This is so scary, I hope they never do this at my work. I would need to work from a Hell (Dell) 2-in-1. It as a horrible screen, it has a horrible operating system that isn’t suited for tablet use (windows 11) and it has horrible apps that are not made for fingers or pencil (looking at you, onenote).
Really feeling for you.

I'm retired now but we also had prohibitions against use of personal devices. Even before that edict, I had quit using my personal devices for work - we'd had incidences of personal devices accidentally being tainted with classified data (inadvertent wording in emails) that led to unpleasant consequences.

Yea it was super frustrating. I would keep my dev setup on my laptop and use my iPad for Teams/Outlook/Azure/etc. It was a really nice setup.

Well I've just joined the iPad Pro club not quite how I was expecting to

Had a few iPads in the past but never really used them that much, but the recent iPadOS 26 announcement got me interested again, hmm I can get a 11" Pro M4 256GB WiFi for £899 but maybe I'll get Cellular just in case oh £1099 (Education pricing), maybe I'll wait until the M5 one

Then I started randomly looking on eBay even though I usually wouldn't generally buy high value tech on there, ended up winning an auction for a brand new and sealed 11" Pro M4 256GB WiFi and Cellular...for £780! Couldn't believe my luck

Turned up and it was the real deal brand new and sealed...except unfourtunately the seller had accidentally sent out a WiFi only model

Rather than the hassle of sending it back for a refund or exchange the seller was very apologetic and I've now ended up with a brand new 11" Pro M4 256GB WiFi for £700 :D

I'm complete now with my M4 Mac Mini, my M4 Macbook Air and M4 iPad Pro!

£700 equals to $1500AUD, not really a bargain, Apple EDU is $1,529.
I bought one off FBM 2 weeks old for $1,000AUD or £480.

Well, yess, but in the uk it sells for £999, or 935 at Amazon. So then it’s not such a bad deal.
Yes you got a killer deal at £700 especially for us in the UK. I paid the full £999 at launch and also £250 for the MKB from Amazon but used the 5 month payment option. Expensive, but worth it for me for this beautifully crafted device.

I have a love hate with my m1 iPad Pro. It’s great for content but I find it hard infuriating when trying to use excel or office apps.

However one thing I don’t think it gets enough credit for is it robustness! The screen is way tougher against scratches versus a laptop screen. Mine is still mint versus laptop screen isn’t
To be fair, Office apps are buggy on Windows machines too. Excel has an infuriating bug where freeze rows doesn’t freeze what’s selected but it does in the online web app and Outlook just stops deleting drafts when it wants to. I’ve had better luck with the iPadOS versions weirdly.
