No. It will never work like DropBox. You are too stupid to manage your files (Apple's philosophy).I was under the impression that iCloud drive would work like dropbox. and the iCloud drive page on apple.com gives that impression from the photos too.
I too am on Yosemite, iOS 8 and have icloud drive enabled on all my devices but the document picker doesn't come up when I open an iWork app like Pages, which I also just updated. So annoying. Still trying to figure this one out...
The document picker hasn't been enabled for Pages or Numbers. As far as I know, the only apps that have document picker enabled are Dropbox and iMovie.
Dropbox: icon in the top right hand corner - Add Files - iCloud
I was able to get it working here ... noticed that after using pages on my iOS device and turned on and off the iCloud settings on settings / pages ...
It made a folder on the iCloud drive. Put documents there and ... there they were.
Still not working for me. I'm waiting for iOS 8.0.1 to do a restore.
Does anyone also experience the issue of everything saying "Encrypted File" or "Encrypted Folder" in Settings>Manage Storage?
great app thank youWhy you don't download this?
This is what Apple missing. Open it, search your file, open with app you want.

its not an app thats the screen you get when you use an app like Documents or iCloud explorer to access icoud drive.the app should be coming out. They wouldn't show something that isn't coming out.

No. Apple designers who are so "sand box happy" they don't understand how a Cloud Drive "should" work.ITT people who don't understand how iCloud Drive works.

And that app referenced above? Try to use it to open a document already in iCloud Drive. It will create a duplicate file in the apps container and won't let you open the original.
I have that app as well. Try it with a Pages or Numbers file. It will make a duplicate file in the Pages/Numbers app - right next to the original.I just used an app called Documents by Readdle and opened a text file in my Preview folder. Edited it and exited out. Opened iCloud drive on my mac and opened up the same text file that was edited in the preview folder and the changes were there. It did NOT copy it to the Documents by Readdle iCloud Drive folder.

Why would I use another app to open a Pages file? If its a Pages file I would just use Pages.
Maybe it makes another file because the app cannot support the Pages file format? Like opening an office 2003 file in office 2007 and saving it in office 2007 format, it will make a new file.
