Any idea if they plan on remaking the icons for their apps? (iWork, iLife, iBooks and such).

iBooks already has a new icon in the Maverick Beta and I believe during WWDC they said we'd see an iWork update to support the new web functionality better so I imagine we'll get a final new logo when that occurs. Probably more iOS 7 friendly iOS design as well

People sure care a lot about the appearance of icons. I only look at the icon for as long as it takes to click on it then I get to work. I don't have time to be all butt-hurt over how the icons have changed. As long as it works and works the best, as Apple products tend to, then I'll remain a loyal customer.

Very well said. Some people get too emotional over such a small thing.

Horrible and inconsistent. I used to look up to Apple's design quality and consistency, sad to see this mess going on. I seriously hope they don't go down this road in future versions of OSX, but at least that's customisable.

Out of curiosity.....what exactly is inconsistent about it if they are moving everything in the same direction?

Ugh, the Contacts icon still looks horrible.
On the bright side, I love the new Find My iPhone icon.

Can anyone post some prints of the apps for those who are not developers and did not pay 99$ to get some sneak peeks? :D

Now if they can add Mission Control to iCloud, that'd be pretty sweet. :D

anything is better than the clunky, rounded, 3D, 2006-inspired current incarnation of icloud.com.

but also LOL. what a lazy and uninteresting interface. I'm getting bored just looking at it. I'm SO bored.

Wow, it's amazing reading how negative some people are when it comes to change. I, on the other hand, love this new redesign. I'm all up for change every now and then.

Exactly. It's just inconsistent because its a beta. I don't really like it, but I'll be glad to see the leather go away.

It wouldn't say it's because it's beta. I'd say its because they didn't have time to redesign iOS, OS X and all of Apple's apps in the span of 7 months.

Would it be less boring if one of the icons popped out of the screen and hit you across the head? ;):D iJoke

Still need to add iphoto to icould.com and a basic apple drive (iDrive) could care less about the iwork apps since nobody I know uses these. Everyone I know uses office.

It's amazing how many people I know that just don't take change in general in life.

Although I don't really mind the new icons, I just don't look at them and think "wow, that's a beautiful icon" like I did with their previous icons. They lost that spark.

Any of you idiots complaining actually log in and toy with it a little bit?
It's nice and fluid. Love it.

The ONE thing they can do is tweak the icons, but I have had the iOS 7 beta since day 1, and trust me, it doesn't really matter what the hell the icons looks like. I mean who cares?? iOS7 is definetly a better OS to use..

Those 2 seem like no-brainers to add. While we're at it how about adding iMessage as well.

Firstly, Apple never used to be this lax with stuff. The fact they haven't got round to getting their 'marketing team' to update the iWork apps is one glaring inconstancy.

Secondly, the icons may look like like they're moving in the right direction to some, I can understand that line of thought, however there are subtle inconstancies with all the new iOS7 icons. Gradients appear on some, yet others are fully flat. The sizing and placement of elements also varies beyond consistency. These things create a disharmonies overall feeling. It's a mess.

Sure, I am being macro critical but I am a designer – who has always liked the sheer attention to detail Apple are famous for. Something just doesn't hang right with much the iOS7 look.

The old icons have lost their spark. It's almost 2014... time for a change.
