I remember hanging around here a lot more at launch of the OLED Pro, debating whether it’s worth spending £1000 on an iPad.

I did indeed felt a little guilty at spending so much, but man, what a purchase it’s turned out to be.

I’ve found myself not bothering with the tiny iPhone screen on evenings and weekends. My iPad Pro is used instead.

It’s glorious. The display is so good for video, and I’ve got way more value out of my YouTube Premium subscription, thanks to the OLED Pro.

The lightness is a game-changer too.

So that’s it, I use it every single day. Why did I worry so much about the price point!

In fact, I’m now thinking that when a new model comes out, I might ALSO get the large size (I have the 11”) becuase there’s times where myself and the missus watch a show in the kitchen or in bed, and for those uses

Yes its expensive for sure (plus an additional £250 for magic keyboard), but if the new iPP is your daily/main computing device then its worth it. The tandem OLED display is the best display on the market though, it’s just stunning.

Same but with 13" M4.

I pretty much do the same with my iPad Air. I know the OLED screen looks better but for me it doesn’t look that much better. If I had both an OLED iPad and iPad Air, it wouldn’t look better enough for me to walk to the next room to get it. Of course, maybe that’s just with my eyes.

Just love my iPad coupled with a Mac Mini. Cheaper, more versatile and infinitely more pleasant to use than a laptop.
I’ve been using my Mac mini combined with my 13” M4 iPad Pro. Great setup using universal control. I’ve only got 2 minor issues: I still need a mouse or trackpad to wake the mini. I’m sure I’m missing how to fix that. Also, the scrolling using the Magic Keyboard for the iPad doesn’t scroll similarly as it does on the iPad. With the mini screen, I just resort to using the scroll bars.

Otherwise, it’s a great combination. I just snooze the mini and grab the iPad off the keyboard case when I want just the tablet.

With continuity if you have the iPad connected to the magic keyboard, you can scroll your mouse off of the iPad screen onto your Mac mini screen and use the touchpad on the magic keyboard combination and type with the keyboard so you don’t have to have a separate 10 minutes, always smart to have a keyboard and mouse, but when you’re working on something, you can just scroll on and off the screen to the other device

I’m seriously considering moving on my lovely MacBook Pro M2 and just working with my base model iPad Pro M4 11 inch and getting the base Mac Mini M4 to connect with my LG Oled 49 that’s also my monitor in the study. I’m thinking it’s the perfect combo.

I use Luna display.

It’s got its own set of problems. It’s certainly nowhere near the ease of just opening a laptop.

But if you can cope with its limitations, which exist on one hand, then the benefits of pure versatility which exist on the other hand can definitely out weigh anything.

I use Jump desktop to remote in, if I’m not taking the Mac with me. That’s great actually, but what would be very much better would be if the mini could be powered by usb, and therefore via a battery pack.

I split my usage between the M4 iPad Pro 11" and the iPad mini A17 Pro. Mainly using the Pro at home and the mini on the go. It's just convenient being able to have a pocketable tablet that can fit in the glove box or the door's storage compartment, plus T-Mobile just has a great 5G network that's just as solid as most WiFi connections. The screen on the Pro is second to none though, and it's lightweight as well compared to previous generations.

I have the 13" Air and I want to trade it in for either the 11 or 13" Pro... The 13" Air is too heavy to be a tablet though. 13" Pro users, do you think it's actually light enough now?

I have a love hate with my m1 iPad Pro. It’s great for content but I find it hard infuriating when trying to use excel or office apps.

However one thing I don’t think it gets enough credit for is it robustness! The screen is way tougher against scratches versus a laptop screen. Mine is still mint versus laptop screen isn’t

The iPad Pro is an amazing device despite its steep price point and I am very happy for you! I can say the same things about the M1 variant which still amazes me to this day.

I remember buying the M4 13” IPP because of a couple features it had over my 2020 IPP, landscape camera and extended screen support and thinking that is a big expense for those 2 features, plus, I knew I needed the new MK and pencil.

But I use it nearly all day every day and got benefits I didn’t really consider (OLED is just stunning, the thinness is really impressive, scanning docs is better, the MK functions keys and escape are great etc). So I can justify it financially.

I have always said, no one device is perfect (for me) but the versatility of the IPP makes it the closest.

I was away for the weekend and took my Nikon Zf and a pancake lens plus my 11 M4 iPad Pro. So light and convenient and editing in Lightroom with the Apple Pencil is just great now.

Work-wise I’ll nearly always choose my Nikon Z9, fast lenses, 16” M4 MBP and 2 x 27” screens but that’s a lot of stuff that isn’t convenient.

The screen, pencil plus the more advanced state of the Adobe apps makes 90% of what I do photography-wise (if not design-wise) now perfectly viable on the go. And it’s all easy to sling in a bag which makes it more fun!

I really should have gone for the 13” model. This is my last time buying an 11” version. It’s too large, for me, to use regularly without a stand/keyboard case at which point the added real estate of the 13” is absolutely a no brainer. I will wait until I replace my MBPro, likely next year, then the iPP will be my sole (serious) portable computing device (iPhone is a necessary evil for me) making the 13” more important…

But back to the point of this thread: I adore the screen, yes indeed!

@kingjames1970 nice! I have that Zf combo as well; never attempted to use it with the iPad. That said, I no longer make money through photography, so don’t pay for Adobe apps (Photomator, Pixelmator, CaptureOne). I’ll have to mull using the iPad more.
