Can we all agree if “government asking social media companies to not promote COVID misinformation” is an assault on free speech the below is absolutely an assault on free speech?

That's true and irrelevant to this app. This app was designed to target a group, which made it likely for harm to come to them.

Explain, SPECIFICALLY, how this app which let people know to hide “made it likely for harm to come to them.” Furthermore, provide a SINGLE example of that happening as a result of this app. The only thing at risk of being harmed would be their bonus for hitting a quota.

mate, Apple stated no such thing. The American government made the claim to prevent people from notifying and protecting each from unlawful ICE attacks, and Apple pulled the app so as not to upset King Donald.
That's not what the article says. According to the article, Apple told the developer, "Information provided to Apple by law enforcement shows that your app violates Guideline 1.1.1 because its purpose is to provide location information about law enforcement officers that can be used to harm such officers individually or as a group. For this reason, your app will be removed from the App Store."

What leads you to the conclusion that law enforcement making a company aware of someone violating the company's policies is just to placate an executive? Do the policies only apply if an executive disagrees with them?

“Collateral damage” that we all just have to live with 🙄

Gotta break a few citizen eggs to make that racially pure omelette

ICE under Obama’s administration held the most number of raids, detentions and deportations.

Back then liberals ignored it because they framed it as protecting local workers and stopping the exploitation of poor foreigners by capitalist factory owners and greedy landlords.

There’s a whole documentary on Netflix about how companies like American Apparel had slave labour like conditions in their factories until ICE raided them.

Now the exploitation, capitalist factory owners and greedy landlords are OK because the other party is in power.

That causes protests and tensions that bring out the worst in everyone, especially those who work in ICE.

Potentially help me break the laws against speeding == good

Potentially help brown people avoid ICE == bad

🙄
It’s the American tradition - max enforcement against others, minimum enforcement against the in crowd.

Cops break the law - professional courtesy. Rich people kids break the law - they get a break because they come from a good family. Steal a few hundred dollars, go to prison. Steal a few million dollars, you just have to pay some of it back. Employee steals from company, prison. Company steals wages from employee, maybe just pay some back.

Weird. So in reality, the left does support deportations of illegal immigrant as long as they’re not done in a cruel and indiscriminate way. Somebody better let the right know so they can apologize for mischaracterizing the left’s position.

I think this is more along the lines of, yes the app tells people were ICE is and as you can see from various news reports, ICE has been met with protests etc, and there now have been a couple of incidents of violence against the agents in question. So, the fact there is an app that allows people to know where other people that we know a lot of folks don't like, this is only asking for trouble. Whether it is a agent getting hurt, someone with bad intentions getting hurt, or an a bystander who is caught in the middle.

Really quota... 🤦‍♂️

Sure, but you’re giving people the benefit of the doubt who have showed over and over again that they don’t deserve it.

The app was debated publicly for three months with significant public pressure from the government. However, after a private phone call from the DOJ, Apple removed the app the same day. Bondi called it a “demand”. Just a coincidence?

If the USA was a dictatorship then the protestors would all be in jail. USA isn't China or Russia.
dictatorship /dĭk-tā′tər-shĭp″, dĭk′tā″-/

noun

  1. The office or tenure of a dictator.
  2. A state or government under dictatorial rule. ✅
  3. Absolute or despotic control or power. ✅
  4. The office, or the term of office, of a dictator; hence, absolute power.
  5. A type of government where absolute sovereignty is allotted to an individual or a small clique. ✅
  6. A government which exercises autocratic rule.
  7. A form of government in which the ruler is an absolute dictator (not restricted by a constitution or laws or opposition etc.). ✅
Pretty sure you will be able to check the others in a couple of years.

Why might citizens (and not just immigrants) want to avoid ICE? Because of this:

Just face facts: it was NOT like this. Not at all. You didn’t have fat, nasty societal dregs tear-gassing kids’ Halloween parades, but you do now! And you certainly never had Obama saying that people who questioned things were “traitors” or “seditious.”

Don’t give me some BS about what MAY happen. People in this country have been empowered to protest the authorities since the beginning of the republic. And yes, quotas. And they even tried an incentive!
