I had problem with iBooks on 1st gen iPad jb with redsn0w 0.9.10b1.
My iPhone 4 was jb with redsn0w 0.9.9b9d, then untethered jb with 'Corona Untethered'

So I tried tethered jb my iPad then untethered with Corona and iBooks now works on my iPad.

anyone else tried this? will try this one out with my ipad1 and report back later

Just got Corona 3 updated on my iPhone 4.
So I think its not Corona that fixed the iBooks issue. Maybe the fix was not included in the latest version of redsn0w?

Anyway, I'm jb-ing my other 1st gen iPad now, but most, if not all the repo are down. Cant get Corona at the moment.

I can confirm iBooks is fixed with redsn0w 0.9.10b2 that was just released maybe an hour or so ago. I did a clean restore before using the new version.

GREAT! This worked for me. Got my iBooks back.

Cheers

Okay, i got it, maybe i was lucky, but i got it.

0. Delete iBooks and/or every other patch/patches on your iDevice.
1. Install a clean iBooks from the App Store and then restart your phone.
2. Install the iBooks Fix2 from the insanely repository.
3. Respring the iDevice.
4. The Springboard now should crash and go in safe mode (i don't know why, but the only time it crashed and went in safe mode it worked for me), so if it doesn't crash go in safe mode.
5. Restart the phone.
6. Now iBooks will work (at least it worked for me).

so i tried iDonnie's trick but the respring then it going to safe mode didn't go as his did, so i just went to safe mode. it didn't work at first so i just un-installed iBooksfix2 and somehow iBooks works now! it's a little wonky whenever i try to read the Beatles Yellow Submarine book. but it's fine on the winnie the pooh book. weird...

FWIW....I used redsn0w 0.9.10b1 originally to JB 5.0.1 on an iP4. Was getting the iBooks error after installing from App Store. After adding the insanelyi repo, installing the iBooksFix2, and a respiring and reboot, iBooks is now working and sync'ing.

HTH for those who don't want to re-JB with redsn0w 0.9.10b2....

no luck on my end...just did the same thing. thought they'd include it on that but it's just some minor error that they had to fix.

I made it work uninstalling ibooks from general-usage but i installed ibooks fix2 before ...ahah it seems that there are a lot of different ways to fix it...but no syncing with itunes though...

I've upgraded to the new beta of Redsn0w, iBooks is still not working.

I think we have to wait a few hours, because now there is a lot of traffic on Cydia and currently the preference loader is unavailable...

It sounds like the Corona update (1.0-2/3) may have fixed iBooks!

Can anyone confirm that this is actually the case?

It doesn't seem like the Corona update or even the redsn0w update fixes iBooks out of the box. I'll just stick to the manual method I mentioned on the first page! I think it basically works the same way iBooksfix2 does but doesn't require PrefenceLoader!

Thanks Everybody! ^_^

iFile

Any luck on the fix of iFile yet- I need to use it to get a Siri Port working, I untethered on an iPhone 4 using Redsn0w 0.9.10b1.

It works perfectly! So now i don't have to wait for the hack! I've just done all by myself!

Just one thing, is it possible to fix the icon of the hacked iBooks?

Try updating to Corona 1.0-3 or RedSn0w 0.9.10b2. This fixes the problems with launchctl that were behind much of the flakiness early on.

Hope this Helps! ^_^

not working for me, JBed with redsnow 9.10b2 n then followed instructions for ibooks fix. just going to use Ouiivo

If you can use iFile, SSH, or some other method of accessing the iOS filesystem, replace the icons in the new iBooks.app folder with the ones in this zip (http://www.junaed.com/iBooksicons.zip)! If I remember correctly, you'll need to correct the capitalization on the "X" on one of the files. I think it's Icon-iPhone@2x.png not Icon-iPhone@2X.png. Just make sure that all of the similarly named files are replaced by the ones in the zip! Next, restart or respring. This should fix the icon, but you may need to move it in and out of folders a bit or sync with iTunes before it changes!

Hope this Helps! ^_^

I got ibooks to work ios 5.0.1 untethered

I restored my ipod touch 4g from 4.2.1 to 5.0.1 and jailbreak untethered, i was having trouble to run ibooks, this is how i made it to work.

1.- you must have iFile installed (i'm not having problems with that)
2.- delete ibooks and every patch
3.- go to ifile, go to root/ and search for "ibooks" selecting the option in the right ("jerarquía" sorry i have it in spanish).
4.- wait the search to finish and delete every file related to ibooks
5.- reboot the device
6.- go to cydia and add the repo http://cydia.xsellize.com/
7.- search for ibooks fix for iOS 5 and install it
8.- respring and reboot
9.- it should be working, the only problem is that when you sync a book from itunes it gives you the message that ibooks isn't installed, but the book copies just fine and you can open it from ibooks.

HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU!!!

iPhone 4 is jailbroken using Dev Team Pwnagetool 5.0.1 - does anyone know the recommended fix for this?

Both iBook and iFile are pooped!

I stumbled upon someone's post about iFile on some other forum. Basically the guy said that iFile had problems with it's registration server rather than the particular jailbreak used, as probably that server is being hammered just like the repos. He turned on Airplane Mode and iFile worked great. Hope that puts some light on the situation.

About iBooks. Some say that b2 of redsn0w fixes it, some say it doesn't. I haven't jailbroken yet because of iBooks issue and I hope, if some of you guys have jailbroken their iPhones with b1 or b2 of redsn0w, to try clarify the situation.

Thanks.

In my experience, the keys to getting iBooks and iBooksFix2 working are;

1. Delete iBooks from your device.
2. Re-spring
3. Reinstall iBooks from the App Store.
4. DO NOT START iBooks!
5. Run iBooksFix2
6. Respring.

Done.

iFile Permanent Fix For IOS Untethered 5.0.1

ifile.jpg
There has been a very big issue with the newest untethered jailbreak on IOS 5.0.1 and the issue I am referring to is the iFile crash on startup. iFile as we know is a very commonly used app we use for editing, swapping, organizing, etc...

Not being able to use iFile is a huge let down for many of us. Without iFile we can't do much of our work that we enjoy on the go or just lounging around. Well this afternoon I came across a permanent fix. No need to wait for another update with a new redsn0w from pod2g. No need to use MyFile as other people have recommended as a temporary fix. I have successfully got iFile running with no more crash and this is how I stumbled upon it accidentally.

Before I get into this, I have a Dropbox account. <Click Dropbox if you don't already have one. I bring up Dropbox because it is how I was able to get my iFile working correctly.

When one typically downloads a file from safari you have have 2 options if you have Dropbox and iFile. The 2 options are, open in...which can be Dropbox or open in iFile. I chose to open up a Dropbox shared file of my own in iFile. As soon as I did this, iFile opened up, loaded the .zip and registered the way it was intended to do so. I was pretty shocked to actually see this. iFile did not work for me at all no matter what I did. I checked to see if anyone else was having this issue and surprisingly I was not the only victim of the iFile crash. I closed out iFile and opened it up from springboard and it opened up perfectly. I respringed and rebooted and there are no more issues with iFile. iFile no works the way it is suppose to! I hope this fix works for anyone who seems to be having the same issue! Good luck and be sure to leave feedback if this fix works for you or not! Thanks and take care!

I followed these instructions to a T and i can not get ibooks to work. I have even restored and re jailbreaked with RedSn0w 0.9.10b2 but to no avail.

Now the app just crashes when i try to open it :(

Had same issue today. Ibooks would not work even with ibooks fix on my Verizon 4 using redsn0w 0.9.10b1. I then rebooted it and voila it works. Go figure.
