Mine (1.33) has been repasted, has new pads, maxxed RAM, a 32gb mSATA, a super optimized Leopard install, and turns out to be a fantastic little notebook that never fails to get the job done.

Did you use an optimized Leopard ISO or you did the optimizations by an guide? Can you share some knowledge please? Thanks

Well, my m-SATA enclosure arrived, so I put the 64GB SSD in, Carbon Copy Cloned my system to it as a firewire external drive, and set about disassembling the iBook.
It was easier than expected and I soon had the old hard drive out, the SSD in, and rebuilt the machine.

Sad to say, when I pressed the power button - nothing :(

I took it all apart again and checked and rechecked all the cables, and tried it again still partly disassembled.
Still nothing, no lights, no bong, no bleeps, all dead.
The power works as the mains supply lights up and charges the battery, but that's it.

So, I took the SSD out and put a blank 60GB hard drive in, and tried once more.
Still dead :(

I must have loosened something on the board while taking it apart, although I'm always very careful stripping laptops.

We have a few days away next week, but after that I'll look for another iBook 1.33 and hopefully get a working system back using the SSD. At least I have a load of spare parts ;)

Cheers :)

Hugh

If I remember correctly, there are three wires to hook up to the board from the keyboard/trackpad assembly. Make sure the top left one (I believe is red/black, should be just under the left speaker) is connected to the logic board, because that's the one routing from the power button. If there's something wrong with that connection, the system won't turn on.

Yes, that's got blue and white wires. All 3 connectors are in and tight, but the power cable has a slight kink in it.
I may take it off and short the connection out to see if I get the thing to boot. If I get success then I'll replace that wiring.
I've had enough for now, that's for another day ;)

Cheers :)

Yeah well, when you've wrestled with a 'lamp' you know what I mean ;)

Cheers :)

Hugh

I don't know why people make a deal out of opening the lampshade. It's pretty easy to get into, as far as iMacs go.

Now, putting its logic board BACK into place, is a different story.
