So long story short I was refused replacement for my non-able to get 3G speed phone. I almost harmed this "Genius" who questioned my honesty and had to be held back and escorted by security. This Apple store is in a mall so it was loud, words were exchanged, it was nearly physical. Police information was taken both ways. I am cooling off for now before I escalate this any further.

As the fake( or not?) Jobs email said to another person( or not?), calm down. It's just a phone and not worth getting worked up over. Is it worth it to go to jail over a phone?

Its a phone. You'll have more in your lifetime. Sheesh.

Even those who are upset about the reception issue will (hopefully) disagree with how you handled yourself.

The man is only doing his job, essentially just doing what he is told to do. The fact that you got so violent is not going to help anyone.

I suggest you just relax, maybe even call the store and apologize and maybe go to another Apple store, explain your issue calmly and see what can be done. But it sounds like Apple is not swapping out phones for this issue. At least not anymore.

Seriously?

Dude, I usually hate when people say this, but really, it's just a phone.

There's no need to get physical with anyone who's doing his job! That's effing outrageous. There are about 37 things you could have done instead, starting with either asking for his supervisor or making an appointment with a different Genius.

Needing to be held back because someone questions your integrity is merely proving their point, IMO.

Yeah, it's not right to almost get into a fight with a guy at the store but I'm still curious about the exchange leading up to it. How did he question your honesty?

I really want some details because at the very least, it's entertaining. :D

Lol would love to see that on video.

Can't agree more!

Odd. That's one reason I refuse to shop at the 5th Ave. store in NYC. Not only was I fed up with rude "Genuis" staff and incompetent software tutors who are more like new college grads with minimal knowledge for teaching elders, but a cashier accused me of opening the box when I returned an item, unopened. I actually saw she and another lady go into a room and open the box to examine the item because someone opened the door while I was waiting!

I complained, and the manager was very apologetic, but other things happened and I go to the Union Square store now.

I'm a very calm person. I get my angst out with well-written complaints. But I can totally identify with what you're saying about a staff member accusing you of dishonesty.

Ok I have to ask. Why are people still trying to get these iPhones replaced? It's been reported at almost every major outlet that they are not replacing iPhones for reception issues. You can however return them for a full refund. Just return it and buy a new one a few days later.

Just return it and when the credit/upgrade eligibility get reset, order a new one online (since you likely won't be a welcome sight in the store.

Just a note, this is a tactic used by scumbag car dealers to eliminate problematic (aka, costly) customers.

All they need to do is get them to scream or yell, say the word lawyer, or threaten the salesmen.

And they are suddenly speaking to lawyers or cops about the problems with the car.

A dealer here used to use it to great effect, a simple "please leave" inserted at the right time would mean a trespass or assault charge filing, along with an instant restraining order the next day. And suddenly the problem the customer complained about was solved.

Honestly, you sound like a *****. The guy is only doing a job and you get confrontational...I would love them to black ball your ass

Cool story.

I figured most would be opposed to your post but I can relate. Way back with the original iphone I kept getting bad screens. Others may remember the JayZ screen or whatever the rappers name is. Anyways it would reverse the black and was terrible. Trying to exchange the phone I had a similar incident. Although not as bad as the police werent needed but I did make a big scene. Cool off and try another Apple store. I know its just a phone but it is an expensive one you will spend a couple years with so there is some validity in getting it right.

Back then, I emailed the Steve himself and an Apple rep called me and resolved it perfectly. In fact, they even contacted at&t and refunded stocking fees I paid twice with their stores exchanging it before the apple store incident.

Yeah, try not to let them get to you (though I guess it's too late for that). I was just refused a replacement myself today for the 3rd time, but it's no reason to get upset with the genious, he's just doing what his bosses told him too, and they are only doing what there regional managers are telling them to do, who are doing what ........ well you get the picture. The fact is that apple is doing a really crappy job here, but that's still no reason to get into a tussel. But if you still want to support apple, your best bet is to just return the phone and rebuy it.

Pretty sure his job isn't to question customer's honesty. Pretty sure i would have gotten arrested, and probably sued.. and i would have made it worth every bit of it.

I love these tales of ridiculousness. If you hate the phone so much just ****ing return it. Apple doesnt have a fix right now and your antics arent going to produce one. Just retuen the phone and move on with your life.
