I was so wrong about 6+

I always get a kick out of picking up my 3gs now:

Though the 6+ is a beast, <6 feels like:

I have been weighing up the pros and cons of each device.

I've had 4.7/5" devices when I was on Android so when it came down to it, getting a 6 wouldn't be anything new. Having a Plus is something different and I'd say I'd have more regrets if I went with a 6 and wonder if I should have gotten a Plus rather than the other way round where I could downgrade.

For me, I'm a heavy Internet/video/social media guy and hardly make any calls so for that, the few times where I'd "look like an idiot" making a call is worth the extra in what I'd be getting in terms of browsing and watching my shows on my commute using the Plus.

Also means I wouldn't have to take my iPad Air to work with me.

Fully appreciate that one handed use is a deal breaker for some and that's cool, but I see so many people with Galaxy Notes and now Pluses (and a lot of these people are women as well) and I think the stigma of needing a device to use one handed is fading big time. I want in on the fun.

So with that, I'm picking up a 64gb Space Grey 6 Plus on Monday and can't wait.

Yeah, the 6+ does feel embarrassing to hold up to your head to make a phone call. If I have to talk, I'll usually enable speakerphone if I am in a public space. I've also gotten into a habit of using speakerphone whenever I can to limit my SAR exposure. Been doing that since the days of even the 3.5" iPhones...

I also realized that making calls is < 20% of what I do on my 6+ so it's very much worth that compromise to excel at the other 80% of the tasks.

You put speakerphone on when in public !!?? Eh!!?? Haha!! Right!! Lol

I was worried that it would be too big for everyday use - but after having it for a few days I've already adjusted to it and am glad I got the 6+ instead of the 6. I love the larger screen, makes web browsing, viewing e-mails, etc. a lot more bearable. It definitely makes a lot of things into a two-handed operation, but when I do those things I'm usually sitting still somewhere anyway. I can easily handle a phone call or sending a text one-handed if I'm on the go (thanks to Siri/dictation). I don't wear skinny jeans, so it fits in the pockets of my jeans/cargo shorts just fine and I've never been one to sit down with my phone in my pocket anyway. It goes in the cupholder in the car, on the table in a restaurant, etc.

Does anyone actually ever hold their phone up to their head if they are on a call anymore? It seems like no one has mentioned how ridiculously big the 6+ looks when you hold it up to your head to talk on it...
That's one of the nice things about getting older - you don't care what other people think about such things anymore. :) I'm not quite to the point where I wear black socks with Bermuda shorts, but I'm well past worrying about what people think about which phone I use, or how I use it.

The battery life on the 6+ is the selling point of the of this device period. Coming from a Galaxy Note 3 that I loved(and sometimes miss) I've never had a phone with as incredible battery life as the 6+ This phone on average literally lasts me 2 days before I have to charge it and that is amazing! I was concerned that I would be losing out on being able to swap the battery like on my Note 3, but I don't even care anymore. The size wasn't an issue coming from an already large phone and everything else so far has been awesome. Excellent camera, great screen, sound quality, excellent battery life, snappy performance, make this phone a major win. Other than getting used to the operating system(been an Android user since the S3), and the headphone jack being on the bottom(I never owned a 5 or 5S) I'm impressed.

I had a coworker go from the 4S to the 6+ with no issues concerning the size. He took the plunge feet first and has loved it. However I don't think the size is for everyone, but sadly a store demo isn't enough. You really need to use one for 2 weeks first hand to get a real feel for it.

I currently have both the 6 and 6+

Got the 6 at launch and was very happy. Curiosity got the best of me and I bought the 6+ as well.

I put the 4.7" phone in the drawer and used the 6+ for the past week exclusively.

Both phones are excellent and I'm not embarrassed using a huge phone. in fact I believe it will probably be the norm soon. However, I did find the 6+ a little difficult to use one handed and slightly cumbersome at times. But nothing unmanageable.

Unfortunately, I didn't really find the web browsing to be better on the 6+. While the higher res screen shows more website content, the font is smaller than the 720p iP6 screen. I tried zoomed mode, but that made the font size about equal to the 6 but with extra content at the bottom of the screen.

I sat in the bleachers of my son's baseball game over the weekend and did a lot of browsing on the 6+, as I often did with the 6, and didn't find the web browsing experience to be any better. In fact, I was bothered by barely being able to reach the 'back' button in Safari. A big stretch is required for my hand size.

The 6+ really excels at videos and games. Netflix is fantastic.

This morning, I swapped the sim card back to the iP6 and it felt really comfortable to me. No issues with the screen being smaller.

As I said before, both phones are excellent and I could easily live with either, but I think I'm going to return the 6+. If the browsing was better, I would stick with the bigger phone.

Any thoughts on how I can improve my web experience?

Battery issues have never been a problem for me - I usually have more than 50% battery at the end of the day with all of my past iphones, so the bigger battery is not much of a benefit for me.

Why would anyone give a flying flip about how they look with a 6+ next to your ear? I could care less.
But if it makes y'all feel better, in a year or so everyone that puts a phone to their head will look the same as they have larger and larger phones. May seem odd today, but common place tomorrow.

When I saw the 6+ for the first time in an AT&T store I thought it was too big; went home and ordered a 6. Went back to the store 1 week later to get a case for husband's phone and was very intrigued by the 6+. Played with it for a bit went home cancelled 6 order and placed 6+ order. It's supposed to be delivered on Friday and I cannot wait.

All those years of enduring crappy battery life on iphones.
We can finally rejoice a little with the 6+ battery life.
I can go hang out during the day and power use my phone with confidence.
Not needing to ask friends if I can borrow their chargers and sit by the outlet.

Yes and No

I agree it is an awesome device indeed. The functions, the features, the speed. the storage, the camera. the processor.... everything is simply best. But, but is not easy and comfortable to use as a mobile. This device is too big to carry in a pocket.

All the store demo did initially was make me feel it was too big. You really cannot guage the device quickly for all the things you would do with it.

Unfortunately two weeks is the return timeline, I think it is enough for most folks though to guage if the device is unweilding.

I'm glad you like it, it's awesome.

I went with the regular 6 and absolutely love it, it's the perfect device for me.

The 6 Plus is nice to use while sitting or at your location, but walking with it or trying to use in public seemed like it would be somewhat cumbersome. The 6 fits perfectly in my hand and is the biggest a phone could get where I can comfortably use it in one hand, which is a big deal for me.

I started with the 6+ and downgraded to the 6. It was just too big to consider using on a day to day basis (or so I thought).

Had buyers (return?) remorse for almost 2 months before I went ahead and bought one last Wednesday. Now I'm in love with the form factor.

The size imposes a "shock factor" for a lot of people moving from a 3.5" or 4" display. Display increases of 57% & 38% respectively.

Some people simply can't adjust but if you can (like me), you'll get accustomed to the larger viewing real estate and never want to go back to a smaller screen :D

I'm still on the fence whether I should keep my 6+ or get the 6. I wish it was a little smaller and I feel like I'm going to drop it sometimes. I miss the the one handed operation the most. While it is still possible to use the 6+ with one hand, it's just more difficult to do some tasks.

You put speakerphone on when in public !!?? Eh!!?? Haha!! Right!! Lol

I do too. Unless its a totally private call. Its more natural for people around to hear both sides of a conversation like both parties are present and actually its less rude.

OMG yes!!!! Hahah!!!! Lulz!!!

me yoo :D if technology had invented mobiles first with FaceTime we would laugh at people being all private and holding it to their ear.

Before getting my 6, the 6 Plus looked gargantuan. I liked it, but I thought it was a bit too big for me- so I got the 6.

After two months of using the 6, I went back to an Apple Store and picked up another 6 Plus. Since my daily device went from a 4" phone to a 4.7" phone, the 6 Plus felt much more comfortable and reasonable. I still love my 6, but I'm pretty sure my next iPhone will be a "Plus-sized" model ;)
