occurring before and there’s a myriad of topics it happens with (don’t dare to mention developers...).

But who is to say in what context an emoji is meant to be used? Using the laughing emoji to laugh with someone or at someone are both valid IMO.

I would just rather not have mocking emojis on the forum. IMO a simple dislike or engaging in respectful debate is better.

While I agree that some use the laughing emote in a mocking context the joke is actually on them as it counts as a +1 for the members reaction score. Even though the emojis and reaction score are meaningless anyone attempting to mock someone by giving them a +1 community bump isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

What happened to the dislike? I don’t see it anymore.
